    Ubuntu + Win10 VM

If setup properly, you can get around 95% of bare metal performance in my experience. I’ve used GPU passthrough with my 1950X system for over a year now, not a single issue. It’s not for everyone though. You can run into some annoying IOMMU limitations depending on the board you have...

    Predator X34 competitors?

Exactly - VRR will only engage when it's in the range of 55-144 FPS. So anytime you go below 55 FPS you will experience tearing. I always aim for 60+ FPS minimum anyway so not an issue for me. Compared to the 34GK950G (which has a hardware G-Sync module), the sync range goes down to 30 FPS...

    Predator X34 competitors?

The LG 34GK950F is better in most areas I would say, though I don't know how the price compares to the X34 these days. 34GK950F is native 144 Hz, additionally the 120 Hz on the X34 is an overclock and not guaranteed. 34GK950F also supports HDR, although only HDR400 so it isn't super useful in...

    LG 38GL950G - 37.5" 3840x1600/G-Sync/175Hz

Near black uniformity is still an issue on OLED as well, though they've improved a lot from the C6 I have I've still seen many pictures of uniformity issues on the newer panels. So yeah, no perfect panel exists, but as with the vignetting here I find it is a very minor fault.

FS: LG 34GK950F ultrawide monitor (3440x1440)

The 38GL950G. I've been really impressed with it - going from 34" to 38" does really make a big difference, and having the extra vertical res is really nice for productivity. I posted more impressions in the thread here...

FS: LG 34GK950F ultrawide monitor (3440x1440)

I recently upgraded to a 38" ultrawide so I'm selling my LG 34GK950F monitor. It will ship in the original box and all cables are included (USB3, HDMI, DP, and power adapter/cord). In excellent condition, no dead pixels. Asking SOLD within CONUS only.

    LG 38GL950G - 37.5" 3840x1600/G-Sync/175Hz

I got mine today. Coming from an LG 34GK950F, I'm very happy with it. I also had a 38UC99 before that monitor, loved the size but the gaming experience on it was subpar due to the lower refresh rate (75Hz) and slower response times so I moved to a 34". This one finally ticks all the boxes for...

    LG 38GL950G - 37.5" 3840x1600/G-Sync/175Hz

Did you try BB? I ended up ordering from them just now, used the live chat and they were able to price match. I was billed the full amount, but they gave me a credit to my card right after placing the order. I just pointed them to LG's own site for the price match. Arrives Wednesday :)

    LG 38GL950G - 37.5" 3840x1600/G-Sync/175Hz

Best Buy has it in stock. They price match so maybe just try contacting CS with the LG link Otherwise the pricing on their site will probably update soon. When LG runs deals like this all the authorized dealers are supposed to update pricing, it just takes some time.

    LG 38GL950G - 37.5" 3840x1600/G-Sync/175Hz

Seems like they dropped the price a bit, B&H now showing $1599 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1488942-REG/lg_38gl950g_b_38_ultragear_nano_ips.html/ It's showing on LG's site now as well so likely other retailers will update soon https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-38GL950G-B-gaming-monitor

AMD Threadripper 3990X 64 core CPU reviews are out

Isn't the limit 512GB? https://www.anandtech.com/show/15483/amd-threadripper-3990x-review has it listed as 512GB max. I don't know if you can easily find 64GB modules yet though.

    LG 48CX

When using DPI scaling (150%) I think text looks fine on my 55" C6. With no scaling, I would agree it doesn't look as good as an LCD. So if you use DPI scaling - may not be an issue.

ASUS Unveils ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha Motherboard: Improved CPU VRM

Seems kind of weird they're coming out with another revision so soon. Considering TRX40 boards have only been out for a little over a month. Would be kind of annoyed if I bought the original one.

Linus from Linus Tech to Possibly Retire

Yeah I've always found him pretty well rounded in terms of content. Sure every now and then he makes some videos that target a more casual crowd but also does plenty of in depth videos. And he's been genuinely critical of companies in the past which is refreshing, he's not like a lot of other...

    LG 48CX

that would be counter productive to what LG want to achieve with OLED if they start raising prices. They want it to be mainstream, and it’s not going to get there without dropping the prices even more. the TVs don’t contain any Gsync module so there is no added cost either. They can certainly...

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

Yeah, MicroLED is going to be a hard sell if it comes out with prices similar to OLED early on. OLED was such a huge improvement over LCDs that the premium was justifiable, but I'm not convinced MicroLED will be that much better. And I have not experienced burn in on any OLED set yet but even...

    LG 48CX

Ditto. I also have the C6 and have not experienced any image retention that didnt go away, owned the display for about 3 years now. No fears about burn-in here, especially that they've continued to increase resilience against it in the newer sets. As for this 48CX - I think 48" is still too big...

Maybe March-April? Pretty sure all the previous OLEDs (at least the C series) were released during that timeframe. Usually it's not that long of wait for new TVs after CES, unlike with monitors.

    LG 38GL950G - 37.5" 3840x1600/G-Sync/175Hz

I noticed what you're referring to one of the older 38" monitors from LG as well (38UC99). It didn't bother me that much, but for the price of this monitor, I wouldn't be happy with it either. I feel like the uniformity of LCDs have gotten worse these days. And LG IPS panels still seem much...

    LG 38GL950G - 37.5" 3840x1600/G-Sync/175Hz

MBP uses AMD graphics so G-sync will not work there. I have an MBP 16" and it is DP 1.4 compatible, so shouldn't have any issues driving this refresh rate on the desktop. I don't know about the earlier 15" or current 13" models though.

    LG 38GL950G - 37.5" 3840x1600/G-Sync/175Hz

Yeah likely Q3 or Q4 the monitors will come in. Maybe there's a chance we get this earlier since the 950G has already been released - but not betting on it. Used both G-Sync and FreeSync monitors, I won't deny G-Sync is superior but I also don't see much of a difference on good FreeSync ones...

    LG 38GL950G - 37.5" 3840x1600/G-Sync/175Hz

Yeah I can see a FreeSync2 model coming next year. They’ll probably refresh the current 75Hz one. They already did once adding HDR, but DP 1.4 wasn’t really a thing yet back then.

    LG 38GL950G - 37.5" 3840x1600/G-Sync/175Hz

Contrast will be poor on the 38GL950G compared to your XG438Q. Nano IPS just mainly increases color gamut - not contrast, it's still typical IPS, around 1000:1. So I don't know if you'd be happy with the switch. However motion should be better on 38GL950G, and it has better viewing angels being...

    LG 38GL950G - 37.5" 3840x1600/G-Sync/175Hz

I have an OLED going on 3 years old and no burn in that I can see. Granted, I only game on it, no desktop use - but plenty of the games I play have static on screen elements. Even if it did develop burn in at this point, I would just buy another. Almost can get 2 55" OLEDs for the price of this...

    LG 38GL950G - 37.5" 3840x1600/G-Sync/175Hz

did you really expect this would be any different? Without a full array blacklight there's always going to be noticeable BLB. Affordable MicroLED is probably 5 years away at minimum, and maybe longer since it certainly won't come to monitors first.
