I struggle paying over $250 for a video card. I was hoping to get better 1440p gaming as I bought 144hz monitor this year. Guess I'll stick with the used Vega 56 I bought for a bit over $200 a year ago. Last new video card I bought was an RX480 8gb for $240.
Here are some comparisons with different video cards as the settings quality goes up and the graphics card goes down, the numbers even out. This is also where I think spending less on a processor and more on a video card would be beneficial.
Yes, the 9700K is 5-10% faster in games. That is really the only thing it is better in. The 3800x is cheaper and it comes with a cooler. I agree you shouldn’t discount games, but overall, the 3800x seems to be the better processor. Besides, if l was buying a processor strictly for gaming right...
The 3800X and 9700k are both $399 MSRP. I assume that is why they compared those two processors. The are both 7 class parts(i7/R7). The i9 9900k is $539 MSRP.
I do agree though, the article is written poorly.
They are using the 24 CU parts for Apple. They are just using the defective parts that need to be cut down for the 5500 series.
They may as well just keep producing the RX 500 series and leave the 7 nm parts for the CPUs.
I’m just disappointed that 4 years later and price to performance...
