A warning for AM4 socket watercooling

As I stated in the OP, if you are using a waterblock with screwed in posts, like the Heatkiller IV pro, you CANNOT twist back and forth. Intel has been using a locking frame to secure the cpu for well over a decade. This is not meant to bash amd, I have been on the platform for a few years now...

A warning for AM4 socket watercooling

I have been watercooling for many years on both Intel and AMD platforms. This is the third board I have installed and removed a CPU block on the AM4 platform. The specific board is the latest revision of the Gigabyte VISION D b550. I had intended a few months ago to start a build with this board...

EK Summer Sale (up to 80% off)

I agree that shipping to US kills this sale for me, otherwise I would grab one of those FLT combos. I dont agree with quality dropping, EK makes a polished product. I do think they have become a bit stale. What is SuperCool? If that is a new player I want to check them out.

    Reservoir Question

I like that dual pump you have displayed vertically. Can i get a link, I would use that in a build, looks cool. EDIT: I am dumb you provided the link, bought it.

    Reservoir Question

The plastic plate does matter. Needs to be on the bottom to prevent a vortex. A vortex will be noisy and put air into your system, which is bad. You may get lucky and not get a vortex but if you do you will want to drain the loop and put that plastic bit in. Any of the pump/res combos are good...

    Build Aesthetic Help

Option 1. Love the minimalist vibe. Very slick and it goes better with the res tubes. Also, really like the custom cables. Who made them?

Alphacool releases new reservoir, looks like a winner.

    It attaches to a radiator.
  9. Smoked Brisket

Alphacool releases new reservoir, looks like a winner.

It fits on a radiator. You dont have to do it that way, but that is the intent. Pump and res bought together would cost $220. At normal prices(not fire sale prices) you'd be pressed to get pump, res, rad, and fittings for 220. This is meant to compete with the EKWB FLT series. I have one of...

Alphacool releases new reservoir, looks like a winner.

Alphacool's latest reservoir, or distroplate, or manifold, looks pretty slick and comes in at a fair price relative to similar entries on the market. I like the fact that these look premium and are generic distros rather than specific to a case. Good to see someone seriously competing with EKWB...

Shoes that make you walk 250% Faster

The mail carriers I have seen the past few years park their vehicles and haul ass on foot up and down 2 blocks, then rinse and repeat. My guy says hello and hands me mail personally with a smile if I am in the yard. Hard working folks.

Keep soft tube or upgrade to hard tube?

Ok. I guess if we are making analogies about bathrooms I would say that I get enjoyment out of the hot shower and solid flushing but also enjoyment in shiny matching tiles. Many get enjoyment out of fast cars because they are fast and also because of their styling and shiny paint. To each his own.

First Custom Loop - Lots of Questions

The HWL Uflow gts and gts are the same, crossflow would have fittings at opposite ends but similar performance. Two 360's means you have no need for push/pull, save some money. EK loops are ok, but very expensive. Arctic fans would be my budget choice, Lian li Uni fans v1 or 2 would be my top...

Keep soft tube or upgrade to hard tube?

If your main goal is just performance then there is no reason to go with rigid tubing. However, If you get any enjoyment out of the hobby, because watercooling is a seperate hobby all its own, then you should try rigid tubing at least once. I will concede all the points that other members have...

Shoes that make you walk 250% Faster

It is the first generation, that 1400 will come down if there are sales. I think they are far more impressive than those motorized wheels because of the stability. It seems to me skill barrier to entry is lower than any "powered board." That fact alone should open eyes to potential. I can see...

What went wrong with my loop?

I do not intend to disparage Koolance, but do they still make coolant? Havent they moved on to industrial solutions rather than personal pc's? I would guess that if you bought Koolance coolant from an online retailer that it has been on a shelf, maybe moved around for years. Coolant has a shelf...

    Hard Tubing Installation Question

Rigid tubing is not like steel it has some flex, as do your components. It is hard to explain in words but you cut exact lengths and then "work" the tube in. Rigid tubes can flex a bit to allow you that tight squeeze into place. Sockets can as well, you will notice that pcie slots have a little...

High flow filter for loop - does one exist?

Touche, maybe I was a bit hyperbolic but I stand by inline filters as being way worse than any of those things. Propellers just annoy me.

High flow filter for loop - does one exist?

I do not wish to offend anyone but any recommendation of a flow filter in a PC custom loop is bad and should not be on these forums. Flush your rads with hot water, boiling if it makes you feel better. With new rads fill them with hot water and shake the shit out of them to remove any flux...

    Compact 12900k and 3090 build (MO-RA3)

Nice setup. It is ridiculous that EK charges almost 600 for that block and backplate(do not care if its active.) This is why EK is struggling. Dont get me wrong, I like the blocks and your setup.

EKWB Lays Off 25% of Workforce, Blames Lower Watercooling Sales

I may have not used the right wording. Let me clarify, please. I am on these forums praising the flt reservoirs a couple of years ago, when they first came out and I bought 2. At that time they were around 150 usd for the 240 pump/d5 combo. What a great value! Since that time they have released...

EKWB Lays Off 25% of Workforce, Blames Lower Watercooling Sales

This is sad but I am surprised and not surprised at the same time. They just havent been that innovative, none in the watercooling market have. R9 5950x and RTX 3080 - Is my loop too small? Too little radiator? Too little pump?

Temps in the high 80's with averages in the 60's seems normal for zen tbh. I have a 3700x through three different loops and two high end blocks and way overkill on rads. Those temps fall right in line. 6900 stays under 40 no matter what the cpu runs hotter than seems right. I am about to upgrade...

Right I have a 480 and a 360, it is an all AMD build. I got lucky and got a 6900xt at close to MSRP. I am one of those that got a shitty bundled gigabyte psu. CPU is a 3700. CPU hits low/mid 50's under load, gpu is much cooler in the 40's. I agree on the offfsets, it looked better in my head.

    Satin acrylic tubing

Can anyone point me to a video guide specifically about this? I am about to try my hand with satin acrylic and I understand that the tubing will discolor under heat. I have no problem bending acrylic but have never worked with a satin finish. Any advice appreciated.
