Here are some images of my fully protable Sentry with 1080p touch monitor and 25mm fan attached. (As well as wireless keyboard/mouse) perfect case for portability. Everything fits in my backpack. Only a regular power cord required to power everything. Turned my PC into an ALL In One PC.
Wait what!?!?!?! Why didn't you mod the shield instead? Why would you sacrifice the heatsink?!?!?!!?
Is there anyway that we can get our hands on these faulty heatsinks for a lower price?
That's not true. If you have an xbox controller there is an app that allows you to use the controller as a mouse and then you wouldn't need a keyboard. I use it at home all the time. The only problem is that you have to remove password login from your computer or get a usb key that automatically...
Yes the location of the CPU socket can differ but generally its around the same area and you can still move the fan around. It doesn't have to be exactly above the heatsink, but fan friendly holes is also a good solution. Thanks for suggesting that. Perhaps a bracket that matches the case...
I have the EVGA 1080TI SC2 you will be perfectly fine if you have a decent CPU cooler.
This is great! Thanks for linking it. I just found out. I left some of my comments there from my experience with the sentry.
Hello everyone. I just found out about this. I own and love the first iteration of the Sentry case. Looking at the improvements you have planned so far this new version is looking good but to be honest the biggest issues and features I would want for the sentry for me are 2.
1. A 125mm...

Can't wait for the benchmarks for this new Cooler. I hope it can...
What RAM are you using and how is the cooler? I solved all my heat Issues with the external fan and my 1080ti SC 2 runs at nice temps but without the fan there was not way the Cooler could handle the 7700k.
After using the sentry for a while I must say that in the upcoming designs they need to make the CPU intake better because the holes are not good enough for intake the metal blocks a lot of air intake. It really would have been better if they made more holes in this area and place a fan grill...
The clocks on the 8700 are lower but there is no way of running the 8700k at decent temperatures without undervolting, deliding, or like i did attaching a fan to the side.
You can get a placeholder CPU and wait for zen 2 if you need productivity, but if you are only aiming at gaming and casual work then your best bet is intel's 8700k. I was going to get the 8700k but decided it wasn't worth it for me. Two more cores does not justify a $380 purchase. I currently...
Well done wireless will not have latency but personally I really don't think it's worth getting wireless when the wire is really not that big of a deal. Also steamVR preview in beta is already pretty solid so I will agree with you that he can buy the Oculus now and return it once the Odyessy...
Get the windows mixed reality headsets once they get steamVR support. They are higher resolution and require no external trackers the biggest problem is the tracking but since your are playing sit down simulators the tracking will be perfect for your needs.
You mean the power cord? What king of horror stories did you hear? power-cords are pretty standard I am using an old power cord from a monitor I use to have because is longer than the one the PSU came with and it works fine.
Yeah unfortunately I can only make AMD my main CPU platform when they can actually compete with intel in single-core performance. In the meantime 7700k will do.
Yeah, I decided is not worth it. The 8700k is not even available anywhere and it literally is just 2 more cores. I'll keep my 7700k and buy Ryzen 1600x for my other build, I will get the Asrock x370 as a placeholder for the Asus X370 that is coming up.
Well you are missing out because VR is huge and you should definitely get a VR headset even if it's mostly for 2D application use, the new WindowsMR headsets have higher resolution displays that are great for working on 2D windows applications.
No, unfortunately. What I'm saying is that there is no stereoscopic 3D VR version monitor games. The best you can do is use apps that allow you to play the game on a virtual 2D screen that you can resize to your liking or use vorpX
I don't understand how you guys are worried about GPU temps. My GPU is a 1080ti and is overclocked and doesn't go past 80C. It's an open air card but my blower 1080ti FE never throttled.
Do it. It made a huge difference for me. It allowed me to overclock and everything. I am using the CoolJag Falcon though with an open air 1080ti. It's not super silent but it's not too loud.
I have been taking it back and forth from work to home and I can confirm that the weight is no issue for me . Even with the fan I attached to the side it still fits perfectly fine and leaves room for keyboard mouse and VR headset so plenty of room. I am used to the weight though, before the...
Journalism has been objective in some instances and can be objective if the news is covered as is without any opinions and proper sources like with scientific papers. Having partial information doesn't make an article non-objective or biased. It just makes it lacking information, but if the...
Yeah, it looks like it will be hotter. I think I will be fine with my fan attached to the side of the case but definitely won't be able to run the 8700k with the case as is.
It wasn't exactly right next to the fan it was about an arm's length away. I have the computer sitting right next to me on the desk but thanks for the tip. The fan I have attached to the outside of the case has Noise levels: 15 ~ 24 dB(A ) The noctua fan Acoustical Noise is 19,9 dB(A) .
With the fan I attached to the side of the case I am able to overclock my 7700k to 4.6. I like it. It doesn't look bad and it still fits in my backpack just fine.
Here are similar test to the ones posted by riba using a 7700k NOT delided overclocked to 4.6 and a 1080ti with a120mmx 25mm fan...
