Yea it was pure BS. I think it was to force more 570 adoption. Either way I have been happy with the MB I am just worried about it dying as all my others have last 4 years or less.
Yea got to update it. Now to remember how to do that.
My original plan was to go straight to 5800x but back in 2020 AMD was BSing on X370 getting the bios update so just got a 3700x on sale.
I agree, but my 3700x is going strong. I will be doing a full rebuild once zen 5 drops hopefully the 3d version. So I am weighing if dropping another $200 on a 5 year old build is worth it as it will be replaced no matter what.
This happened to me, if you have updated vbios and checked rebar in motherboard bios your only other check is windows bios. You might still be on legacy. You have to switch to UEFI
Yea it just seems weird. If you already flashed the GPU bios, mb bios already working it should be good to go as the previous card had it working. The only thing I can think of is turning Rebar off. Restart. And then turn it back on.
For the guys on older systems, make sure to update your windows bios from Legacy to UEFI. I updated MB bios, 3070 firmware, and turned on rebar in bios. Nvidia info still said NO and I realized the problem was that I was still on legacy.
To OP, what is your price limit? I just saw that slick deals posted the asrock 6800xt for under 500. As a 3070 FE owner I would buy that in a heart beat. As of now I haven’t found the 8GB to be lacking for 1440p but I have noticed with ray tracing on usage gets fairly close to the limit. 16GB...
I was really hoping to buy an EVGA during the RTX 3000 era but could never find one in stock. Got lucky and got a 3070 FE during an in store drop. I like the card but it only has a 1 year warranty which is already up. EVGA just seemed to have programs that made you a customer for life.
Have you gone in to the bios and check settings. If you have fastboot or whatever Asus calls it enabled could be causing your issue. Maybe check pcie gen setting and if resizable bar is enabled.
I did a similar jump 1080ti to 3070FE, had to camp out at Bestbuy to get it but looking back was definetly worth it at $500. The performance boost is about 35% depending on game but the minimum frames/smoothness was/is a big improvement. You said you will use the "legal OC", do you mean what...
Got a 1080ti I bought here used around 2 years ago since I was unimpressed with the 2xxx series. Was hyped to buy a 3080, even waited at the local bestbuy for 15mins before opening but now I will probably just see what AMD has. $700 is close to the max I want to spend on a part I will probably...
The xc3 is a 2.2 slot that is 2 slot without the backplate according to the EVGA mod on their forum. Didn't know they had multiple versions of it(Black, Gaming, Ultra Gaming) Not sure if it's just Clocks or PCB differences also.
According to one of their mods
"Thickness of the 3090/3080 XC3 models with backplate (XC3 Ultra/XC3) is 1.78in. - 45.1mm.
Thickness of the 3090/3080 XC3 models without backplate (XC3 Black) is 1.61in. - 40.9mm."
So it looks like it should fit in a 2 slot...
For half the price, that is crazy. The price is the upper of what I was willing to pay. They must have read my mind. I will probably wait a month to see if anybody has artifacting problems before jumping in
I wonder if the 3080 is the full chip or will there be a super. Hopefully reviews compare it to the 1080ti along with the 2080 for those of us that held out on turing.
