Jeeze, I can't believe the whole time it was the damn DisplayPort Cable.
Anyways, installing WIndows 7 64-bit now. Thanks for the help guys, I'll let u know if I run into anymore problems.
Yes, I'm pretty sure.
It shows up in the bios as Optiarc DVD RW. And it does show up in the boot up screen, along with my blank Intel SSD.
I am fairly certain it does work, it's brand new. I actually bought it as temp to see if it was the drive. I was original using a Pioneer BDR blue ray...
So I tried the method you suggested nitrobase, and that doesn't work.
I pressed F11 during POST, and left the boot screen there. But the optical drive does not turn green or the disc doesn't spin.
Ido notice that the optical drive light turns on when i first turn on the computer tho.
I actually tried that once, but i immediately went to the drive.
I'll have try it again later on.
A friend of mine is letting borrow another pci-e card later on too, so I'll be able to try that.
Hey there! I made this post in the General Hardware section, but I thought it would greatly help me getting this problem solved if I posted here as well (it also deals with server computers).
Anyways, I am way too lazy to re-post everything, but the last post I made on this thread has youtube...
Ok so I got my board back with an RMA report from Supermicro:
REPORTED PROBLEM FOUND.
CLEAR CMOS. BOOT TEST OK.
PERFORM ECO REWORK. UPDATE BIOS. BOOT TO
WXP. BASIC FUNCTION TEST PASS.
But I plugged everything back in again, and same friggin thing. I am soooo frustrated this isn't working. And...
this is the firwst time booting this machine, just built it. havent been able to install anything cause it won't boot off anything including a usb stick.
calling supermicro tech support... this is so frustrating.
I also just tried not putting my SSD hd in the boot order, and that didn't do anything. Going to go to Fry's now and buy a DVD drive and come blank CD's.
Mmmm, I don't have one at the moment... probably have to go to best buy to buy one. Do you think its possible its because I am using DVD's instead of CD's?
Ok, I am trying to upgrade the firmware of my Intel SSD. I just finished building this system moments ago. Both the hard drive and my blu ray drive are recognized in the bios, and I set the boot order to be the blu ray drive first, and the SSD second. However, when I turn off the system with the...
So I ordered the SSD from Amazon for $479 on Dec 25th with free shipping + no tax, and to make a long story short: they have delayed the shipment twice now (3 days on first, 2 days for the second), but the great thing is, they gave me free one day shipping and reduced the price to $459 for me...
So I went ahead and got two NECs from pconnection.com for $659.92 ($329.96 each) with free shipping + no tax. They say they won't get them til the 6th, so I'd have to around two weeks before I get them.

I think for now I will hold off on buying a raid controller. I think what I will do is just get 4 hitachi 7k1000.c 1tb drives (use raid5 instead of 10) and stick with the 2 intell ssds and see how they fair up in the mobo raid controller. And if later on, if I get more drives, I will get a raid...
I've been browsing around for a raid controller card to fit my needs. I am looking to RAID-10 eight HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.C 1TB drives and possibly RAID-0 two Intel X-25M G2 160gb SSD's. So far I have been eyeing the areca ARC-1231ML-2G PCI Express SATA II Controller Card - Retail
and the...
I found this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816103189&cm_re=SFF-8484-_-16-103-189-_-Product
However, it says it only supports Adaptec raid controllers, would this still work with that Areca card?
I been looking at these two products for a workstation I am building and I have a quick question concerning connections of these two.
I plan on putting two Intel X-25M G2 160gb SSD's on the Supermicro CSE-M14TB 2.5" mobile rack. However, I noticed the cabling for the mobile rack...
Thanks for the suggestion guys. I am leaning more towards the NEC, especially since the HDMI problem can be solved with DVI and the 1080 not being 1200 is maybe something I can let pass considering all the pro's.
I'll hopefully make a decision by the end of the day to see what others say!
That's a very good thing to hear, since I have yet to get into setting up a Linux environment of my own which is weird because I only use Linux at work, hah.
Ok, I know there are a lot of threads with those three monitors, either together or seperate postings, but I just wanted some help in deciding between these three based on my needs.
I do high-end visual effects work, so doing graphics, 3d animation, and viewing images and movies are...
Mmmm really? I am still a noob to all this raid stuff. However, I've been trying to research as much as I can.
One reason I been considering a RAID controller is because my motherboard only has 6 sata ports. But, I was thinking of just buying a RAID controller to accommodate the Hitachi drives...
I'm currently getting my parts for a new build and I am looking to RAID-10 eight HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.C 1TB drives and possibly RAID-0 two Intel X-25M G2 160gb SSD's (undecided if I want to raid them with the ICH10R onboard controller or not).
The two controllers I've narrowed it down to...
