FWIW, I'm with Comcast / Xfinity, and I'm running my own hardware; a Motorola MB8600 modem, and a TP link AX1800 router / wi-fi hub. PC's and NAS are hardwired, and the rest of the house flies WiFi. Zero regrets; just checked, I'm getting 948+ down, and 42+ going up on my main PC. Happy here...
Not an unusual failure mode in solid state electronics. Burn in is supposed to capture 'infant mortality' but it happens. Seeing silicon fail after a short time in operation isn't unheard of.
I've gotten a lot of mileage out of the Ultimate Boot CD:
https://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
Nothing you can't find on line if you look, but here it is in a bootable, stable, easy to use disk image.
We got our phones connected with Xfinity and love it. With all their hotspots our data usage is quite small. $35.00 / month for our two phones...very nice.
I've been very pleased with my basic Synology NAS and WD Red drives. Easy to recommend. Here's the one I bought:
Synology 2 bay NAS DiskStation DS220j (Diskless), 2-bay; 512MB DDR4 https://a.co/d/aCzxH4K
My home NAS solution has 2 WD 'Red' drives in it, in RAID0. So far, so good.....
Agree with MrGuvernment....putting a big drive in your computer isn't really a 'backup'. I've got a Synology NAS box, not expensive, very happy with it.
47uF, 25V is what you've got there. 72A is the lot code.
Also heed the fact that this is an electrolytic cap, hence polarized. A quick check with your DVM will confirm which pad is ground, which is what I'd do to confirm which is which.
Still can't get MW2 to play...and this isn't my first rodeo. Shit is ridiculous.
I've reset my PW...twice. You can go onto Steam and associate your account with Activision (did that). You can go onto Activision and associate your account with Steam (did that too). Still getting the 'invalid...
Title says it all...it's a great starter or 2nd card, never given me any trouble. Never OC'd or mined on. Was $150.00, now $125.00 shipped USPS priority to the lower 48.
Thanks for reading...!!
Might look at the Noctua NH-U9S. Just put one in my AMD build, really working out well. Only 125mm tall. Depends on how slim your slimline case is..... Another one that should fit is the Noctua NH-L9i....
In the FWIW department, I built a 5700G system using on board graphics for my office....and I love it. Seems very fast and solid. Will be using it for doing some audio processing and circuit simulation / schematic capture. And COD....;-)
I like Amazon for the reason that returns are simple and painless. It happens....like when you find out the memory you ordered doesn't like your new motherboard (even though it was on the compatibility list). Prices seem market rate-ish. Anyway, they're my current go to for parts. One man's...
We buy extra as possible, but SMT parts have a shelf life in terms of solder ability. You can bake IC's to some degree, not very practical with 0402 and 0201 parts. Its a lousy situation, all the way.
... it's not just chips that are in short supply. Stupid passive parts like SMT resistors and capacitors are brutal to find in production quantities. One power supply part we use was typically purchased for $0.28, and our commodity people found a few thousand....for $37.00 each. I'm not kidding...
After multiple power cycles and recoveries from stand by, it's working as expected. REALLY appreciate the suggestions..!! One more tool in the toolbox, one more thing to check when things go bozo.....
learners permit - I'm really digging the 5700G. It's fast as can be, and the graphics are...
Still power cycling, still starting like it should. Maybe, just maybe....this sobered it up. Thanks again for your suggestions...and, maybe I got it. I'll cycle it a few more times tonight, and again tomorrow, and post the results.
Brand new Corsair CX650M.
Typing this on the system. Tried something; removed the HSF, removed the CPU, made sure everything was CLEAN (it was). Pulled and reseated the RAM just because it was easy. Put the CPU back in there, applying pressure to the center of the heat spreader while I...
I really appreciate the suggestion. Seems obvious, but I can't imagine the failure mechanism with the Noctua....and I run Noctua's in all the machines here, and like them a lot. I was careful taking the OEM HS off, let it run for a while to get it warm, came off without any violence. CPU...
Seems obvious....haven't tried it yet. But I will.
I cannot imagine why and how the HS could cause this issue.......kinda like changing your tail light bulbs and having the transmission fall out.....
Really scratching my head over this one. I wanted a machine for my office, doing some audio processing and circuit simulations, nothing too expensive so the integrated graphics were appealing. Put together a system with a AMD Ryzen 7 5700G, on a Gigabyte B550M Aorus PRO-P with 32Gb of Team...
I wanted a 2nd box for my office; doing some audio production, engineering design work. Decided to build a box around the AMD R7 5700G on a Gigabyte B550M Aorus Pro motherboard. Very respectable integrated graphics on this processor. With that processor, 32Gb of ram, 1Tb SSD, it blows your...
Greetings - actually won a NewEgg Shuffle and I ended up with a brand new Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Ultra LGA 1200 Motherboard that's not needed. Here's the link to the board I have for sale:
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813145270?Item=N82E16813145270
I opened the box long enough to make sure it...
Putting a high end build together for a buddy, and my machine is sorely in need of an upgrade. I'd buy a 3090 and a 3080.....today if I could, at retail prices.
I enter the NewEgg lottery, am on the list at EVGA....but I'm not chasing cards.
I'd try some PCB flux cleaner. A spray may do it without resorting to brushing. I'd be concerned about any brushing of those pins, but maybe that's just me.
I use this stuff on newly completed or repaired projects....it just may work. It's designed for cleaning PCB's so it shouldn't attack...
You guys were right, feeling a little stupid here. It is indeed available, and as posted, for Intel it's called "PTT" (platform trust technology). Found it in BIOS, enabled it, all seems good now.
