Yeah if you know someone with amazon - looks like the USB flavor are 1x <$5, 3x pack <$8. Same cheapo model on aliexpress is <$3 free shipping (if you want to wait forever) or if you want to buy a 200 pack for $177 shipped they are .88.5 each (88.5 sents) :p
According to page 2 of this spec sheet there is 4GB soldierd to the MB and one open SO-DIMM slot. (DDR4-2666)
https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/IdeaPad/IdeaPad_3_17IIL05/IdeaPad_3_17IIL05_Spec.PDF
Also says max RAM is 12GB, ie placing an 8GB DIMM in the open slot.
Is there actually any...
looking for a cheapo gen 7 or 8 (dell or HP or whatever) with cpu that works that has the power for an RX580. I have lots of ram. looking to spend in the ~$100 range if possible. (of course in addition to shipping) I do have some spare cpus (i5 7500, i7 8700 etc if I have to plop one in) does...
Yeah, I can do that. A little more fancy / price than I need on the mb but its fair, and thats also a good fair price for the ram. I have quite a bit of spare of ram but if yours happens to be tried and tru with said mb all the better.

10x heatsinks for $12.63. Do I need to be this cheap? Naw. Do I need to buy ugly ass gen7/8 barebone midtower dells/HPs and load them up with stuff I dig out of ewaste? Or get...
What thickness of silicone thermal pads would one recommend? 1.5mm? 2? 3?
Also, when applying, do you guys take the labels/stickers off of the drives for better contact? If so, does that void the warranty?
Thanks!
I know the egg is evil, but the 2TB 670p is down to $76 for the rest of today:

This is lookin pretty good - 1328 core (vs 1342 max boost stock) and mem of 3367 (vs stock 3305) at 80% power.
Not bad for a POS 290 watt proprietary Dell PSU (Precision 3620 MT) with only a 4 pin and 6 pin connector going to the MB.
Im sure it also helps that Im running it with an i5-7500T...
Okay... so Im guessing voltage is just that, and "power" is wattage (volts x amps) as in related to TDP etc...
But what is throwing me off is this is under the "fan" section? Am I looking at the right power limit slider? What would the power limit have to do with the fan?:
I have a GTX 950 in a project box and Id like to undervolt it.
Specifically - EVGA GeForce GTX 950 SC GAMING - Part Number: 02G-P4-2951-KR
In MSI Afterburner I have unlocked voltage control (can increase it only) but there is no option for the "curve editor"
After a few searches apparently...
I guess Im not really * that * cheap, I mean, I pay comcast for gigabit and have iphone 14s n tons of computers n junk, maybe just "like to be cheap when I can"
Sometimes the simplest solutions are overlooked and the best. As you mentioned go thu the comcast - I could get a cheap switch for...
Need a simple reliable (and cheap) router to get comcast gigabit speeds.
I currently have a Netgear Nighthawk R740 AC2600 home router.
I know, not the best router (never really been a netgear fan myself) but I got it as a refurb stupid cheap a year or 2 ago for something like $20 or $30.
It...
I ran into an older system and was wondering if this board could run/boot the newer M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen 4x4 drives

Well, its done!:
Used the following stuff: Thanks Pikachu! (I dont play pokemon, but the kids have buckets of cards)
First step:
After trimming card fit perfectly between pcb and heatsink:
And then a crease for another card part to also slip in between and finish the shroud:
Finished...
So the sata to 4 pin adapter came in and I hooked up the fan. GINORMOUS difference idle, from 55o ish to like 25o ish. Full load went from 90o ish to 70o ish.
I really like how this nautica fan came with not just 1 but two levels of rpm lowering (silenting) adapters. Very cool. (pun...
Thank you all for the great ideas!
I just ordered these, will be here tomorrow:
So I guess I will see how quiet/loud it is at stock. I am a bit of a quiet computer snob.
The NA-FC1 looks really nice but its like $25 and thats adding up to this cooling solution costing more than the card it...
Okay thanks those are some great ideas - tho Im not sure I follow 100%. Not sure why I would need the fan controller or the 4pin fan hub. However I actually happen to have spare 4pin fan hubs on hand.
I REALLY like that fan (NF-A4x20) and its only 15$ on Amazon, that fan looks perfect. Also I...
So I have a Dell optiplex 3060 SFF. I managed to get a GTX 750ti low profile in it but I had to rip the fans off to get it to fit - and it just barely does!
Anyway as one can imagine it gets really hot. I was thinking I could cool it from the rear blowing thu the heatsink. There are a few...
No, I WISH - kills me to see all of those Microcenter deals posted everywhere.
Used to have a (well two!) Frys near by before... well ya know. bought countless MB/CPU combos from them, even forgot about some of them and dug them up years later! lol.
I have handful (3) of i7-8700 SR3QS CPUs just collecting dust.
Calling all super smart budgeters - what is the cheapest barebones I could seek out to house these in? A Dell or HP on ebay? (the limited PSUs make me cringe) something else?
Thanks for reading / help.
(not sodimms) Dont really care about the speed/timings as long as its stable. Would entertain 4GB sticks if the price was right but prefer 8's (who wouldnt)
Looking to bypass fleabay and Mr. Bezos.
Thanks [H] crew.
