    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

Just flashed to the 50 firmware. It got rid of the banding at 4k res, but I think it just has better color interpolation and is masking the problem with the limited/full hdmi rgb range. On this page: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php levels 1-15 are all black in rgb mode, while they are...

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

That might have fixed the color banding in 1080p on mine. I'm not positive though because I tried reverted the monitor driver back to the generic one and I still have no banding at 1080p - so it's possible the registry hacks I did earlier may be what changed this. No banding at 1080p 120hz...

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

I have an nvidia card and it appears that there is a known issue of the windows nvidia drivers refusing to send full range rgb over hdmi, except for "PC" resolutions. When I switch to a resolution listed in the PC group (such as 1024x768), the banding isn't there. But with a custom resolution or...

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

Thanks for checking. Now that I check the options again, it is YUV444 and not YUV422.

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

Hmm, it seems like your display is getting the full 24 bit color information or else you would see some sort of banding. My feeling is that some displays shipped with the 24 bit color enabled, and others with the limited video color mode. Hopefully the setting is in the service menu somewhere...

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

lol, your images look banded to me too because my display can't show the smooth gradients. There is a slight vertical color gradient as well in the image, and I imagine that's why the banding doesn't look like simple vertical lines. If your 39 doesn't have the problem, I wonder if it could...

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

shurcooL, my 39 looks like that too. I think that is happening because as someone reported here or on avsforums, the hdmi input is set to limited/video range (16-235 vs 0-255). I run mine YUV422 instead of RGB to avoid the very noticeable crushing of the blacks, but either way I think banding is...

    2x1GB D9GMH -- $81.50 + Ship

are these confirmed to be D9GMHs? From the few reviews I checked out googling using the part number, they were only able to clock these sticks to about 900. The reviews were from a while ago and the pics show the old style heatspreaders, so maybe they've changed since then...

    D9GMH: 2 x 1GB Kingston Value RAM DDR2-667 - $80 Shipped

well, looks like the Elpidas are not bad, but not spectacular either. They will do 900 5-5-5-15 at 2.1v. That is the max vdimm on the board I'm using them in so I don't know how much further they will go with more voltage.

    D9GMH: 2 x 1GB Kingston Value RAM DDR2-667 - $80 Shipped

just received the 4 I ordered on Monday. All of them are Elpida 6E-E. Oh well, I guess this is not a bad second choice for the price. I haven't tested them yet, but I think those chips are known to clock pretty well. It would be surprising if they didn't hit 900, and with a little luck even 1000.
