Radeon 7 Will Have Day One Linux Support

Right now it's pretty meh, since you can only give one os exclusive access to your gpu at a time. With SR-IOV, the guest os can be given access to metal kinda like IOMMU/VT-x does for the rest of hardware.

Radeon 7 Will Have Day One Linux Support

Oh I know all about DXVK, Wine, Proton, Etc. My issue with those is that when they work, they work spectacularly, and when they don't work it's a total fucking mess. I actually prefer using Linux as my daily driver for basic tasks like word processing and browsing and whatnot. With SR-IOV I'd be...

Could Microsoft Release a Desktop Linux?

What's this? A prime example of what happens when a company with a jillion dollars decides to support a product until the end of its actual useful life? Nah! Dell Votes to Go Public Again

Welp, if you're on the fence, pull the trigger on that Dell now. I have a feeling that after they go public it'll be back to mass market crap boxes with zero configurability like they were up till about 2013

AdoredTV Discusses the Recent AMD Ryzen and Radeon 3000 Series Leaks

God I hope the bit about x570 being required for the 16 core parts isn't right. I'm gonna be pissed being as I just bought a Crosshair VII Hero earlier this year. If ASUS doesn't find a way to make it work (being as this board already has an auxiliary power connector for the CPU) I'm gonna be...

AMD Will Reportedly Launch the X570 Chipset, with PCIe 4.0, at Computex

If pcie 4 is the x570 gotcha, I think I'll pass. Just don't need that extra bandwidth yet. Ill probably be better off sinking the money into a custom loop and 3700x.

Intel’s “Ruler” SSD Stores 32 Terabytes

At a glance, the connector looks like it's keyed properly to slot into an m.2 port. I wonder if it's electrically compatible or if there's gonna be some kinda proprietary protocol fuckery or special high power connector involved. The idea of a QLC version for cold storage taped to the back of...

India Develops Processor Based on Open Source RISC-V Design

RISC is a description of the overall instruction set. Originally, RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) used smaller instructions that could be executed quicker, where as CISC (Complex Instruction Set Computer) like X86 used larger instructions that do more per instruction but use more clocks...

Valve Leaks Steam Game Player Counts

ACTIVE player counts would be more interesting. A decade old F2P game is of course gonna have a zillion TOTAL players, but for all intents and purposes, TF2 is deader than a doornail. You can actually pinpoint the update that put the nail in the coffin using Steam Charts as probably being the...

ASUS Crosshair VII Hero AM4 Motherboard Review @ [H]

It's mainly the processor since the IMC is integrated. From what I've seen though, this board does have some kinda juju going for it that'll hit higher memory speeds than a few competitors. As far as memory goes, I'd recommend picking up at least a 3400mhz kit. I got a Trident Z 3600 cl15 kit...

Tesla's Semi Truck is Really Fast

It's traction control. If those electric motors leaped directly to peak torque without it, it'd sit and spin the tires. An ICE diesel hits peak torque (1000+ ft/lbs) at relatively low RPM (1200 or so) and has absolutely zero traction control beyond a simple differential. They rely on the weight...
