Thanks for all of the suggestions. I will wrench on it this weekend and report back when I narrow it down further or come up with a solution.
Turns out the SSD is the culprit. Thanks again for the help.

If you have a Microcenter nearby you may want to check this out http://www.microcenter.com/product/486482/1710_173_gaming_laptop_computer_-_black . I am guessing it's a Clevo...pretty good specs for the money.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I checked my temps and they were all good. Looking at the logs...the Application logs were all fine but there were some System log warnings: "Event ID 129 – storachi – Reset to device, DeviceRaidPort0, was issued" warnings, which lined up with the freezing...
My current main rig has been solid for almost 3 years and has started to have issues related to the hard drives in the past 2 weeks. I have 4 hard drives installed on my MSI Z87 Mpower which is powered by a Corsair AX 760.
Kingston 120GB SSD (OS)
Crucial 240GB SSD (games)
Seagate 3TB...
My ISP is Cableone and I am stuck with 300GB monthly caps on my 100Mbs connection for about $60. They are also rolling out gigabit service with a 500GB monthly cap for $200/month...In response to a recent complaint to the FCC, they insisted their data caps were necessary or people would leave...
Not so far. I haven't started cranking on it yet, only having time to play some of The Division..highest temp reached was 65C with 37% fan speed which I didn't notice over the system fans. The temperature upstairs during this time was in the low 80's F if that makes any difference.
Just confirming it fit with no issues...I actually had a little more room than I had anticipated. Here are a couple of pictures for anyone who may be in the same situation in the future.
Thanks guys for taking a look at this and the input. I'll move forward with the upgrade. I decided to get this model because of the cooler, lighting options, and color combo(yellow and black build). The regular Zotac Amp is an option and 25mm shorter but if I can fit the Extreme it's...
I have decided to upgrade my 780 Lightning with a Zotac 1080 Amp Extreme but there may be a problem. My case is a Corsair Air 540 which has a listed max gpu length of 320mm. The 1080 Amp Extreme is listed at 325mm but after doing some measuring it looks like it will fit...barely. I did...
I like mine when gaming on the tv. The gyro is pretty handy for aiming. You just have to be willing to tinker with it to get the most out of it. Last night I used it to play TW:Warhammer from the couch on the 60" which was kind of neat.
My Dad is 68, retired and he games pretty much every day on his PC. Thanks to me he has quite the Steam backlog but seems content to stick to his Fallout 4, Stalker trilogy and World of Warships weekly rotation. PC gaming pretty much replaced his previous hobby of building military models and...
Thanks guys, I appreciate helpful comments. It seems to behave itself when I just leave it on the download screen and pause/unpause every once in a while. I'll get all my downloads in line this weekend while I am gone and hopefully they'll be done when I get back. I usually try to stick to...
I picked up a PS4 recently and my download speeds for games/patches are awful. As I sit here now I am looking at 90 minutes to download the last 800mb of a patch and 50+ hours to download The Last of Us. My downloads last night weren't any better with a 6gb file taking about 6 hours. I am...
I am getting ready to leave town for the week so pics wouldn't be up until next Sat/Sun. I think I'll just make it a Plasti dip project and put it in my secondary rig. I needed an excuse to go shopping for a new gpu anyway:D
I recently sent in my 780 Lightning for RMA and was sent a replacement with several areas on the top and backplate which have some scratches/scuffs/nicks. They aren't huge but they are there and they are visible and they aggravate the hell out of my OCD as I look through the case window. I...
Be wary of the Realspace bonded leather chairs. I bought one almost exactly like the one you listed and within a year the covering material peeled off the seat, lumbar and arms.
Cross ship or bust at this point. The way this whole thing has played out, I could see you sending back the 780ti..getting back a 780..and the vicious circle starts all over again.
The Galaxy guy helped me with an RMA a few years ago and more recently the MSI guy responded quickly to a question about my Lightning. Positive experiences so far on the [H] forums.
I'll trade you a white for a red, just pm me the address and I'll mail it Monday. I am in East Texas so you should get it pretty quickly. If you need more than one let me know, I have several.
Man what a bunch of bullshite. At this point I would sell the 780ti and Gene. Move on to a brand like EVGA and at least have the peace of mind to know you most likely won't have to face a clusterfrick like this again should something go wrong.
