So, does that mean that if, for example, someone in a foreighn country specifically wanted to watch packets from a specific location in the USA, they could not ?
Even if that location had a static IP address such as a business.?
Just curious.......
When IP based traffic is sent from point A to point B, it follows a certain path, called hops I think, to it's destination.
So let's say for example I send a packet to a server somewhere else in the world. My PC sends those packets to my ISP which in turn forwards them to...
42C is comfortably cool. Don't even think about it until you get to the mid 70C or above.
31-33C idle is about right. I get 32-34C at idle with the stock AMD wraith cooler on a 2700X
Most of the time......
I just use Ryzen Master to set different profiles.....then set one depending on what...
My current system that I just built last month is based on a ROG Strix X470 Gaming MoBo with a Ryzen 7 2700X cpu.
RAM is G.SKILL Flare X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) AMD X370 / B350 Memory (Desktop Memory) Model F4-3200C14D-16GFX
As you can see, it's...
That's what I've read. Only difference is when transferring really large files. So if you do photography or video editing for example (I do), it could help.
I guess I'll try one.
Thanks guys.
The Over Provisioning and Momentum Cache options aren't available on my recently purchased MX500 drive. Apparently they only apply to older Crucial SSD's ?
These drives got very good reviews by the way. They are touted as "closing in on Samsung EVO drives"
My experience has been 50/50...
I believe a high or rising Reallocated Sector Count is indicative of a failing HHD.
Get your data off of it asap.
I personally have had nothing but trouble from Seagate drives for so long that I stopped using them. I use WD exclusively now for HHD.
There are TONS of NEW 1TB WD HDD's on ebay...
True....
I just cloned my WD 1TB HDD to my new Crucial MX500 1TB SSD and it needed alignment after cloning. But SSD to SSD....I dunno. Wouldn't hurt to check it afterwards would it?
Confession....this "PCI-E Lanes" business is over my head at the moment.
So until I can devote time to studying it, I have a question for the Super Techs..... :-)
SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS
The Motherboard is a ROG Strix X470-F Gaming board
CPU is Ryzen 7 2700X
RAM is G.Skill X-Flare 3200 DDR4...
It was just my time on that one item. Stuff happens.
The ROG Strix X470-F Motherboard, Ryzen CPU, G.Skill RAM and the the larger MX500 SSD all worked out fine.
So which ones do you have the most stocks in? haha
I definitely enjoy the products from companies that make things I want or enjoy......but I still can't actually say i "enjoy" giving them my money. More that it's necessary to pay for things you want or need.
Even corporations deserve to...
Yeah, I think whatever happened here was not BH's fault.
I would guess Crucial shipped them this drive and they sold it just like any other drive.
But one other person in this thread had a potential answer......someone in their fulfillment center or shipping warehouse swapped their messed up...
Thanks.
I ended up using a FREE tool called Mini Tool
https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmanager/how-to-align-ssd-partition.html
Took about 45 minutes to re-align a 1 Terrabyte SSD
The Total Score BEFORE alignment was around 750......AFTER alignment it was around 1120
Truth be told...
Lot's of intuitive suggestions here. None yet have convinced me it wasn't the drive itself.
All comments appreciated and considered.
At the end of the day, it remains possible that an electrical internal fault "could" cause such an event. Doubtful (and rare) as it may be.
However, proving...
The drive was returned to BHPhoto for refund. As mentioned earlier, after a careful examination, nothing in the packaging could have caused such marks.
Random wandering screws in the case? No, no chance ;-)
HUGE difference in what you did and what happened in my case........
In your case, you obviously did something wrong. Totally your fault.
In the situation I explained, the drive worked properly for a short time, then UNATTENDED, I came back and the system was dead. We can guess for years...
Checked it with AS SSD......looks like it needs alignment.
4K Read 30.85 MB/s
4K WRITE 82.43 MB/s
Recommended Software to correct this?
Tried EaseUS Partition Master but got error......
"unable to perform the operation due to insufficient unallocated space"
AOMEI BackUpper can clone the active, booted Disk 0....to another disk...while you've got Windows open and running (if you use windows). Try THAT with CloneZilla.
All from an Interface that a 9 year old could probably navigate.
Trust me...I'm a LONG TIME CloneZilla fanatic....make that......WAS
I used AOMEI BackUpper (free)
The 1TB drive was already an IMAGE of the original. So the SSD is now running a copy of a copy.
Booted right up. FSX runs perfectly on it. No issues so far.
Only reason I posted this is if anyone wonders about it.
I used to use CloneZilla (for like 10 years...
Long ago, I built a lot of machines. Today, maybe one every 3 or 4 years? So I forget some of that critical stuff like that.
But after this....I'll do the same from now on.
No, the SSD was within the return period so I returned it.
I bought another SSD from BHPhoto a few days after the 1st one. The 2nd one was a 1000MB drive It is working properly and has not caused any harm to the computer it is installed in.
I did too. but it was so much that it had over run the edges and gone UNDERNEATH the CPU.
NOTHING you can do about that except remove ALL the OEM paste before ever installing the CPU to begin with. My NEW procedure from now on.
Thx.
Ya, maybe.
I wonder how "moral" AMD would be if I contacted them and asked them to replace the CPU and Motherboard? I'm sure their conscious would be their guide.
The CPU was installed according to their exact directions exactly as it came out of the box. There should not have been...
I just had an ASRock AB350M that was 2 years old give up the ghost last week or so. I started a thread somewhere here about it.
I ended up buying a ROG Strix X470 and Ryzen 2700X.
I didn't have any burning smell. One minute the board worked fine (for 2 years) and when I came back to the...
After almost 4 hours after putting it back together and running FSX I haven't had any issues yet.
I changed a few parameters in BIOS to reduce automatic overclocking voltage adjustments and it's running WAY cooler.
HWInfo64 is reporting Tdie MAX of 65.4C after about two hours of flying in...
Board was running hot with FSX. 84C
OEM Wraith Cooler that came with it.
Decided to remove the CPU and remove the OEM tape/paste and apply Arctic Silver. S-P-A-R-I-N-G-L-Y as in VERY LITTLE.
BUT....
When I removed the CPU, I noticed that there was so much of the OEM tape/Paste that came from...
Bread boarded my replacement motherboard today. Sitting behind me now on the bench running.
Asus ROG Strix X470-F
Ryzen 7 2700X
GSkill FlareX 3200 DDR4 F4-3200C14D-16GFX 16GB
She fired up fine. Sitting at 49C CPU temp with included AMD cooler. They put that thin (too thick IMO) layer of...
So who would you recommend? NewEgg is China. Aren't they all just pretty much product pushers? Any of them that have a 30 day free returns policy is probably as good as any other.
BHPhoto told me they "Never" re-sell a returned electronic component like a computer motherboard or SSD. They...
Maybe. But the fact remains that the SSD was the only variable that changed. And the computer was behind an APC Battery backup so a power surge being the issue is unlikely.
I can accept your theory, if I also accept the HUGE coincidence that it failed within minutes of installing the SSD and...
I'm not 100% sure, but I think the term I was looking for is "Bread Boarding"
When I Google it with "computer", some results turn up that say it's connecting the components of a new build outside a case in order to test them.
Anyone else heard of that term?
Does anyone know the term for when you power up a motherboard to test it BEFORE you actually install it in a case?
There's some term for it but I forgot it.......
I had not heard from anyone until you replied so I already picked one. But thank you for the suggestion. I agree that's a good choice. may get that one if the Asus doesn't work out.
I since had to choose so I went with the Asus ROG Strik X470-F. I hope it wasn't a fuck up choice? I'm...
