    XB271HU -- Actualy G-SYNC IPS, 1440p, 144hz/165hz IPS $500 @ Amazon

The bmiprz in the model number is what indicates IPS. I picked up one of these a year ago. Still love it.

Farm Level 3 control points until you don't get blueprints anymore. That means you hit the cap from CP3s. To get guaranteed GS500 proficiency and dark zone caches, matchmake and get someone to drop GS500 stuff for you. Put the junk or maybe good stuff they drop for you in your stash/inventory...

    The Division 2

Are they free rounds like with Double Duty? I know they nerfed the free ammo from Fill'rup and when Independence procs form my Liberty, it pulls from current ammo supply. Honestly, I don't think I could go without the second LMG, but free ammo would give me pause.

    The Division 2

It's even worse than you think: "This gives us a formula of 1 / 95 / 9 / 8 / 3 = ~0.000049 or ~0.0049% or a 1 in 20,408 chance. "But wait, there's more!" Not every drop in the game is a gold piece of armor. There are purple drops which diminish the odds further, and the chances of getting...

Linux 5.0 Release Includes FreeSync Support and Spectre Mitigation

The Intel microcode updates in Windows replaced BIOS updates for mobos that were never going to get a new BIOS. I'm wondering which takes precedence when both are in place?

Linux 5.0 Release Includes FreeSync Support and Spectre Mitigation

OK, if I've updated my BIOS on my Ivy Bridge (BIOS hack with new microcode) and Haswell-E (BIOS update from manufacturer) rigs, should I downgrade BIOS on both and just rely on Windows microcode updates for the fixes and speed updates or will this speed fix also apply to updated BIOS?

The Nvidia 1660 TI Will Launch on February 15 at $279

NVIDIA stiffed its RTX lineup with VRAM except for the 2080 TI (The 6GB on the 2060 and the 8GB on the 2070/2080 are all laughable). There's no chance the budget line gets proper amount of VRAM.

    The Division 2

If AMD paying the bills kept a real PC fork/version alive, then I'm happy but I'm sure NVIDIA cards will tear this game a new one still. I'm still not sold on the gameplay changes in regards to the theory crafting that drove the YT channels (and hardcore gamers) for the first game, but we'll see...

Can You Detect When Ray Tracing Is Turned On?

You don't smugly cash grab, and rename an entire product line, for an alpha feature and then cry victim when it backfires. Stop apologizing for them. If NVIDIA had launched Turing at the same price point of Pascal with expected performance bumps between 60, 70, and 80 lines (instead of botching...

Microsoft Is Replacing Edge in Windows 10 with a Chromium-Based Web Browser

FireFox has a terrible way of handling certificates (and don't get me started on the bookmark system) so it won't work with corporate versions of things like Office365. Chrome works fine but some things I use at work still only work well with IE.

Streaming Is on a Collision Course with ISP Data Caps

My MyCloud is a NAS and I've mentioned NAS as direct play option with VLC twice now so, yes, I know you don't need a PC. What "media boxes" don't support direct play or sharing? We'll have to agree to disagree on GUI issues and necessity of Plex. My media is properly sorted into folders...

Forgive me, but what are you storing 400 DVDs on then? VLC sees Windows shared folders and Samba shared folders from my WD My Cloud. What else does that leave out? Playing files direct is subscription free.

The point I'm trying to make is the new sticks support enough formats now that you don't need Plex at all. VLC can see a NAS or shared folder and play the files directly. Cut out the middleman. Even my 1st-gen Fire Stick still works with VLC, but tops out at H.264.

PlayStation 5 Rumored to Sport Ryzen 8-Core CPU, Cost $500

No, they're not. They're making up the inflation difference with over-the-top micro-transactions and premium editions. That's nice, but not realistic. If we're talking about pure value, the hardware on a $500 PS5 will destroy a relative $765 PS3. The PS5 will not fail at $500 but you're...

Its codec support is ridiculous for a stick. I don't even need 4K right now but the speed and compatibility should be amazing and pretty future proof with the 10bit HEVC/HDR/Dolby Vision support. They supposedly even fixed the WiFi in the damn things.

Amazon Expands Free Shipping with No Minimum Purchase to Everyone

I don't recommend the free "same day shipping" option ever. It usually means it will be shipped by couriers who are flaky and ignore (and/or don't receive) shipping instructions in your account.

The Division - officially announced for PC!

I feel the single-player campaign, with some dabbling in the Dark Zone and HVTs, has been worth the $13 I paid for the game but I definitely didn't realize how complicated the gear system was going in. Basically you need YouTube and spreadsheets to make sense of it all before and after each...

Chrome 69 Automatically Signs Into Google Accounts

Just switched to FireFox as well. Easy enough to switch back on desktop, but on mobile they want you to create a Firefox account to sync bookmarks instead of importing. They underestimate my resolve to avoid logins, so I just recreated them all manually.

How about a Buy/Not Buy 2080/Ti Pricing Poll

You seem to implying that companies never make mistakes? NVIDIA? Obviously, that's silly for anyone who's been around here long enough. But I don't think they made a technology mistake here (only with the pricing and how the launch was handled). With 1st-gen Turing, they've spent a 1/3 of their...

How about a Buy/Not Buy 2080/Ti Pricing Poll

Based on practically everything we've seen from GPUs since the GeForce256, there is zero chance these first-gen cards stay relevant with the new technologies long enough to properly amortize the huge upfront cost. (particulary the 2080 with its lovely 8GB). Hard no on a purchase. They'll get it...

    RTX2080 and RTX2080Ti Reviews online

Without crypto demand, we'll have see.... Miners were generating an income. They didn't pay increased prices blindly. Without that demand, how are these prices justified for strictly gaming use? 1080 TI were $1500 on Ebay. Now, used ones are 30% of that.

Wow RTX 2070 FE being released 599.99

I initially thought it was because 2070 would be cut-down dies but that's not the case. Completely baffling unless game devs are that gullible about useless install bases. Now my going theory is checkbox feature.
