    Razer Viper Ultimate

I'm loving the Ultralight 2 that I've been using but I'm still intrigued by both the G Pro Wireless and Viper Ultimate in terms of cutting the cord completely. I might go with the G Pro Wireless when it has a reasonable sale here in Canada, just because I've already tried the regular Viper and I...

    Glorious Model 0

The hump on the MM710 will make the biggest difference in feel between itself and the Model O-, and will be a fully subjective preference based on how a person grips the mouse. The G305 will feel more similar to the MM710 in that regard. Besides that, the MM710 has a far better cable, a better...

    Razer Viper Ultimate

Not quite appropriate for the "What Mouse and Keyboard Are You Using Right Now?" thread so making a new one here. This is the wireless version of the Viper. At 74g, that's quite good considering the wired is 69g. The Logitech G Pro wireless is 80g by comparison...

What Mouse and Keyboard Are You Using Right Now?

I've tried 4 of the 6 "ultralights" (MM710/ Model O-/ Model O/ Viper), and I do like the Viper the most thus far, with the MM710 second. I didn't expect to like the Viper so much, but the excellent mouse wheel and overall shape worked best for me. I like the rubberized sides as well, as it...

Anyone else constantly torn between building a tiny ITX and a massive EATX system?

You don't have to use a power brick, things like the HDPLEX 400 exist and all you'll need is a standard power cable. There are many variants of these style of PSU, with PicoPSU's being one of the more notable and earliest type, albeit much lower wattage. NFC's own Youtube has a vid about the...

what's the best airflow quietness case

I'm sure Steve mentions it in the GN vid, but cases are pressurized enclosures when fans are used, and as such a properly designed case cannot have air naturally rising unless there is a deadzone that airflow isn't passing through. This was a common misconception also in the RV02/FT02 days...

Anyone else constantly torn between building a tiny ITX and a massive EATX system?

Never between mITX or EATX, but in the past often thought about and built in SFF <20L mITX , ~27L mATX and ~40L ATX. Those were the targets I felt allowed the smallest size without any major compromises to thermals. The Cerberus-X 24.4L ATX has since silenced that internal argument. NFC S4 or...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

D9L is small enough that something like a Prolimatech Ultra Sleek Vortex will fit above it as an intake should you choose to do so. I imagine newer 15mm thick fans that subsequently came out should also be ok. I used the Prolimatech setup for awhile. That's it's only real advantage over the U9S.

Windows 10: New Study Shows Home Edition Users Are Baffled by Updates

You can't disable directly on Pro, no. What Pro provides is access to gpedit which gives you some policies to manipulate, one being that you can set Windows Update in such a way that it will notify you there are downloads available to be started and then subsequently autoinstalled. That means...

    Fractal Design Meshify S

It's not based on the R6 directly, but rather the S2 variant. That means the internal rail system of the S2 is present instead of the R6's drive cage / 3.25" setup. Realistically, a Meshify R6 SKU would better suit the purpose of the case. The internal rail system favours WCing for pump and res...

DP is a POS connector. How to disable display state detection?

I had an issue with DP that was corrected when I moved to Win10 1703 - the issue existed in all editions of Win10 dating prior to it. The issue - if my monitor was off before loading into Windows from a cold boot or before recovering from sleep, upon turning it on it would be detected as a new...

Threadripper 1900x, gaming build for the next 5 years

Just a cautionary note regarding Threadrippers GUI interface for setting up NVME read on threadripper: With some some precautions prior to installation or adjustments afterward, should be okay, but it's worthy of note that the default setup is a bit wonky.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

The Asrock board has HDMI 4K @ 60hz via the HDMI port (requires 3rd party chip), Thunderbolt 3, and PCI-E bifurcation. By comparison the ROG Strix has 2x M.2. Keep in mind that "ROG Strix" aren't true ROG boards - it's a new mid-range lineup by Asus. The "Maximus" line remains the true ROG series.

    Before asking NCASE about Micro-ATX...

It hasn't changed as much as people seem to think. Here's how I'm perceiving the current market. - Z370 mATX boards are as lackluster as Z270 were, and the lack of PCI-E lanes on consumer CPUs is worsening with PCIE/NVME gaining traction. Additionally, we're not seeing flexible PCI-E slots tied...

Is it time for Nvidia to support Freesync?

Does Freesync now offer operation throughout the entire monitors refresh range, or is it still limited to the monitor's scalar leading to a narrow range of operation? My understanding based on when Freesync 2 was announced was that it would be the only option to circumvent this limitation...

    Before asking NCASE about Micro-ATX...

I suppose from a branding perspective #2 maintains a certain aesthetic, but I prefer the curves of #1. I also like inverted layouts and I was pushing a flexible atx/matx design earlier in this thread, so it ticks all the boxes for me.

    Intel's 8th Generation Core Family - Coffee Lake (LGA 1151, 6C/12T)

There are still motherboards that have PCI-E slots that are traced to the chipset. My Asus Maximus VIII Gene (Z170) has a physical 16x slot which is actually electrically PCI-E 3.0 x4 and routed the chipset. It's one of the main reasons I got it, and one of the reasons I believe the Z270 mATX...

    Anybody regret their 7700k purchase?

    ATwentyX: E-ATX under 20L

I wouldn't necessarily take the lack of replies as lack of interest - this subsection of the forum moves a lot slower than it used to ~1.5 years ago. Personally I like the idea of sub 20L ATX cases and would like to see a modern idea such as the ideas displayed in this thread seen through to...

    X99 on mITX: ASRock X99E-itx/ac

Stick with 2400 - 2666 max if you want to be safe. Anything above that is a potential risk as Haswell-E's IMC is weak and leads to incompatibility or - in extreme cases - IMC failure. Broadwell-E's IMC appears to be quite a bit more robust by comparison.

It doesn't meet the "quality switches" criteria for a lot of people, due to the nature of what the Romer-G switches actually are.
