Intel to lay off Bay Area employees

10pm? Well damn I'd take a 1.5 hour lunch break too if I worked 14 hours by noon. It must suck for the 129 employees, but that's a drop in the bucket for Intel.

    Drivers!

I think anything pre 19.12 should be good. I'm having intermittent lockup issues with 19.12.3 after sleep, that didn't have or noticed when running 19.11.x driver. If you do get a 5700, some stuff I needed to do when I got 5700xt. Use DDU to remove any old Nvida/AMD gpu stuff if not doing...

    1TB WD BLACK™ SN750 NVMe™ SSD - $124.99

^ I'd say something wrong with your order. I got my SN750 1TB yesterday, shipped from LA (Tuesday) to S.F(Thursday) UPS Ground. I ordered around 9am PST on Monday 12/9, later in the day availability showed 2-3 weeks.

Quick Impressions: XFX 5700 XT THICC II

I have the 5700XT RAW 2 model and seemed to run cool (sub 80s) and quiet. Though I set Auto Undervolt in wattman so keeping power usage around ~200w max. The only negative I had so far is initial experience was bad as I had constant black screen flickers after installing. Glad I checked here...

Significant stability issues since installing 5700 XT

Or could just be coincidence and maybe reseating card cleared out some dust in pci-e slot or loose power connections, maybe allowed MB bios to detect the card again and set PCI-E mode to Gen2 or Gen3. The last one is a guess, but I do remember when I was testing a 5700xt that GPU-z would fail...

Star Citizen's single player game delayed again

It takes someone with a huge ego to sell 4-5 digit jpegs and believe he's not ripping people off. Would Chris Roberts pay these crazy prices if shoes were reversed? Probably not, guy is just preying on people with serious addiction\hero worship problems. Have to believe their marketing strat...

Developer sees no reason to add promised RTX support

I have to agree. I know a good portion of users here love the tech behind ray tracing and understand that it's the way of the future, but is not enough as consumer where overall performance and price to performance are main concerns. Next in priority is maybe AA performance as it benefits...

Bought an ex-mining RX480 and it's crashing at stock

That's more like it, the fans on the huge heatpipe HSF rarely go above 25% so big sign it's temp related. Nice to know drivers save your card from burning up, looks like the target temp becomes max temp if temp rises too fast.

Bought an ex-mining RX480 and it's crashing at stock

The way the GPU clocks have stair step look then either a power or temp throttling. Since the target temp for the MSI gaming rx480 is 73c( https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/185789/msi-rx480-4096-160720 ), that is most likely reason for the throttled clocks. Which could be to TIM, fans...

Bought an ex-mining RX480 and it's crashing at stock

Temps and fan speed looks high on load, don't think should touch 75c or above 2000rpm if it's the huge MSI 2 fan heatsink. Maybe dried up thermal paste?

NVIDIA and AMD Are Shipping Fewer GPUs as Retailers Sit on Inventory

Yeah I think the mass market won't go above 27-28" monitor size so 1080p/1440p is the resolution for most of those monitors. Most of the sub $300 GPUs can do those resolutions with ease and maybe in a year or two, APUs can do 1080p gaming with decent settings. Probably a good reason why...

"World War Z" Studio: Epic Exclusivity Is "the Best Deal for Players and Developers"

As a consumer why would I not be pro Steam. Easy to backup/move game storage options (looking at you Origin/Rockstar/Microsoft. I guess everybody except GoG and Blizzard), dependable cloud saves, local network game streaming, strong linux support, VR, big game screen mode, seemingly non...

Hardware Unboxed Calls NVIDIA DLSS "The Biggest RTX Fail of Them All"

Lol, I wish my sarcasm meter and reading comprehension wasn't broken. Watched the whole video and was like where's the Anti-Nvidia stance? Lmao. I generally just trust Hardocp reviews when I'm looking to buy because Brent and Kyle's subjective observations usually match my own and I hate...

    Radeon VII Owner's Club!

Probably reaching power limit (think 330w for vega64, but should be same since it's probably a total PCIE (motherboard + cables) limit). Should be able to keep OCs low on one side (GPU vs Mem) to help the other side stay stable or OC more (ie. 2050/1000 or 1900/1050). I generally play within...

Hardware Unboxed Calls NVIDIA DLSS "The Biggest RTX Fail of Them All"

Wow look at the 4k vs 4k DLSS and 1685p Upscaled vs 4k DLSS at the highlight time(5:26), the quality difference is laughable. Come on Nvidia you're better than this. Hopefully the DLSS implementations get better otherwise Nvidia has better use of their manpower.

Yes, Rian Johnson Is Still Working on His "Star Wars" Trilogy

Dekoth-E- and dgz last two comments are on point. I only watched the movies, some of clone wars show, and played the video games so not a die hard fan. However, Star Wars had a rich lore with just those two mediums that I really cared about the characters and overall story. After watching...

Yes, Rian Johnson Is Still Working on His "Star Wars" Trilogy

^ I get that Disney wants to cast a new generation of heroes since the original trilogy actors are older, but to totally turn off the fans of the original is stupid intentional or not. I mean they do realize who the parents of most of the next generation of fans are right? I enjoyed TLJ, but...

NVIDIA Releases Its Financial Results for Q4 and Fiscal 2019

    SoftBank Dumped Its NVIDIA Stock

^ Read post #46 from jnmunsey. They were doing a collar strat and closed out at around $235 selling price. I'm guessing SoftBank is seeing what most analysts are seeing short term the upside is around $200 for Nvidia while the floor is 75-100, probably better investments to be had for their 3.6B.

    SoftBank Dumped Its NVIDIA Stock

If gaming revenue has peaked then Nvidia's growth is in datacenter/AI and automotive. The problem is both those markets have to account for loss in gaming revenue (~.25-.5 billion a quarter it looks like from last year's peak). If Nvidia just maintains the solid 2.5-3B revenue a quarter...

Cloud Imperium Games Spent $4M a Month in 2017 Developing Star Citizen

^ I believe everything you wrote is true since it's public knowledge who is on payroll and the insane amount used on properties for workforce. The leasing part is a scam if he is doing it, but he hasn't been caught yet so get's a very small benefit of doubt. Really wouldn't be surprised if...

AMD Reported Its Q4 and Annual 2018 Financial Results

Never can get a read on big investors, reason why I let someone else handle my portfolio. My best guess is investors have to put their money somewhere and if they're predicting a recession they would put their money where it will hold value. Then switch investments when bargains are to be had.

AMD Reported Its Q4 and Annual 2018 Financial Results

What a difference a year makes. AMD is now a model of consistency and should be for a while. Then again last year no one saw Nvidia being in as much trouble as there in now from a stock perspective. Tech stocks, go figure.

Cloud Imperium Games Spent $4M a Month in 2017 Developing Star Citizen

I have to believe CIG is close with at least SQ42 as they do have over 400 employees and most people would jump ship if it is sinking in terms of funding (news travels fast inside companies when it comes to job security). However, the problem I see with CIG and Star Citizen is that even though...

Cloud Imperium Games Spent $4M a Month in 2017 Developing Star Citizen

Hmm, yeah doesn't make sense. Maybe a scam to prop the valuation price for the eventual buyout or get more investors if crowd funding money dries up as it looks like CIG needs around > 30 million per year to finish the game.
