Nice vid Kyle, really enjoy these.
I just took delivery on a Clutch Shift B series chair yesterday. The build process is virtually identical. Based on what I saw in your video the chairs seem to be very, very similar, right down to the packaging hehe... The one major difference looks to be...
I've been talking friends and family members with anything Sandybridge and newer out of CPU upgrades for years (in some cases even Bloomfield). SSD's, RAM, and graphics cards is where their money has been spent instead. My 3770K @ 4.8 was still serving me fine up until I sold my 780ti's early...
I was hoping for a lower price on this card. More like $159 for reference, with the custom cards being in the $169-$179 range. All things being equal (meaning you can actually get them) it's hard to imagine buying one of these and not spending the extra $20 for the 4GB 480. Too bad though...
Unfortunately it's not the Ti, it's "just" a 980. I'd be bummed out a bit too... in my case though I started selling off my old gear a couple months ago in anticipation of the new gear from both Nvidia and AMD coming soon. Been living with a 750 Ti, oddly I haven't missed my 780 Ti's as much...
I played in on my XBO because I got if for free. I really enjoyed the game, lot of fun and overall. I think the gaming mechanics were better this time around, with the story being a bit better in the previous one. The PC version sure looks good...
At least the Halo 5 console has a 1TB drive in it. The 500GB in the mainstream version is useless, providing around 360GB of usable space. 6 AAA games and it's all but full. Mine lasted less than a week before I opened it up and installed a 2TB drive, best move you can make with it IMHO. My...
I'm impressed overall. Considering a 290X "was" slower than the 780Ti, this is quite an achievement by AMD IMHO. Almost makes me wish I had gone with 290's way back hehe...
I'd love to see AMD do something to get back into a decent position, or at the very least get to a point where they can compete again with respect to IPC again. I almost talked myself into an AMD machine a while back just for running VM's and stuff, but couldn't do it. I compromised with a...
Wow, where do you live? We might get to 110F (43c) in my neck of the woods a few times over the summer, even with an extra 10c we wouldn't be at your temps. Thankfully our normal summer temps are closer to 90F, but in your case... I'd move hehe...
Don't worry, I don't need a paper bag...
My point is, why reinvent the wheel? Wouldn't we as gamers be better served if NV spent money on resources bringing something new to games rather than a "me too"? I love options, just not ones that are repeats... just like I have no interest in yet...
Really? We need another hair rendering option? Seriously, TressFX is fine, it runs well on both AMD and Nvidia hardware why this? Here's an idea, how about they both get over themselves and work together on making TressFX the best it can be instead of wasting time trying to one up each other...
Any thoughts as to whether or not drivers could improve the performance of the older gen, Kepler and GCN 1.0, GPU's? Just thinking there maybe some driver optimizations that could be done to improve things? Mind you even if it is possible I guess it's not overly likely that NV or AMD would be...
I didn't buy this day one. I waited about a week... watched a bunch of the day one reviews on PSN live, watched a bunch of other game play streams. I saw enough to know I'd like it. Sure enough I do. I never really played multiplayer games on my PS3 or 4 so I only had 1 PSN friend. Now I have...
Nice review guys. If I was in the market for new cards the 970's would be very temping. But as with the 980's I'll pass and wait for the next generation. I'm quite happy with my rig as it sits today.
I think the most surprising thing in this review to me was that 3GB of vram seems to be good enough now in Watch Dogs for Ultra textures. I guess that means they've "fixed something"? If I hadn't already played it on my PS4 because I got my hands on a cheap used copy...
Anyway, the card...
Good review, nice performance per watt for sure. Unfortunately it's just not enough of a performance improvement for me. I'll definitely be waiting for the next generation(s). In the interim I may look at getting a gsync monitor though... just to smooth out that odd bit of micro stutter that...
Although I totally get what you're saying, if everyone did that we'd only succeed in closing one of the better studio's out there.
Sadly the best thing PC gamers could do is flock to new releases regardless of how "late" they are. Show these Studio's what they're missing out on, the...
This is the first time I've ever opted for the digital version of a new release console game when there's a disc version available (not counting $5 specials on PSN sales etc...). I did it purely because I could have it on both last gen and current gen PS systems. Like you I'll probably just...
As tempting as it is to want to own all that 8 core goodness, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed as to where CPU's are these days. Simply put, it comes down to a lack of good old competition to drive innovation. There's just been a series of baby steps for years now and it's getting...
There may be a way to disable them, I haven't looked into it. It's not a huge deal to me at this point
We actually don't use Surface tablets hehe... Our field techs have either iPads or Samsung Note 10's. They choose based on their preference.
Wow this has been a fun read, might as well throw in my 2 bits...
I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro on three of my PC's. I ran them all in their full Metro glory for some time to give the good old collage try. After a few months I found I was getting a long fine with it. At that point I...
I've had 7 750Ti's go though my hands. A couple Gigabytes and the rest were EVGA FTW's. The EVGA's all ran beyond 1400mhz and the Gigabytes both hit 1380+. The 750ti's make nice dedicated PhysX cards.
It is almost a week old now... but it wasn't when I originally posted it in the other thread (it was a couple days old) hehe...
I agree it is a form of damage control but its also an admission that it's not performing as intended with ultra textures. It seems like a good thing to me that...
Apparently Ubisoft is listening.
From Forbes.com "Watch Dogs is an important release for Ubisoft, and it’s reassuring to see their team working on improving the game for PC users. Nvidia is also continuing to consult with Ubisoft engineers on optimizing drivers for the game."
You had to...
From my perspective Nvidia must be really pissed. They look really bad atm... that their 780's can't play at ultra is pretty embarrassing considering their involvement in the game IMHO. Especially considering they're bundling with their higher end cards
I would bet they're working...
I'm quite surprised that an Nvidia sponsored title is running this poorly on their top tier gaming card. Either is was a massive miscalculation on their part because they're stupid, or you'd have to think other factors came into play that are causing issues with the performance. Consider this...
Yes... this review I was waiting for. Glad you guys did this :)
Now... looking at that price... anything thoughts of tri-SLI 780ti's vs tri-fire 290X's?
I think I already know how that'll turn out anyway at 4K res but it'd be interesting to see.
These look like great cards and would have been my first choice for the R9 290 series. Because of the prices though, I ended up going with a pair of 780Ti's. I got a really good deal on reference EVGA's so I actually picked them up for substantially less than 290x's would have cost me. Being...
Yeah I hear you, I just like to get 2 years out of my build and that comes in Jan (2 years usually meant I skipped a gen).
I have to admit to being somewhat surprised buy the performance of this generation. Enough that I was tempted to get a pair of 780's back when they launched but just...
Getting closer to deciding on new cards. Just the 780ti review and a Mantel review to go... this has been fun hasn't it? For me it's been the most fun reading forums in ages. LOL... Good times, good times... :)
Very impressive! Nice job [H] crew! This week should be fun :)
Looking forward to seeing the 780ti, the 290 non-X and of course Mantel. By mid December I should know what I'm getting myself for Christmas.
