seeing that Softbank just reported a 60% increase in their quarterly profits, they probably had a pretty hefty short hedge that they profited on immensely to make up for the loss from their original 4 billion investment.
How do either company even figure out their revenue distribution of mining vs gaming? Like, how does NVIDIA know it generated $600 mil in crypto related sales? Do they just use a 3rd party app to see how many people use the cards (kinda like steam for gaming)? and then apply some...
A bit confused on the article. Hasn't Apple and Belkin been advertising a 2.1 cable that will do 8k for over a year now? Have they been mis-advertising it for this long and suckering people? I dont see anything in the specs of their cable that relates to what this article is saying. If...
Freesync can be used over hdmi 2.0. AMD showed it working back in 2016 and they have monitors listed in their support page that say its supported. I would think if nvidia really really wanted to they could update their drivers to support it also.
I'll probably just wait. I do 1440p just fine with my 980ti. No need to upgrade until I can get my hands on an AMD card that will get within the freesync range for 4k. hopefully the new year will bring it.
Thanks for the replies. I did some digging and 4k monitor she got me is a freesync one. so I will probably just wait till next year and see what amd has to offer. Hopefully they will have something that will get within the range. if not, maybe nvidia cards will come down in price and I...
Those buying used, do you mostly have good luck with your purchase?
I'm kinda weary dropping 500-600 and have no refund.
My wife informed me she was getting me a 4k display. Unfortunately I still game on a 980ti. I was just ooking at new egg and the new 1080 ti's are the same price as...
In the second pic, the lamp on the far wall is casting duplicate reflections on the floor right next to each other. That seem normal? Looks a little weird and not accurate for ray tracing I would think. I dont see another light source that would cause that.
*edit. actually both the low...
im a T-Mobile subscriber. I've owned a s6, s7 and now and s9. I fly to Europe or Asia and back once every 2 months. I'm a bad boy and never turn airplane mode on. I play offline games on my phone when I'm awake.
When I take off, after just a few minutes of taking off I have 0 service...
Dont see much issue with this. Being sponsored is being sponsored. If a crappy kitchen knife company is sponsoring me to sell their crappy kitchen knife then you better believe that, on video, this crappy knife is the very best tomato cutter there ever was!
what is the comparison of 1080p with rtx versus 4k without it in terms of visuals? Since developers are seeming to embrace it, will the lighting using rtx at 1080p make the overall scene visually more appealing than a hi 4k res visual would?
I have seen demos of it but of course they...
This is probably their way of selling all of their overstock of the 1080s. lots of people will go buy 1080tis for 600-700 now on newegg. then once they are all gone, nvidia will screw all those people and drop the 2080ti price.
I'm not an intel fan by any means but I think they are getting a bad rap. This is all marketing plain and simple. Everyone jumping on 7nm will market that fact. We are on 7 they are still on 14nm..we win! Marketing doesnt care that intels 14nm is more refined, fine tuned and is on par...
How do they go about making a discrete product without needing assistance of amd's and nvidia patents? Don't AMD and NVIDIA pretty much own most of them?
I dont get it. Kids can kill kill kill, shoot, behead, rob, steal, etc etc but as soon as a game adds some boob and butt, its adult only. lol
with that said though, I must be a bad parent because unless a horror survival game consists of chase the evil butterflies, my kids aren't anywhere...
Maybe I have a setting set wrong(?) but other than the landscape, the game looks blah to me. I don't think you need a better video card, I think they need to fix their game. The buildings appear blah, the textures appear blah. Maybe needs more tessellation? It should run a lot better...
If our government had any actual proof that they caused a national security issue, the phones would be outright banned. This is a cold war fear campaign.
Question on Wolfenstein. My buddy has a vega64 running on a 1700x ryzen. he's playing it at 4k on mein Lebien setting averaging between 60-70fps.
is there a difference in your setup that would cause 1440p to be the Highest playable setting? was it stuttering on you at 4k?
Why aren't the games which use Vulcan tested at 4k? Vega 64 clearly dominates 1440p with these games and can run them at 4k.
How much of an increase would you even expect in Doom 1440p when your already getting 142fps.
I owned the 990FXA-UD7 board.
From day 1, I couldn't get my keyboard to work without being in Windows. In order to get into the BIOS or safe mode or anything that required me to hit a key before Windows loaded I had to plug in my ps/2 keyboard to do it.
I never overclocked it or...
Maybe Fury X should be involved in this review as well? I know it's older card but still AMD's fastest and it shows the differences. Polaris is low end and I wouldn't expect much of a difference (Plus it sucks hehe). If we go back and look at some of these old reviews for Fury X it does...
So in a nutshell we have a great $200ish card that can come close to competing with a 390/980 in DX12. Toss dx11 games at it though and AMD still has the same problems they have always had with DX11 and can only compete with a 970. Until DX12 is the defacto API, AMD is going to continue to...
Comparing these results with your 980ti overclocked article is rather interesting. It's almost as if there is no value for the 1080 FE's unless you want overclock them. Fallout 4 on the 1080FE is less than 1 frame faster than an MSI 980ti Lightning? Only 4 frames faster in Rise of Tomb...
The article itself was written out of emotion and frustration. So the thread followed suit. What else was to be expected? lol.
I'm not getting a new card this year, my old 980 will have to do till next year but it's been super fun following this thread. :)
I'm more interested in those AIB cards now. Maybe they have a good card on their hands? AMD shows what it can do with low power and markets it that way. The AIB's then come in and market it towards the mid tier showing what it can do with more power, charging around 300-350 range to battle a...
because that's a common issue with alot of the comments on here. people are complaining that AMD's under $200 card is only on par with performance they had from a year 1/2 old card (980). From that logic, why did the 960 get great a great review here when it couldn't even beat the year and...
What is the actual beef with this card? When the 960 was released, it could not beat an old 780 @1080p. [H] gave it a great review along with a Silver award only knocking it down because it had 2GB of memory. Now here is an under $200 card that looks like it can keep up with a 980...
This is probably a good way to gain market share. If 2 $199 cards can even get remotely close to a 1080 (wouldn't have to beat it really), there will be some people buying them them 2 at a time. Problem is that real dx12 titles need to come out (Not dx11 titles with dx12 patches).
Of...
I'm not a math person and will leave this here for you all to hammer through. Yes, I know it's SA but it looks like he did a bit of homework.
Pascal, A New King?? - Clarence Spurr
According to this article, Pascal offers no IPC gain at all and is just basically utilizing the speed increase...
I believe this is the whole point. Will Hardocp bench content creation suites or just games? Based on the conclusion of the article, you just have gaming in mind and they aren't targeting the card for gaming. Yes, it can play games but that's probably not where it shines, which is why they...
I love the reviews here and I check the site daily in order to compare the playable results vs just the raw numbers others throw up.
I'm not sure how to write this without it sounding confusing. :)
Sometimes I feel that too much weight is added to some fluff settings in the reviewers...
yeah, I would think AMD and Gigabyte are just 3rd parties here. It would be like taking a consumer to court and making them throw it away. They will probably be able to keep selling everything they have purchased from CM.
on the flip side, the coolers from CM being sold can be stopped which...
This is with everything on, godrays etc. He gets about another 10fps on top of it if he lowers the godray settings. I just checked out overclock3d.nets new benches and they are showing roughly about the same thing with the 980ti only beating it by a little over 1 frame. Your saying the...
my son's fury-x is now getting an average of 51fps at 4k with the new drivers. presets at ultra. it's still dipping down into the hi 30's for minimums though. seems to be stutter free as well. looks like a good driver update finally.
I haven't seen this posted. Figured I would throw it there. Anandtech testing AMD and Nvidia GPUS's working together in Ashes.

Lots of really good stuff to take from this!
what I find most interesting about this thread is the fact that it's not only old news, but the fact that it was broke by wccftech back on Sept 6th.
amd already came out and said they weren't going to slow down nvidia and pascal would ship with it.
all the hardcore acting like this is new...
