23.9.1 has a weird way of controlling max GPU clocks. "Minimum Frequency" +25 MHz or so is actually the Maximum frequency. 23.9.2 fixes that and lets Max Frequency work instead. Problem is now the VRAM clockspeeds are throttling down in 3DMark so performance is worse overall. Look at the...
Both 23.9.1 and 23.9.2 are buggy in 3DMark. Hopefully they can get it straightened out within a few more updates. So far I have the top Graphics score of anyone in 3DMark Firestrike +Extreme +Ultra and Timespy +Extreme. 23.9.2 introduced a bug fix for core clocks along with a regression for...

Why wouldn't they support the warranty? I can't find anything on their website that says they won't. I also don't see how it's any different than vacationing in China and bringing home a CPU.

I bought a 7700X from MicroCenter at the end of June that turned out to be a dud. I'm going to try RMAing it after I can get a replacement. I've heard that process takes 1 1/2 months with AMD. I've found an AliExpress seller that's been active for four years with 99% positive feedback and 5...
Amazon is listing October 3rd shipping dates. I ordered one thinking fine I can wait a month and cancel if I find a better deal in the meantime. Within like 16 hours Amazon sent me an email updating delivery date to September 15-20. I take it that they are just being conservative and then...
These are new, not recertified like the deals from a couple months ago. $420 off. Sale ends in 10 hours.

I don't know about them, but I took that to mean a APU with the GPU side bigger than any of the existing retail models and maybe some HBM or GDDR6. An all out 125w+ APU with gaming/rendering performance equivalent to a mid-tier GPU will come some day.
Why do so many people think that's worse than the fragmentation between Socket754 and 939? They were still releasing new 754 SKUs after 939 was out but it was a crippled system where the fastest processor was only released as a OEM mobile chip without a heatspreader. Some people bought the...
Such as? They just added the support classes so now they need to get the crafting classes in for me to start testing. I always intended to be a crafter but 99% of the backers just wanted to PvP so that's the core done thus far.
A product that people "would buy" is a very very low bar when you only have 2 serious players in the entire market and they aren't covering exactly the same price points. Why are you trying to spin AMD's previous failures to sound like NVidia's successes? Vega should have used less power, or...
I'm confused by this story. Was she wearing a shirt like in the still photo where only a small portion of the breast is exposed for the baby's mouth? If so why was anyone bothering in the first place?
In retrospect it now looks like this whole thing can be summed up as NVidia hadn't tiered their chips out properly the first time around and quickly corrected their mistake.
That's a strange way of saying one company has always had more R&D and manpower than the other, and that the weaker party had only managed to get ahead when the former had grown complacent with greed. Do you think there is something inherent to Intel's staff that makes their employees more...
They will probably trash/recycle more of those than sell at this point unless you mean random Google employees stealing parts and listing them on Ebay privately.
I would likewise be very surprised if there aren't already plans in motion for a 3920X 12c24th slotting in with higher clocks at the same TDP as the 3900X and a similar 3970X vs 3950X situation for the 16c32th tier.
It's a damn shame they can't launch it by the Christmas shopping season. We don't know if the R VII production will have totally ceased by then but it's going to happen soon-ish. The better custom RX 5700 XTs on the way like the Nitro+ and Red Devil will be nearly identical in performance to...
It's not that Kega was ever a bad emulator because I've used it extensively myself. The bigger problem is that the people who start projects like this rarely open-source it for the community when they go dormant and stop caring themselves.
I have that chip and it only does 5GHz if you have above average watercooling and one of like the two or three strongest motherboards available for the platform. It doesn't accomplish nearly as much computational work at that speed as the current Ryzen architecture would with subambient cooling...
Well yeah, obviously a 5GHz boost clock Ryzen is coming EVENTUALLY. It's not going to be the 3950X or anything else this generation. Even if we get a refresh 3970X in ~9 months I doubt it's more than 100Mhz improvement.
It's not really telling us much of anything other than 1.6GHz is the minimum stable speed it has to run at with full load in a dusty air-constricted case inside a cabinet next to a DVR/receiver that's also producing some heat. If this same SoC was included on a standardized mini-ITX motherboard...
Under chilled water maybe, but I wouldn't get up my hopes of doing that with every card under normal water cooling unless you plan on cranking the voltage to an unsafe point for longevity's sake.
I have the laptop version of the 1660Ti and it's a very powerful mobile GPU but it's still at the mercy of "laptop gaming" memes like the fact that you have to use headphones or the fans cranking up inside overwhelm the built-in speakers of the Dell G5. I don't see how a RX 5700 further cut...
For 99% of users this card will not get hot enough to need the backplate unless you customize the fan curve for quieter operation. At 100% fan speed and 1.313v core the highest GPU temp I could get was 74°C from benchmarks (no longer torture testing though).
50th AE has higher clocks than reference XT but same voltage and only 8w more added to the power limit. I would be surprised if they aren't at least somewhat binned. Because if they aren't... that means the reference XT should have gotten the same 50Mhz bump.
The Fury X at 100% was louder than any of the AMD cards mentioned here yet nobody brings it up because the stock BIOS didn't use the upper range of the fan's RPMs. The RX 5700 XT BIOS takes advantage of what cooling the blower can provide and of course that's going to be loud until one of the...
Doesn't that look like the worst is already over in terms of increased cost per current products? Navi10 is out of the door already and big Navi sounds like it will arrive in time for a revised product stack once the 7nm process is matured. In the meantime AMD and NVidia can play their back...
NVidia has pushed the pricing upwards successfully already. Are we ever again going to see $200 cards that blow away anyone passed their teens? Lower bins of the 5700 chip can be produced for $300 after a few months. I'm sure the Asian market for example will see a cheap variant we don't get...
Some day there will be a 27-32" 144Hz 1440P/1600P Freesync 2 monitor with the color quality of IPS that's NOT CURVED. I want more pixels than my current 1920x1200 setup but I want Freesync, HDR, and I want to keep the quality of my current IPS panel for watching movies. Am I looking for such a...
The only way I see there NOT being a RX 5800/RX 5900 (RX 5800 being a salvaged die with dead CUs from 5900) is that it comes so late they decide it name it the 6xxx series or something else. A 30% larger die Navi10 with the 16GB HBM2 setup from the Radeon VII would already be a competitor to...
Maybe I'm just missing it but I don't see the third option. Or are you suggesting "little kids" transition directly into "Old men" overnight without a gradual transition.:oldman:
i7-6700K (gimped OC) & 5700XT AE (OC) vs i7-6700K (stock) & 5700XT (stock) vs i7-6700K (OC) & Fury X (OC)

CPU is slower these days because of the security patches and my gradually dying AIO.
