hey guys, i have a smoothwall linux box up and running and thought about this, if i were to connect the power cable from my WAP and modem (both 12v) to the computer's 12v rail (rated at 8amps) would it cause any problems?, my WAP draws 1000mA and my cable modem draws 750mA, whats the safest way...

its version 3, the reason i want to switch is that once in awhile the router will just crap out and give me horrible ping in FPS games and slow the whole network down.
i am wired to my router.. i tried downloading the drivers for the NIC off of asus but once i tried to install it, it sayed processor type not supported? any other suggestions, im serious im about to smash this piece router to bits pretty soon if i cant fix this problem :mad:
:mad: hey guys i have a WRT54G version 3 and once in awhile i would get nasty high ping like 250+ when gaming when regular it would be 30-50... its been becoming more frequent.. ive tried so much crap it works for about 20mins then its back to ultra high ping, anyone have a fix??
