Long story short, For a basic sound bar arc (Dolby digital) is fine. Earc upgrades to Dolby digital Plus but on most soundbars you won’t be able to hear the difference. Earc also streams Dolby atmos but this only really matters with full 7.1 and higher setups. Streaming services only provide...
Inflation and the greater cost for wafers compared to last gen is to blame. Microsoft is losing $200 per each Xbox X as an example. Sony and Meta raised prices in most markets.
I bet 90% of 4090 owners are system/CPU limited at 1440p and 4k in a lot of games. CPU improvements just have not been keeping up with GPU improvements now that DLSS is able to run things at 1080p and Up-res and insert new frames.
I don’t think 3090 and 40 series will really be pushed until more next gen games come out in a few years. PS4/xbox is still holding things back as the targets for game development. For now only 4k gamers and high refresh 1440p gamers might benefit. I think I’ll stay with my trusty 3070 and...
There is also another dip usually a bit bigger about 6 months after release after the new cards start to be in stores reliably and the mid range gets announced which is usually faster than the last gen top dog.
Nvidia treats AIB like shit. Jay Z 2 cents asked EVGA is they are losing money selling a 3090ti at $1400. The answer is yes. This is while Nvidia is selling their own 3090ti on Bestbuy for $1100.
Personally, I am expecting the Founders 4070 to drop in February/March for $650 to $700 and roughly equal 3080ti/3090 performance. Other brands would be a bit higher
My goal is to snag a 3090 ti for $550.
I don't have this monitor but even though it can accept a 165hz signal. It likely can't actually output that many frames. Some say to set refresh at 120hz. This is a multiple for all video and game refresh rates. Everything will be a bit smoother.
I finally had a 3080 in my cart. Just couldn’t pull the trigger. My little office can’t handle the heat. I’ll stay with my more efficient 3070 and wait to see where the next sweet spot is.
very tempting to upgrade my 2700x but I am holding out for the x3D cache 5800. I am sure it will be at least $450 though, so perhaps it is better to get an upgrade now. That 5600x would work great.
So, this 3090 has been way too much work dealing with undervolting and pointing fans at it. I Don’t feel like putting work into pads when I have never seen it hit over 100 for hash rate. Decent card for gaming but my 3070 is enough for me. My 3060 and other cards never gave me this much...
I picked up an open box Asus 3090 Tuf for $2050.
Mining quickly gets the memory to 110 degrees celcius so I assume putting new pads in required if I want to continue mining.
I already have a 3070 non-Lhr so I am wondering if it is worth keeping the 3090. Mining seems like it might fall off a...
Sell the 1080ti. No warranty left on it now. Prices will drop. I am already seeing my local microcenter have a lot of nvidia cards in stock regularly. The video card shortage is finally getting better, prices will start dropping. Only the 3080’s and 3090’s have a really shortage in my area.
Shoot. I meant 5600G (not 5700G). I play at 1440p with a GTX 3070. Most games are not very CPU limited except for outliers like CyberPunk or Tombraider
I picked up a 5600G for $186, plan to sell the 2700x for $140 or so. Is it worth the upgrade/convenience? Seems about 20% faster in games. I have a x570 motherboard.
Are these dual rank? I have 4 x 8 GB of 3000mhz DDR 4. Looking to upgrade when I get a new AMD chip after the holidays for my x570. Currently have a 2700x
My microcenter has no DDR5 in stock, so the news Intel chips seem pointless to me right now.
Yes faster, but the whole ecosystem needs to mature a bit.
I built my subwoofer with mdf and then covered the outside with barn wood planks. Sanded and finished it.Looks great but very thick and heavy. Good characteristic for a sub though.
I find rear and side surrounds pretty distinct. Front channels seems a bit higher in front of me and a bit echoey but still inside my head rather than directly between my ears. The center channel always sounds like it is coming from my forhead, a bit high and forward. Voices definitely seem...
I hate the phone app requirements. The PC app on the Microsoft store crashes immediately. Make sure to download the full Windows PC client from creative.
I don't like the effect on my Shure earbuds. It's much better on my Massdrop/Sennheiser HD6XX but it can be a bit hissy in the treble when...
We still have tariffs in place. This probably adds 20% to the price once you include mark-up. Also Asia is still experiencing chip and component shortages. This has driven up the prices on those parts.
Realistically, I think it will take two years to really iron out the bugs and deal with shortages pushing up prices and slowing release dates. If you can't wait, I would get the 8K Yamaha at Costco that pops in stock sometimes.
Very tempted. Can anyone confirm this is a TLC drive? (Not qlc.) The Tom's review mentions a fear of manufacturers changing specs at any time. This drive has no DRAM for those who care.
On my 3070, I had problems when one monitor was on displayport and the other was on hdmi. Lot's of gltiches, stutters, screen disconnects. When i switched to displayport for both monitors the issues cleared up.
