I have used Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and Abit (no more) throughout my PC gaming years but settled on Asus in recent years. I just upgraded from a Hero VI to a Code XI and am very happy with the usual comprehensive features that the ROG Maximus brings to the table. OCing the i9-9900K was fairly easy...
Did anyone notice how smug Jensen was when he pointed at the frame rate chart and said "We are aware of that" when the screen showed the frame rate dropped after enabling DXR? He then went on to show the DLSS feature pushing ("boop") the frame rate back up again. The optimistic side of me tells...
I got the same findings after testing BFV on my GTX2080Ti rig - 3440x1440 at Ultra graphics @ DXR Medium gave me 70-80 fps which fluctuates downwards. I thought the saving grace from Jensen was his "boop" remark about DLSS pushing up the frame rates taken away by DXR so I'll wait and see if DICE...
I remember my ATI 4870X2 was so darn hot the picture label actually peeled off and curled outwards after using for some time. That was the last time I bought a GPU with the reference "one fan/blow outside the case" design. Glad that Nvidia's own cards now come with 2 fans but I'm not too sure...
I see frame rates cut in half (from 100s to 50s) when I enable DXR at Ultra in BFV. DXR at Medium was more acceptable at 70-80s but it fluctuates downwards.
Out of curiosity I examined water puddle reflections with DXR Off and i still see the trees/rocks reflected accurately as well as follow...
Thanks. Learnt something new. Its good to know that the GPU can offer hardware acceleration for playing movies as well. Especially useful for 4K movies although I don't have the software to play 4K movies.
By the way i just got BF5 at half price and couldnt wait to try out ray tracing. Just like to share my findings on my i7-4770K @ 4.2GHz/16 GB RAM/GTX 2080Ti/Win10 vers 1809 setup:
Framerates tested at the beginning of Story mode's "Under no flag" first "Follow Mason" level
DX11 (DXR disabled) ...
I am considered one of the dunce "side-graders" who went from 2x GTX 1080s SLI to a GTX 2080Ti. It was my first time getting a "Ti' series card as all along allamy rigs were using SLI (GTX 580/780/1080s x2) so I mistakenly thought 2x GTX 1080Tis = a GTX 2080Ti.
To make a long story short, I...
For me its always about the games - the software drives the hardware upgrade urge. I upgraded for the games all the time - Quake II, Halflife2, Doom 3, Far Cry, Crysis, Crysis 3, Witcher III... Just upgraded to 1080 SLI this year and that was followed by a deluge of game buying - Assassin's...
Guys playing games is no different from women watching Oprah or Dr Oz.. or doing online shopping, as if those activities are less sedentary than gaming. If any man is told to get his butt off gaming and get outside, he should tell her "Would you rather I go shoot some rabbits or booze at the...
I think its in the same class as listening to music or watching TV/movies at home. In fact, its a combination of both - both your eyes and ears gets entertained, and at least you're also fiddling with your keyboard and swiping your mouse lol. Neither of them can be considered as sports, not in...
I actually went to buy BO3 (at promo price) after finishing IW. Sad to say, the BO series seems to have consistently bad graphics compared to the run-of-the-mill annual COD refreshes, if I recall correctly they use a different game engine.. I don't know how to describe it, the environments just...
Yes, many years ago X80 denotes the flagship but now an X80 is a gimped version of the true flagship (Titan/Ti). If they already know the maximum potential of what their new GPU chip is capable of, why not push it as the flagship X80 out the door first (like they used to do) then follow up by...
There is a bright side to SLI.. all my previous CODs and BF games + the 3 Crysis games all supported SLI out of the box. Which was why I was puzzled to find COD-IW not supporting SLI at launch.
It's sad that AMD (ATI) has gone underdog status (except for some of their self-redeeming mid/budget...
Yes I didn't expect the Titan to be so much faster than a 1080, but the price of a Titan is truly prohibitive at my side of the pond, although I'm certainly not saying the 1080 is cheap. I've been doing SLI (or dual-core GPU) since the 2000s and when there is SLI support the returns are truly...
Just wanted to know how many of you guys who upgraded to Pascal are happy with your investment/upgrade. I upgraded from GTX780 SLI to GTX1080 SLI and although I am very happy but I'm also "less than awed" of the boost in performance. That is not a criticism mind you, the reason I say that is...
They still haven't fix the Redux versions of Metrol 2033 and Metro Last Light - both can't be launched and they offered no solutions! I had to fall back on my vanilla versions of both games and wasted money on getting the redux edition bundle (although it was at a very good low price for both).
I'd have to admit that IW is really growing on me, I've finished the campaign but going back to play select missions and I'm actually impressed. Impressed is a big word as I have been disappointed with the recent iteration of the COD franchise like Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3. IW is...
Battlefield 1
Pros
- Next-gen graphics
- Excellent sound
- Hollywood blockbuster caliber cut scenes
- Creative and interesting storyline and narrative for different game segments
- Slow pace and easy gameplay (I like to play games to relax, not as though I'm completing chore are chores)
- Feels...
l upgraded my rig to run an ultrawide monitor setup, didn't even bother if it's VR-Ready. Being able to watch movies on a huge screen inside a VR headset certainly got my interest if it can be made portable, but I do not like the idea of being strapped with cables and swinging my arms in the air...
As someone pointed out, Gabe Newell is too busy counting money from Steam to even bother thinking of making HL3...
For all we know, the team who made Halflife 2 may not even be with Valve anymore.
I'm even more surprised no one actually made a Halflife movie, considering we have such junk game...
To its credit, the cut scenes are all very well done and the space battle sequences are worthy of being a standalone Wing Commander-type game in itself.
The strange thing is that I'm getting higher framerates in IW compared to MW Remastered!
Yes they use variations of their own IW engine, seems like the BO series uses a different one from the regular COD series. The problem is not only blurry textures its their way they render the texture maps, it just doesn't come across as close to photo-realism as the way things are rendered in...
OK I take back my words, it doesn't look 2009, the graphics just doesn't look as realistic as what we see at BF3 or BF4 and those were old games. Anyone who played BF3 and BF4 will know what I mean. I don't know how to explain it, the graphics are nice but just not in a realistic way. Anyway I...
Someone said the graphics look 2009 and textures seemed low-res - I completely agree. The past few CODs (Ghost/AW) were the same - gosh when are they going to go Frostbite3 or Unreal4? My guess is they not willing to pay the licensing costs or they only cater to consoles and port to PC so they...
Thanks for the clarification, I'll look out for that. For such a "nonsensical" FPS the upgrade/progression menus seem unnecessarily complicated.. it plays so much like Painkiller and for such a small developer the graphics are really nice, SLI (Shame on you GOW4!) and 21:9 support right out of...
Thanks for the explanation. It's rather odd.. when I go back to the same areas (where I have completed) to free roam, there is no longer any quests to do, so just go to the areas marked with enemies to wipe them out.. and that's it. I hope there are more areas because those I have cleared it's...
Help me out here guys, I've been playing this game thus far doing (side?) missions for the Master Smith dude, the Gangsta lady boss and even the dude standing guard inside one of the rooms... my question is - where is the Campaign mode? If I do not go to these 3 characters for missions, I don't...
On the bright side, Shadow Warrior 2 comes with SLI support right out of the box, coming from a small developer like Flying Wild Hog, so its not too bad. Most of the COD and BF series support SLI too so things are not as gloomy as it may seem. The only prime suspect for games not supporting SLI...
Finally got the installation to start gosh!! I had to go to the Windows Store to "purchase" the game again (don't know why it doesn't show "You Own This" anymore) in order to initiate the process all over again. Once I log in to my Windows account, then it detected that I have already purchased...
Guys I'm up my neck in this, I just bought the Gears of War 4 for my PC this morning. I got an email confirmation which thanked me for buying the game and confirmed receipt of payment. When I look at the GOW4 page at the Microsoft Windows Store, is see "You Own This". My question is, where is...
Thanks for the inputs guys. The 77GB download looks daunting especially when my internet connection is not up to speed but I just read the PCGamer article and it really seems good (will have to wait for SLI support though). I will pull the trigger, and hopefully be able to play it by Tuesday...
I'm keen on the game too but unfortunately there's no retail boxed version, you'll have to download from the Windows Store. Read a lot of people having problem with their downloads (hang halfway etc). Rather expensive at $60 too but YouTube videos I've seen looks good and probably worth it...
Interesting that you posted this thread, I'm using a X34 Predator too and am currently awaiting to collect my second GTX 1080. At 2560x1440 I would say a single GTX 1080 would suffice but at 3440x1440 a second one is not an extravagance. Case in point? The Witcher 3 and Crysis 3 still can't go...
I have yet to see a vanilla edition of the ROG Strix, at my side of the pond there is only one version - the OC version which has a 1,936 Mhz clock boost. The box doesn't even have the word 'OC' on it! Its only the specs which states that it has a max boost clock of 1,936 Mhz that tells you its...
I come from GTX 780 SLI and boy was I surprised at how powerful the GTX 1080 is! I thought it will just be marginally faster than my SLI cards but I was dead wrong, just one GTX 1080 totally blew away my SLI GTX 780s!!
I'm in Asia. The ROG Strix's $100 difference is compared to the price of a (lower factory OC) Palit/Zotac GTX 1080. The price difference compared to the other 2 Taiwanese giants MSI and Gigabyte is not as drastic (in fact the MSI cost slightly more).
