Are the AMD drivers really that bad?

It's not that I thought it was happening it was. It's based on facts not made up stuff. You needed two 980s really 980 tis back then that's a fact.

Are the AMD drivers really that bad?

Not idiots at all. I remember the HDMI 2.0b fiasco. All of a sudden it was a must have feature out of no where (that was perfectly timed for AMDs release) even though there wasn't a single video card that could do 4k at 60. The only way to pull it off was two 980s and even then it was limited...

Are the AMD drivers really that bad?

I bought an AMD card just this month. Not a single issue. My first AMD card ever. People need to pay attention to timing of news like this. Will people have issues? Of course but I really don't pay attention to much of it because I've had problems with all sorts of hardware at times where I...

Radeon RX 5600 XT Launch Review Round Up

AMD does fuck things up but this isn't anything that Nvidia hasn't done. How would it have been perfect? Oh your mad because the card performs better. Ah I get it unless every launch AMD loses you're not happy.

Radeon RX 5600 XT Launch Review Round Up

You said I went in circles. I merely started fact. You asked for a link that backed up my statement. I provided that as well. At this point you've got some grudge.

Radeon RX 5600 XT Launch Review Round Up

I'm not going in circles you just basically threw insults when the reality became apparent. How do you know what memory they sold them? You also apparently have a personal problem with AMD. Neither of which I can fix.

Radeon RX 5600 XT Launch Review Round Up

You missed the part where they said they don't buy their own memory. They don't buy it for the other cards either. What you think AMD isn't going to validate it either? Really?

Radeon RX 5600 XT Launch Review Round Up

"Interestingly, MSI had no problem sending 14 Gbps BIOSes to reviewers who already received GAMING X models. They were told to flash GAMING Z bios onto their X’s and rename their products in reviews. So yes, from the reviewers’ perspective, the explanation in the video is a bit embarrassing to...

Radeon RX 5600 XT Launch Review Round Up

Because literally msi and Asus said exactly that. They said they don't pick the memory or validate it.
  12. K

Radeon RX 5600 XT Launch Review Round Up

Sorry but it doesn't make any sense. If you can't validate memory at a lower speed when you supposedly don't pick the memory, you can't all of a sudden validate it at the higher spec when you don't validate the memory.

Radeon RX 5600 XT Launch Review Round Up

But that's why we look at reviews is it not? Since I've been alive ALL video cards have differed in either build quality or performance when compared to reference. How is this situation any different?

Radeon RX 5600 XT Launch Review Round Up

Whenever reviewers start jumping out the window over something as simple as this you know it's shady. All of a sudden looking at the box for specs becomes impossible. All of a sudden they get amnesia because no one else releases video cards that differ from official specs and they certaintly...

Radeon RX 5600 XT Launch Review Round Up

I agree when Nvidia says they are fixing issues with a variety of games are they lying? You would think so going by some of the comments. Probably one of the biggest problems I've ever had when it came to supporting laptops was if they have Nvidia "Quadro" cards in them. The drivers would crash...

AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT Review

"The Radeon RX 5600 XT is a respectable product that has pushed for lower prices and better performance at $300. For that alone, we commend it. The GPU won’t blow your socks off and yet it's better value than the Radeon RX 5700 and makes the RTX 2060 Super a really tough buy. Given the...

Intel Plans To Battle AMD Ryzen 4000 In 2020 With Mass of Hyper-Threaded Processors Including 5.3GHz

Intel Plans To Battle AMD Ryzen 4000 In 2020 With Mass of Hyper-Threaded Processors Including 5.3GHz

I think this is worse than Intel just taking the "L". Intel will respond correctly when it can, but to take the bulldozer route is nuts. It causes more damage to the brand name than it otherwise would. Intel will have a response in under a year. It's not that long of a wait.

Yeah if you have only 1 creator. That's really rare. You're going to have more than 1. You also have QoS you have to maintain. Your typical high resolution image is many gigs. Typically creators sync back to the network at the end of the day. But until that time comes that data is local...

Intel Plans To Battle AMD Ryzen 4000 In 2020 With Mass of Hyper-Threaded Processors Including 5.3GHz

Think low cost content creation machine. Something like Photoshop. You'll want a scratch disk. Most people will stick two ssds together in raid 1 for that alone. You've got your OS drive which could be a ssd as well. Then your local storage for assets that aren't complete. You're not going to...

Intel Plans To Battle AMD Ryzen 4000 In 2020 With Mass of Hyper-Threaded Processors Including 5.3GHz

You forget the workstation market especially for content creators. With such high core counts the desktop platform can be easily used for that duty as well. I can see that happening quite easily just to save money.

Intel Plans To Battle AMD Ryzen 4000 In 2020 With Mass of Hyper-Threaded Processors Including 5.3GHz

Huh. It is very very easy to saturate a pcie 3.0 8x slot. One HBA can do that. They only come in 8x form factors so if you want more bandwidth the only way to do it is to move to pcie4 or add in another card which isn't always an option. I get it you like Intel but saying stuff like pcie 3.0...

AMD introduces Radeon RX 5600 XT for 279 USD

"The AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT features a Navi10 graphics processor with 2304 unified cores. This model is equipped with 6GB GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit interface. The clocks are somewhat reduced compared to RX 5700 non-XT with a game clock around 1375 MHz and 1560 MHz in boost mode. We have been...

Intel Plans To Battle AMD Ryzen 4000 In 2020 With Mass of Hyper-Threaded Processors Including 5.3GHz

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3980X 48 Core, 96 Thread CPU Reportedly Spotted in CPU-Z Support List

AMD seems to have not one but two 3rd Gen Ryzen Threadripper CPUs heading out next year if the latest reports are accurate. We already know about the 64 core Ryzen Threadripper 3990X that is going to demolish Intel's HEDT for many years to come but there seems to be a 48 core SKU too which has...

Zen 3 is rumored to be flaunting monumental IPC gains in early testing

Move to another fab. Move to another fab. It hasn't delivered long term. Everything fab-wise is off. They are capacity strained when with AMD coming along they should have some breathing room. But they don't. It really looks like they offered to fab for others without making sure they have...

Benchmark Results so close - why the big price difference?

Those benches aren't controlled at all. All sorts of things can contribute to the score. In a controlled environment to the difference between Zen and Zen2+ is around 20% across the board. For CPUs that's damn good.

    Zen,Zen+,Zen2 comparison @ same clocks?

To be honest it's not really necessary. Every generation brought IPC increases. With Zen 2+ there's a massive difference through the whole stack of about a 15% uplift at the same clock.

YAIC: Yet another Intel convert. Building my first AMD system

Which isn't a bad trade off. You'll have to generations worth of CPU to tide you over. Plus AMD is back porting the manufacturing node to the older models anyway. So there should be more overclocking headroom.

YAIC: Yet another Intel convert. Building my first AMD system

Not bad at all. Looks like you're trying to keep the price down. If not I'd go for the 3700x for the gaming improvements it offers. But if you can wait there's no real problem with the build.

Windows recognises the fx 8120 as officially a 4 core now. Interesting

This is true. I ran tests on the Linux kernel. In Linux it was comparable to Sandy bridge and in many tests it would beat it if you considered cache sizes during complication. The main problem that chip had was its cache was tiny and slow. Many things such as games are very cache sensitive and...
