Hmm, yeah just to make the feet bigger, I see what you're saying. I'll keep it in mind, but as I use it more it is becoming a lower priority. The sway really isn't that bad, especially once you get used to using it in a way to minimize the movement (which isn't a big change). Eventually I do...

It's carpet and could very well be contributing. That crossed my mind but I don't want to stub my toe on a 3/4" thick board under the feet. I suppose I could doctor it up with rounded corners but I think I'd rather try my caster / wall plate idea first.

Sure, hope it helps. I have always had a bad back, and ever since I started working from home a few years ago, work and play in the same room with bad posture all the time has really worsened it a lot. Having the ability to go from sitting to standing whenever I feel like it multiple times a...

That sounds awesome - cedar is a beautiful wood. I figured I'd share some of my research on standing desk legs, in case you or anyone else could benefit from it. I found basically 3 sources to base my decision on. The Wirecutter's roundup, Reviews.com's roundup, and Beyond the Office Door's...

Thanks! Well... it wobbles. Sitting height is rock solid. Standing, not so much. If you rock it, it wobbles a lot, but even if you're just nodding your head to some music with your hands on the desk top, it still moves a little bit. It's never really scary like it's going to fall over or...

^so I figure I can screw things into the bottom without worrying about it; nobody will ever see that. If I had a joint on the end grain somewhere or needed to fasten something to the top, I would probably look into those. Desk as it is now: Stupid rubber feet on the adjustable "desk" stained...

Looks neat. Are you suggesting for the shelf legs? Edit: looking at it more, maybe you mean between the left, center, and right sections of the desk? If that's the case, I actually want them separate because the center section is going to be height adjustable shortly.

Got all 3 coats on the top done today. 2nd coat, looked awesome except for a couple drips I had to sand down. If it wasn't for those, I probably would have left it. There's some awesome figure in these boards. The knots made some curls in the wood and it's just gorgeous. I originally stayed...

nap time update: bye bye sharp edges hello curves. This edge has my fixed router gouge from yesterday - can you find it? :) a little free-hand sanding to blend the routed corners and get rid of some burn marks (stupid cord got hung up on something and stopped my movement, burned a bit...

So much progress today! Got it all sanded down. I think I overestimated my time yesterday, I think it was only an hour and a half. I think it was about another hour and a half today, so call it 3 hours front and back with 80 grit on the belt sander. I'm really happy with the decision to cut...

    A Picture I Took 2017

Just got back from a 4 day kayak trip in the Apostle Islands, Lake Superior. I hemmed and hawed about bringing my camera and a few lenses but ultimately chickened out and just brought my Sony RX100m3. It was way easier to cart around. If you recall from an old thread of mine, I replaced the...

Made a bit of progress tonight. Very rough cut the general shape. It's still almost as big, but seems a bit more manageable now. Sanded off most of the glue with my random orbital, then sicced the belt sander with some 80grit on it for 2 hours. Made it about 2/3 of the way through the top...

Got the panel all glued up and one of my UpLift desk legs assembled. This panel is obnoxiously large in my office... Man things are slow on this when there's work, vacation, and 2 kids involved... I hope to make some more progress this weekend, but the wife is out so it'll have to be after...

2nd and 3rd glue-ups done. #2 #3 These were a pain to get right because I couldn't clamp the biscuit joints closed due to trying to use every last square inch of scrap I had. I could work them closed and flush by hand, but when I'd clamp the panel together it would open up again. Not...

Ok, finally had the time and tools to get this done right. It was so long since I ripped my panels down into boards again that they needed to be straight-lined for a glue-up again. So, I used my new (to me) table saw and got that done. Cut pieces to length too. Ripping them down to get...

Tesla Owner too Stupid to Buy New Tires

When the going got rough, he improvised to protect his family - they pulled off and got a hotel room until the weather got better. Not everyone thinks about everything involved with a car - they just don't. It's probably one of the reasons he was interested in a Tesla in the first place...

Tesla Owner too Stupid to Buy New Tires

Holy crap guys. How many of you watched the whole video? Other than, yes, he should have been rotating the tires, he has good reasons for wanting to sell the Tesla. Also understand, not everyone is a motorhead. Basic maintenance, blah, blah blah - the fact of the matter is, I'd be willing to...

Breath of the Wild Gameplay (2017) Nintendo Switch

So it's just you playing the game? I wouldn't watch it, it's really boring. It needs something you add that makes it worth watching. For ideas, I can come up with: 1. show some expertise while playing - speed run, new strats, better style, tips, tricks, etc 2. add commentary - no better way...

Decent Chair Recommendations? (preferably in white)

Look around on Craigslist et al. I found my Steelcase Leap for $100 from a business that was closing its doors. You can't be picky about color for these chairs at those prices though - luckily the one I found was black (there were actually about 50 of them that flooded the market). Herman...

    Zelda: Breath of the Wild

So... it's not exactly what you're looking for. But you might like it. I don't want to say too much. I agree, some bigger dungeons or underground cave areas would have been cool. Also an idea - ancient high-tech ruins that still half worked would have been a really cool addition.

Mr. Stamsek - excellent shots. I'm not a portrait shooter nor a pro so my humble opinions here... I really like the atmosphere and the "grit," and the images kind of tell his story a bit too. And fun. Well done. A couple questions - the lighting on the first one seems odd to me. I like the...

Well yeah you're in a big rolling Meadow. I never really felt that way, actually quite the opposite. I was pretty impressed that you could explore with intent and no matter where you chose to go, you were rewarded with something interesting.
