I have 2 of the SFF versions of the EliteDesk 800 G4 (both have the i5-8500 and 32GB of ram) I use one in my bedroom for general internet and YouTube (cat videos LoL) usage and the other is a Hackintosh.
The newer SLA batteries suck hell even car batteries suck now so both sealed and flooded lead acid batteries are affected by the cost cutting measures these days
Just a quick observation the SATA 3.3 cable looks to have 4 wires where-as the standard SATA cables look to have 5 wires so my guess is the SATA 3.3 does NOT pass the 3.3V as there is not enough wires for that.
Yep they really were! I was a high school senior (17) when Windows XP was first released in 2002!
Life mostly sucks now espically after losing both of my parents a year apart from one another :( (2017 Mom and 2018 Dad) :(
I know it is Windows NT but I'm nostalgic about the blue pre-installation screen from all of the times I had to install and reinstall Windows XP as it had basically the same screen!
I thought the platters were glass in modern (as in made in the past 20 years or so) hard drives and glass can't rust so spinning rust is a misnomer LoL!
I wish I could get storage that fast in this old lappy (Dell Precision M4800) it is SATA (SATA III or 6Gbps) only but I wonder does a MPCIe to M.2 adapter exist I know I probably won't be able to boot from it though so that mostly defeats the point of having a fast drive.
Thank You my Team "EX2" is DRAM-Less as well as being just a standard 2.5" SATA III SSD so this explains the lackluster performance
I should have sprung for the Samsung EVO SSD first I will in the future and this will become a storage drive
I learned my lesson research parts before I buy them...
Real life usage
Windows 10 loads in under a minute so that is pretty fast but still seems slow for doing things like changing files or seeking through long and/or large video files with ZoomPlayer
I do have some Crystal Disk Mark benchmarks and the numbers don't seem to be that bad but for...
I fixed that
The system is my oldie but goodie Dell Precision M4800
so SATA only unless a MiniPCIe to M.2 exists that can be bootable as well?
I was given basically a base model M4800 I upped it to a 15.6 FHD Vs the OEM 720P one which was a ROYAL PITA as I Also had to swap the LVDS video...
I bought a cheap Team 1TB SSD and to put in perspective this appears as a tad bit faster then a 7.2K RPM 2.5" Spinner so needless to say I want to replace it.
Since it is so slow I'd assume this is DRAM-Less?
I want to know if this Samsung 870 EVO or This Samsung 870 QVO
drive has a DRAM...
I don't get this either! modern stuff is basically impossible to fix without very expensive (EX: That not everyone has access to) as well as the skills to use said tools. I will most certainly not be bidding on this LoL!
The HP EliteDesk 800 G4 will also work with the Intel i7-8700 I know this because I have one of these with the i5-8500 hence post #5 LoL want to trade for an i5? LoL
This is 100% true I wish I still had that Tandy 1000 that I was given for my 12th birthday in 1996!
It was the better version also as it had the 2 black 5.25" floppy drives!
How to I stop full screen browser videos from changing screen brightness (Dell Precision M4800)?
This is driving me nuts I can full screen a video and the screen gets brighter and when I go back to the normal view it gets dimmer again with a slight delay on both counts. How can I stop it from...
I guess I was lucky then! I swapped the i3-3220 for a Xeon E3-1225V2 in my HP Elite 8300 and it booted up (after complaining about the new CPU and ram) and even had the right CPU listed in the UEFI screen!
PS: While do manufactures still call it BIOS as I believe BIOS is dead and it is UEFI...
