I'm not clear whether this is a "new" hack or a continuation of the previous one.
At any rate it doesn't seem to have hampered GSC's progress in any major way. I'm sure every good Stalker will be patient and resist the temptation...
I thought the 5800x3d proved more cache is more broadly beneficial over more games than the extra clock you're foregoing (e.g. compared to the 5800x)?
Techspot comparison
I think as long as the clock speed penalty isn't too great (and it doesn't seem to be) the bigger issue is probably the...
I wouldn't "assume" it, but if you know anything about the STALKER fanbase, you'd realize it's a pretty safe bet. Just check out STALCRAFT or the reams of original trilogy mods to see who is developing and playing them.
But to be charitable, the toxic entitlement of some "fans" on the internet...
Yep. Those grey overcast skies with that low angle autumn/winter light are peak STALKER ambience to me.
Don't mind if the weather changes (actually I'm looking forward to dynamic weather) but it won't feel like the Zone without some bleakness.
I mean, their largest market is predominantly english speaking, so english voiceovers in a trailer make sense from a marketing perspective. I'm sure there will be ample localization options to satisfy purists.
Agree with you about the overall look. The cinematography looks more "blockbuster...
It seems like the definition of hype is that it's impossible to live up to... hopefully they'll prove me wrong, though.
Just imagine if the gameplay and story actually lives up to the visuals...
That dev diary was tough to watch...
Also, this probably makes me a punk, but I saw the lead A-life developer suited up and my first thought was how screwed the game is if he buys it.
You realize the anglicized (or in this case "Russolized" I guess) spellings of place names are reclaimed by their original owners all the time, right?
See Bombay ==> Mumbai. Hell, in my own province the local indigenous tribe used to be called Micmac by the European settlers, and decades ago...
Heard on the news last night some idiot decided it would be a good idea to shell the country's largest nuclear plant.
Here's hoping everyone at GSC (and Ukrainians in general) manage to get through this safely and are spared another exclusion Zone being created...
I agree. My only worry is that if the whole NFT fiasco was really an attempt to raise funds for development, we may get the Cyberpunk scenario if they are forced to release unfinished just to stave off financial ruin.
Figures. Basically no media less than 4 months to release is pretty telling.
I would say this is "not a good sign" considering the original release date for this game was supposed to be in 2021.
But then, it seems like every single major/AAA title gets delayed multiple times these days and...
Yeah, I knew nothing about this and then saw a post with 1K comments over there... Yikes.
Grygorovych is kind of a known money-grubbing scumbag so I'm not really surprised.
From the sound of things this is really only endangering GSC's reputation and the pockets of whatever chumps bid on the...
Nowadays the generic "fetch item X from Y and return to Z" or "go to A and kill B" quests ought to be procedurally generated.
I'll be optimistic and hope actual people are being used to write custom side quests with non-generic goals to accomplish.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 New details and screenchots
The December issue of PC Gamer magazine features STALKER 2 on the cover, but hunting around in advance of that, I found some new info on aroged.com.
Several new screenshots and confirmation of a new creature ("psy-deer") and free deathmatch +...
I think we already learned this lesson with movies. The technology doesn't substitute for an engaging experience, no matter how advanced it gets.
We continuously see smaller devs come up with a particular idea (battle royale I guess being the latest?) which then gets picked up and run with by...
Cheers! A few tidbits there I hadn't heard already.
One thing I hope they steal from the countless mods (at least as an option) is the PDA messages of Zone news.
Getting those updates on who killed who where really brings the whole dynamic A-Life system to life.
I figured it would be UE5 since the devs refused to confirm which version of UE they were using when asked previously... I mean, everything uses UE4 right?
As far as video quality, I'm going to go ahead and doubt anything looks as good as the UE5 demos for some time.
I am more concerned about...
You never know, by this time next year shortages may have eased and Intel might be in the mid-range GPU game to add competition.
Or crypto could be on another boom, I guess...
I don't necessarily disagree with alot of these points, but in the end, I think this franchise might actually be immune to them. STALKER is it's own thing, with a very particular "set of skills".
The fact that dudes are still modding and playing games from a decade ago shows it's more than...
Was pleasantly surprised by this today. It was only in my YT subs for 18min and already 30K views... lot of people anxious to get back to the Zone apparently.
Visuals look on point. Fingers crossed we get the next-gen A-Life and RPG elements we've been waiting all this time for as well...
Oh, you can definitely count on the modding community to cure any consolitis-related issues with the PC version.
Just glad to hear we won't have to wait "When it's done" + 3 months like those other chumps...
Yeah I can't imagine the Unreal Engine even with the AMD penalty being worse optimized than the X-Ray engine.
I just hope the A-Life system (optimized for multi-core) will make a triumphant return. A bunch of stalkers running around the world with you doing their own quests was one thing the...
I've seen mods fix a heck of a lot. I doubt I would go so far as to save hack though, if that's actually required I may draw the line.
I also heard something about an expansion or something, maybe dropping this year. I wonder if that might end up providing "official" fixes for some of these issues?
I guess this served the desired effect, since I want to see more, but why are they being such prickteases with the game?
It's supposedly been in development almost 3 years and scheduled for 2021 release. Show us the goods already.
Good looking out. After reading that changelog I probably won't even bother with the vanilla game, just play it modded.
Just waiting for this to get out of Epic jail now...
Upgrading is only worth it if the upgrade allows you to do something your current setup doesn't, for an amount of money you feel is worth it.
Having a 3900x already and PCIe 4 not yet being "required" (hell, by the time it's required, PCIe 5 will probably be out), you'll probably be better...
Not sure if this trailer being in-engine using actual models but not "actual gameplay" is a good sign for a title that was scheduled to release in 2021 when they announced it three years back.
It does have the right vibe though. Given everything that's going on right now, I'm just glad this...
I'm curious where the practical distinction between "artificial" and "natural" consciousness lies. I mean there are theories out there that early hominids experimenting with psychodelics might have been the trigger that spurred consciousness ... but would that be natural or medically induced...
AFAIK, Valve doesn't require a developer only sell their game their platform. If they choose to, that's up to them. EPIC has a different business model, and only they know how successful that is.
I'm not GSC and it's up to them to make the choice that's in their best financial interest. I'm...
I'm 99% positive the guy who holds the rights and was essentially responsible for the initial sequel being canned and most of the original team leaving will have zero problem bending the knee to Epic.
Steam, Uplay, EGS, shouldn't matter, but I will freely admit I hate the anti-consumer bs and...
I thought I was the only one still rocking a TV from that era. Those LG OLEDs were tempting but I can't justify upgrading quiet yet.
Micro LED seems like the solution to everything, but I fear the price that's going to come at.
