73F was max in New South Wales on 10/20 when it happened so it wasn't hot plus it was in a white vehicle. Data center cooling temperature is set for the low 70s for comparison. There won't be media hysteria though since it's Apple.
iMessage and continuity reinvented a small subset of what Google Voice (now Hangouts) did in 2009 so it's not a 1-stop solution and 2014 is not something Apple had for a while. It lacks the following compared to Hangouts:
- no free unlimited calls and SMS to North America without mobile plan
-...
Impressive considering it's relatively low cost, compact and they 3D printed the housing. Drilling the center cubes is to give it traction otherwise the stickers would rip off. Guess they could use an open socket instead that grips the corners of center pieces if modication is an issue to...
I know when I buy a laptop I make sure it boots into windows, check device manager to confirm specs and verify that I can get into BIOS without password. Returning a laptop should be similar so if they can't log in and have to reimage it then I can understand it taking longer especially around...
It's not rocket science. Google Messenger is a carrier SMS app replacement whereas Hangouts is for merging Hangouts, Google Voice 10-digit calling + SMS + voicemail + transcription and carrier SMS. Was using Hangouts for everything but have since dropped carrier SMS since it's redundant and...
Running bleeding edge OS is the next stupid fad after metal phone. Ironic how those demanding bleeding edge mobile OS are still running Windows 7 instead of 10 insider build, Linux stable instead of unstable, Cisco IOS GD instead of ED, etc.
Windows 10/8.1 is good for a desktop OS with the largest selection of professional software and gaming.
Linux is best as server OS and second best as desktop OS.
OS X is a niche like Windows Phone OS with the slimmest software selection.
Hold on to your seats with earnings release tomorrow 1/26/2016. All recent products from Apple Watch to iPod Pro, 12" Macbook, Apple TV, etc. have been duds and the head of Apple Car just jumped ship. Apple has been riding on one product, iPhone, but that's starting to fizzle too.
Continuum is useless for most people since it requires Apple hardware lock-in whereas Hangouts/Google Voice is cross platform.
Randomly assigned Google Voice # is free and it does work internationally. I ended up paying $10 for a custom GV # since it's easier for people to remember and another...
Any device that does call forwarding is susceptible. You can limit your exposure to MITM by using encrypted communication for multifactor. I use Hangouts for both calls and SMS so they're both protected by encryption.
If Obama is really serving America's true interest he would be supporting Made in South Korea since they're pro-America vs Made in China that's hostile.
Correct. iPhone released in 2007 evolved from Windows Mobile devices. I had a Dell Axim X5 around 2002 with Sprint compact flash CDMA card that I used as a phablet for calls, browsing, streaming video, VPN, remote telnet, etc. It pretty did what today's devices do.
To be fair there are things Android take for granted such as stability and the reason why it has an uptime counter like unix vs iOS that can't get petty things like battery meter, alarm, etc. working correctly requiring constant updates to attempt to fix. So, frequent updates isn't...
It's not clear who is to blame, Google or the manufacturer, but when I bought the Nexus 10 it was a degraded experience from the original Galaxy Note 10.1. For example, they both had front facing stereo speakers but the Nexus 10 sounded hollow and introduced vibration similar to iPad Air 2. It...
I take the short and direct approach. When recently approached with a Craigslist scam I replied with "sure call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx" which is the local FBI office number then when they're dumb enough to continue I forward the email thread to abuse@outlook.com, etc. to get the accounts shut down.
Who grants these BS patents? Auto correct evolved from spell check which has been in text based word processors for decades. The best thing that can happen for mankind is the sickos in Cupertino get STD and join Jobs. Until then the fail safe mechanism kicks in which is my wallet.
Ideally when you look at an Android app permission before installing you should be able to select each permission required and expand to see the developer's explanation for requiring it so there's no second guessing and knee jerk reaction. Benefit is developer only has to fill it out once...
Latest stable 12.1 snapshot and fairly recent nightlies.

I wonder how much of it is Intel driver's fault? Seems like Intel has always been an issue Surface Pro's success with late arrival of Broadwell causing throttling on Surface Pro 3 and now driver issues plaguing Surface Pro 4.
Works solid here on a 2008 Thinkpad X200 and on an Opteron 6300 workstation it detected all the hardware and automatically installed all the drivers so I didn't have to do it manually. On a touch capable device the UI is a huge improvement over 8.1.
I like the price point but the performance seems to be below my threshold of Core M which a quad ARM A57 competes with very favorably while the AMD A1100 solution is even better with octa core A57. Prefer a more beefy device that serves as all-in-one workstation, file, web and media server and...
