Well I kept the Omen. Lg Emmy back today.
Why vs lg 29uc88?
Lg better at fps gaming and color.
Omen more uses. Could be a tv. More real estate for work.
Been playing with using as a uw as well.
I am able to do it but you lose freesync.
CRU you set a custom resolution of 2560 by 1080 60...
Good feedback and discussion everybody.
The Omen has issues and is great despite them.
Getting the 29uc 1st (uw) and the (high res) Omen 2nd has made me understand a lot.
Despite the smaller size the 29 is definitely more immersive and that I think is a function of height.
It is more...
I still think the Omen is awesome because IMHO their is no better deal for a big screen right now that is a real monitor.
The picture even with the shift destroys my old Dell and my laptop by 10X.
I wish I did not see it and I still dont know if color shift is a deal breaker because see above...
Their are many.
Now I want to hold back as the Omen is a good display no doubt but however stunned that the LG's seem better in some ways. Omen in others.
Take a look at this pic.

Make it your wallpaper...
Thanks for the settings. I have not looked in ages and have now found they removed them and their are huge threads on AMD's forums about that UG.
You are right about hp having a lousy installer. Who tests these things?
if you want to count anybody surprised it was me on why the LG looks much...
In a weird way I am kinda looking for help.
I have the 29uc88 and the Omen and am having a hard time between the two.
29uc88
Tilt stand with height
Better contrast and colors (This kinda SHOCKS me)
Freesync is a setting you enable and not a mode you have to enter IE it is available in all...
I have and am going to return either an HP Omen or an LG 29uc88.
The issue you are having and it has been bugging me out as well is VA color shift and it is a problem with VA panels.
What it is the intensity of color will change a you move your head left to tight.
It seems kinda weird once...
Good point. I read an article and they had a review here about SanDisk readycache which I bought for an old system I have. Works great and cheap. Will cache multiple drives and arrays but wait for it ... only comes in 32gb cache size.
If they had 256gb cache size enterprises would buy those for...
Bigdogchris - That was what I was originally thinking and likely will be my plan.
Dragon - Thanks as I did not want to go through all the trouble and find I couldnt do it because man that is a lot of reimaging.
I still wonder why the limitation as I think real world it would do little but it...
I know you can do SRT with your boot drive if you install OS to another drive, enable SRT on ssd, disconnect HD, install OS to SSD, reconnect HD and than install SRT driver.
I know this is a PITA.
I also know you need the SSD to be in RAID mode for SRT to work.
Is their a limitation I am...
Thanks for the responses guys.
This is what I want to do.
Raid my 830's for but set aside 18.6 GB of the raid array to cache my conventional HD raid array.
A couple of reason why.
1) Faster
2) Do not have to manage two SSD's (i hate deciding and moving apps due to limited SSD space on one...
I have not been able to find this anywhere in the forums or on the web and doubt anybody tried my crazy idea but here you go.
I have two 120GB Samsung 830 SSD's and want to try the following:
Raid 0 the samsungs. Do the trick install of Windows to a regular drive and enable 18.6 gb srt on...
Here is what I did.
Put the 2231xi in clone mode and put it against my old 2407wfb and a playstation 3d display.
Went here and tested:
http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/
2231xi won in a landslide.
I find glossy a dual edge sword.
For sure contrast is better. I have a plasma with a glossy screen. Looks great.
Now I am testing a glossy display for my PC looks great except for the fact I can see myself at times when using it and that drives me nuts.
I don't see myself on my TV...
I bought it when it was onsale at BB.
I think it is great but it depends on what your goals are.
If you are only gaming glossy can be better.
However one thing that always drives me nuts on glossy is the fact that I can see myself on dark screens.
Now if you do photo editing or regular PC work...
I have an xp-120 laying around and was wondering if it is compatible with the Abit AB9 Pro? Just wondering before I buy the LGA 775 adapter for it. Thanks in advance!
Thanks I have raid 0 two drive so it looks like do not expect basic Windows running to have anything too noticeable but expect encoding times etc to get MUCH better. Good enough for me :-)
Doing this upgrade for free. I do some gaming but I have a 24 inch so the res I play it I think I smack my 8800gts limit. I do a lot of video encoding and manipulations of large files. I am also a bit bored with my Opty setup. Have had that tweaked for a year+ and very little tweaking left to...
I am thinking of trying an e4500 and wondering how much faster it would be than my current Opteron setup and where I may see the most improvement besides gaming.
I have a Dell 2407 and like it. I cannot "feel" the lag and the color is awesome. The monitor gives graphics a little extra punch due to it's fidelity.
I have an infamous 2407 and love it. Scaling in games does not look bad. I usually preffer to turn down details. The higher res shows more detail and is worth a little less eye candy
Despite the issues with the 2407 it is a nice monitor. I had a debate between this & the 22" Westy and selected this one solely on picture quality. This is from a gamer/ multimedia user. I am not an photoshop user and could care less about the banding issues as I do not see it in what I use the...
I today just made choice between the infamous Dell 2407 & the Westy. I ended up choosing the Dell because the picture & viewing angles are better. The Westy did have a few advantages:
Lighter by far.
Not a heat generator like the dell.
If you sole purpose is for gaming and one person...
