Lenovo Tinys are pretty cool and well built. They're not for gamers, professional and corporate entities but perfectly fine mom and pop and anyone else.
Hmmm, maybe I don't want to install snap. I'm trying to find a replacement for the shitty text editor that comes Mint. I like the looks of Notepad ++ and it installs via snap.
Is there another good text editor for Linux?
TIA
And thanks guys for the link. Now I know what's going on.
All the instructions I've found via Google are garbage, they don't work? :dead:
sparkey@sparkey-X9SRH-7F-7TF:~$ sudo apt install snapd

Patriot SSD's are garbage. I just returned a 2TB to Amazon. For starters, it was light as a feather, felt empty. Any file operation had maddening periodic hesitations and the drive was about half as fast as any other SSD I've ever owned.
Had a bad experience with Toshiba warranty service years ago. Took me over a year and constantly nagging them to finally get my replacement drive. Never again, Toshiba can KMA.
Just put together an OPNsense box using a Dell 5070 Extended and a dual port i350 server NIC, 8GB ram, Intel Pentium Silver J5005 and a 120GB M.2 SSD. I also improvised a ghetto cooling solution using a piece of think plywood and a squirrel cage fan. Works surprisingly well.
Yea, I thought it was strange too. Caught me completely by surprise. DNS settings should never be conditional and should never be overridden under any circumstances as far as I'm concerned.
I also used it for years but right in the middle of all this crap I discovered that it was using my isp's DNS servers instead of Cloudflare which it was set too. I never bothered to figure out why, just decided it was totally unacceptable and moved back to OPNsense.
I have a 6TB HD with a busted connector. If (I know it's a big if) I can find the same board can I just replace it and the will it work properly? Data on the drive is of no concern.
TIA
After clicking through multiple screens I get to the one that has the toggle to turn it off, After a reboot it's back on. No doubt this is done on purpose. MS undoubtedly has selfish reasons for wanting it's users to keep it turned on. It's probably the source of an enormous amount of...
Mission accomplished. Didn't have to deal with activation at all. Now I need to figure out how to permanently turn off firewall notifications, I turn them off and they turn back on after a reboot.
Bought a Lenovo M600 Tiny from eBay and it came with Windows 10 pro loaded on a 500GB spinner. I want to transfer by doing a fresh install to a SDD and have a couple of questions.
1. How do I tell if the license is embedded in the BIOS and if it is can I just do a fresh install and not have to...
You're probably right. I managed to find a website that explained how to get port forwarding working in OPNsense so for now I'm good. I'm keeping my old pfsense box in reserve in case I need it.
I decided to dump pfSense because of this issue and I'm now back to using OPNsense. I'll figure out the port forward issue. I no longer trust pfSense. It's just plain stupid that it would use a DNS server other than the ones I entered. Don't really care what the explanation might be. As an extra...
Yea, I found that. The default is use local but fallback to remote. I set it to use local only. I kept monkeying with it. There were loads of other setting like DNSBL which I enabled, I disabled it and a few other things but I suspect it was the culprit. In my mind it's kinda stupid for pfSense...
I go to DNS Server Settings in pfSense and set the DNS Servers to Cloudflare. I then go to https://www.top10vpn.com/tools/what-is-my-dns-server/ at it shows my DNS Server as my isp.
Can someone please explain this stupidness? How the can can you set the DNS servers and then pfSense overrides...
I am using pfblocker. For the most part it works, I block China but do occasionally one or two slip through. My main reason for wanting pihole is to block ads.
This was a fresh install so no firewall rules other than those auto created. I'm back to pfSense now and all is well. Had no problem getting port forwarding configured and working as it should. I like OPNsense GUI better than pfSense but it has to work first and foremost, if it doesn't it's...
I have no idea why I couldn't get it to work. It was a frustrating ordeal. The worst kind of problems are those that just don't work. No error messages or hints of any kind, they just don't work.
Yesterday the M.2 SATA SSD arrived and I was able to get pfSense installed and booting without...
I'm running Blue Iris and need to remote into it to access my ip cams. PfSense was no problem at all and at this point I'm trying to solve the problem of it not working on a Dell Wyse 5070. OPNsense is not for me. I tried to sign up at their forums but never received the activation link.
Can't get it to work. :(
I can find instructions via Googled but they all appear to apply to other versions, not the version I have (the latest). I'm seeing settings that are not in my version. I've tried everything I can and still can't get it to work. Previously I was using PfSense and had no...
