I have a weird use case where I am doing heavy desktop work at clients as a consultant. Currently have a P71 I bought when they came out that has a few issues (warranty is over).
Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
I realistically expect the improvements to be almost identically in line as those seen with Intel chips from Sandy -> Ivy -> Haswell ->etc
2-3% when measured clock-for-clock. Power will drop, just as it did with the intels, when die shrinking. Enthusiasts don't really care about power.
If it is a true 45 it should be fine, but for example our family room tv is more like 60-70 degrees viewing from our kitchen table (not its intended purpose) and it's a strain to watch.
Sitting at a 30-45 degree I once again prefer the 8000 over the 6 and 7s I believe because it is brighter, or...
I currently own in different rooms in my house Samsung 6000 7000 and 8000s
The color of the 8000 is better in all ways and the OS loads and runs faster. Quality control is also better.
I spent about a month researching this in January before buying yet another Samsung and wound up with the 55"...
They do not weigh the same. The Camaro has higher advertised power. All this is addressed in the link up there and the motortrend head to head video.
They have nearly identical power to weight ratio is based on advertised numbers. 8.1 is 97.5% of 8.3:1. They have splitting hairs identical...
Trap speed and 1/4 mile performance are almost identical despite the camaro weighing 200 lbs more.
They have almost identical stated power to weight ratios. Neither looks more bullshit...
The SS 1LE is manual transmission only. Not a true comparison to the 8 speed auto car.
The Supra is 3300 lbs. The Camaro is 3700 lbs.
We will have to wait for trap speed...
Exaggeration is cool and all but 2jz getrag Supras cannot reliably make 1280 crank horsepower on the stock drivetrain. Dyno pulls and roll racing are great but the only 2jz powered cars to finish Drag Week (drive site to site with no support crew) have GM TH400 transmissions and Ford 9" IRS rear...
I do this all the time for clients.
A 12 bay Dell R510 with a xeon, ~16gb of ram, a Dell PERC H700 raid card (supported almost universally), redundant power supplies, and 12 trays is about $500 on ebay with a 90 day warranty.
I then buy 12 drives, setup the raid, setup the OS and go.
I have been running many, many 1080tis in a mining farm for the past year. Almost all of them are Founder's cards. I run 60-100% power limit. No undervolting but also no overvolting or overclocking.
I have not had a single card failure or issue. My racks are enclosed with excellent, direct to...
I've been saying this for a while.
Computers represent 3-4% of their gross revenue based on the shareholder report my brother and I read over on Thanksgiving break.
I would expect that the basic college student 13" MacBook is a Lion's share of that.
The hardware and ongoing macos development...
The camera really doesn't seem that bad to me, or maybe my bar is just very low.
The screen is worse than say a Galaxy S6 or even a Galaxy S4, both of which I have on hand for comparison. The camera is not worse than either of those.
I do hope this phone sets a precedent for 120hz, and the...
I don't know to what degree he is "sponsored" by review item providers, because I don't see how you could go without mentioning the dim and reflective display
I'll say again that max brightness on the Razer is.comparable to 50-60% on the $140 Galaxy Alpha
I am posting from the device now.
Here are my thoughts after a few hours:
The speakers are amazing. I could see the phone replacing a Bluetooth speaker in most situations which is another thing smartphones could potentially replace like cameras, maps, etc.
Any system noise is very loud and...
I figured this was coming, but I also figured that I (and others) need to weigh the potentiality of paying taxes and using a US exchange, against the relative obscurity/lack of confidence that comes with Chinese exchanges.
I am going to order one when available. Everything looks pretty good to me assuming the screen doesn't have a stupid blue tint like the Pixel 2 XL.
$699 is much more in-line with what I am willing to pay... $950 or a $1000 is a lot to swallow. A price that high basically necessitates insurance...
So you'd rather have two extremely douchey status symbol cars of vastly lower performance, from the same status-conscious vein as the iphone, while regurgitating internet nonsense about the z06. Way to be. The current m5 tied the rental car Mustang GT around VIR in Car & Driver's Lightning Lap...
This is a great article guys. Threadripper just seems like a much more exciting product to me than x299...hard to sum up exactly why but Dan did a good job.
Threadripper reminds me of X58 more than any platform since X58....weird incompatibilities, growing pains, detail overclocking, much more...
Maybe it varies significantly from phone to phone?
Mine, and I showed it to the people in my office, if I used it anything other than dead on was a terrible blue tint. Sitting in my lap..blue tint, turning it slightly to show other people...blue tint.
Everyone thought it looked like a...
The screen on this phone is absolute garbage. Already packed mine up to send back.
Far worse than my $140 Galaxy Alpha.
If you think a severe blue tint from even the slightest off angle is acceptable then you must be blind.
I have no idea how a $1000 phone could ship with a display like this...
I play a lot of cities skylines on my desktop
It's one of the few well multithreaded games so waiting for the 6 core coffeelake HQ laptops would be worthwhile
1070m and 1080m have a a lot more power than their equivalent 900 series
Ended up going with a Lenovo P71 17.3" due to the awesome prices offered via the google'able lenovo corporate perks code.
I also need a ton of storage space for upcoming jobs.
I currently have a 15.6" external monitor but the portable stand above for larger displays looks nice
