Game was bad until I turned off in game v-sync and forced it in Nvidia panel, and then upped the mouse sensitivity to max, then it became the best game I've played all year.

Been using TrackIR 2 with flight sims for years now, best piece of kit I ever bought for immersion. Yes, turn your head, keep eyes forward on screen, obviously you can adjust how much the view moves in relation to head movement so you don't need to be able to see out the side/back of your head :)

No, IL2 1946 is the most recent and contains the entire IL2 series including Pacific Fighters. Don;t buy anything other than IL2 1946 for that series.

If you had an active account in the past you'll be able to log in with it until the end of the month. The new RoK starter area is ceratinly th ebest place to start currently, however everywhere else is about to have it's items updated so they should be more even.

Loads of new people just started EQ2 with the release of Rise of Kunark, it's not at all too late to get into and is a great game. As said get the Rise of Kunark pack, it contains everything that has been released so far.

IL2 1946, should be fairly cheap by now too :) Avoid Lomac as it has Starforce in most versions, someone should be able to tell you which don't have it hopefully.

Plenty of options can be switched on or off to make IL2 arcade or simulation, you just have to get your head around all the double negative switch titles.

And yet somewhat sadly the most vocal and apparent part of that community is probably one of the most immature I've ever had the displeasure of coming into contact with, mind you seeing as how I've been avoiding the forums for a good few months now that may have changed.

Well that all depends on your gunnery skills, I've seen plenty of planes get utterly shredded by P47's in IL2. At what range are you firing, are you even hitting with all guns as convergance plays a large part in it too.

Not a chance, retailers have the dates wrong, xmas is the current date.

The sensitivity is adjustable, I only have to turn a few inches to look behind in game and certainly never enough that I am anywhere near losing sight of my monitor.

Get IL2 1946, you can have decent air combat then. TrackIR is simply awesome, I refuse to fly without it :D

You may want to check your system over, my e6600 and 8800 GTS runs in ultra mode far faster than that, it's almost playable and it runs high without any issues whatsoever.
