AMD did this with the RX 560. The OG 560 had 1024 sp's, than AMD came out with a 892 sp variant and kept the same name. Later they came out with a RX 580 2048SP edition, which was nothing but a RX 570 with higher clocks.
Just received this in my email:

I agree. Took me a good 20min to find all the storage containers in Doomsayer Peak last night. I keep wishing I had a headlamp or something since a lot of the interiors are dark af and the storage containers don't stand out at all besides having a purple top. I'm a 100%'er, so I gots to get 'em.
Put about 6hrs into it last night. It's not as good as I was hoping for, but better than Rage 1.
New Dawn looks better IMO, and plays better. 45-50fps avg. on high preset with motion blur disabled. Had to turn the auto-centering off on the vehicle camera because it was fucking with my eyes.
From what I've read, the 2xxGE series chips do not support Precision Boost Overclocking at all. Being as AMD doesn't support OC'ing on these chips, your left to the mercy of the BIOS on your Mobo.
It's not all that taboo. I remember killing (possessed) kids in Painkiller: Battle out of hell, and killing (Necromorphs) babies in Dead Space 2. The only game I played that let you kill normal children without mods was Fallout 1 & 2, you could even receive the Childkiller rep for doing it.
I've seen plenty of PSU's that were going bad, and cause issues like his while being idle, and run fine @ 100% load. That's why I said it COULD be the PSU.
Pulling the RAM as you suggested is also a good diagnostic route to take when dealing with these types of symptoms.
And I'm talking non-multiplayer games. Straight up single player with an endgame.
NES: Super Mario Bros. - Lost count
PS1: Syphon Filter - 30-40 times
PC: Quake 2 - at least 50 times, Doom 3 ( non-BFG Ed.) at least 80 times, Bioshock - 10 times, Crysis - 20 times
Crysis 2 - 10 times.

I believe it is the core temp, but I could be wrong since it's been awhile.
Iirc, When it comes to monitoring temps. You don't use Core temp with an offset for FX cpu's as your load temps will be way off the true value. Use either HWinfo64, HWmonitor or Aida64 and they will all show 2 values, 1...
According to AMD, the max safe temp of the FX 9xxx series is 57c. The FX 8xxx is 61.1c.
Edit: 70.5c for the E versions.
