Nope, no dust. I bought it a week ago. I have my brightness set to 65.

LCD screen gets hot. Should I be worried?

Hello, I have a 24" HP LP2465 that gets really hot, especially in the top right part at the back. I noticed that even the actual screen gets pretty hot. Is this normal? My room temp is around 86 degrees Fahrenheit. thanks!

same as a 23" 16:9 display. There's your reason for a multiple display setup. :)

over sharpened images on LCD - is it a common issue ?

Ok, I got it. :) Can you please tell me something regarding the two questions I posted above? thanks!

over sharpened images on LCD - is it a common issue ?

thank you, maybe it's related to the weird sub-pixel structure of VA screens...or because 24" displays have smaller dot pitch. Dunno. Any thoughts about these two issues:

over sharpened images on LCD - is it a common issue ?

Ok, when i took the shots that I posted above I had been messing around with gamma, some settings from the video card, Hp display assistent and I actually made it worse. :D I ran system restore and now I see quite an improvement, on the lagom gradient test I can barely observe some banding...

over sharpened images on LCD - is it a common issue ?

thanks for the help, guys. @10e: I can see banding on the images from lagom site also, especially in the form of vertical lines, more or less equally distanced with the distance decreasing towards the darker end of the images. I took a few pics of the screen with my crappy camera...

over sharpened images on LCD - is it a common issue ?

I hooked up a 17" crt in parallel and if look closely I can see the artifacts on that also, although greatly reduced; so I guess that the lcd really shows what it's there. My big problem is now banding, I can clearly see it especially in tones of grey (like you see on the header of this website...

over sharpened images on LCD - is it a common issue ?

Thanks for the help, guys. Especially in small images like thumbnails with a lot of contrast between two areas.

over sharpened images on LCD - is it a common issue ?

Nope, I was referring to images like the thumbnails from youtube videos, for example. Or the avatars from a forum etc.

over sharpened images on LCD - is it a common issue ?

So this is one of the things that inherently exists in all LCD screens and I can't do anything about it, right? I even notice it on low quality vids. But if it shows even on the NEC 2490 which is pretty much the best lcd around...

over sharpened images on LCD - is it a common issue ?

I recently moved from an old 21" crt to a 24" lcd screen (S-PVA panel). I really like it, except for the fact that images look over sharpen and pixelated, especially the one that are scaled down, like avatars. They look like a jpg image saved with very low quality settings or a gif with not...

    Online calibration/tests?

thanks, I tweaked it a bit (contrast, gamma) and I managed to improve it, but I can still see some banding on vertical gradients, especially from black to white.

    Online calibration/tests?

Hey guys, I just bought an HP LP2465, S-PVA panel. I am really happy with it so far, except how it handles grey and grey gradients. For example (254,254,254) is waaaay darker than it should be. This causes also some banding. I think I saw a website here on hardforum mentioned quite a few times...

    Hurry up with the OLEDs...

You should see my 21" trinitron, I can clearly see the start bar and the title bar at the top from windows. It is VERY visible, trust me.

Just ordered the Dell UltraSharp 2209WA

Thanks. The thing is that I'm from Europe and here it is nowhere to be found - at least not in Romania. I followed this thread and saw that in USA you can get it for like $250. The price from amazon is very high at $400.

Hello guys, do you know any online stores from usa that sell this monitor? I only found one on amazon and it's very expensive (more than $400). thanks!

Pics of 22" and 24" side by side?

Pls keep in mind that these two have almost the same res: 1920x1200 for the 24" and 1920x1080 for the 22" Iyiama. Your samsung only has 1680x1050.

    Dell 2407WFP rev. A04

thanks for the reply. I also managed to find an HP LP2465, new, for the same price. Which one is better between these two? I don't mind the lack of connectivity of the HP, I will only use it via the DVI port.

    Dell 2407WFP rev. A04

Hello everybody! I've been trying to find a decent non-tn 24" or 22" inch monitor for a while to use it primarely for webdesign graphic and coding, maybe some movies etc. I was going to buy the Dell 2209WA but it is imposible to get one here (Romania), I called all the major stores and they...

Dell 2410WA on wiki, is this some sort of joke?

In which models will the 24" and 26" will be used? As far as I know, LG W2420P was canceled.

Just ordered the Dell UltraSharp 2209WA

TN panel has its downsides, regardless of the company that makes the monitor. Dell 2209WA will be quite an improvement. And it's so cheap in the USA. Here in Europe it retails for $365.

    Dell 2209WA for me?

Yeah, I did, and you were saying that you worked on tn's also. I once used a Viewsonic tn at work and it was horrid. If you don't find it difficult to work on a TN that's just you, it is a subjective preference.

    Dell 2209WA for me?

So you did pro graphics on 6 bit tn panels? hmm...

    Dell 2209WA for me?

I wouldn't say that 2408WFP has better image quality than 2209WA (IPS vs *VA in the first place).

LG announces one 22" and two 24" IPS monitors

To be honest, I doubt it. Even a 24" screen @1920x1200 is pretty much at the limit for me, so a 22" running at the same res is out of the question.
  35. G

LG announces one 22" and two 24" IPS monitors

Well for comfort of my eyes 1920x1200 is just too much for a 22" screen. For that reason alone I would still buy the 2209WA. But that's just me.

LG announces one 22" and two 24" IPS monitors

Yeah well, I'm tired of waiting and disappointed, I think I'm gonna go for the 2209WA. At least it's cheap and has an eips panel. 24" would have been nice though.

LG announces one 22" and two 24" IPS monitors

Not really. He only said that they were planning to release W2420P, but it was canceled. No further explanations, just that they will let me know if there will be any changes in this decision. They also attached this image to the email:

LG announces one 22" and two 24" IPS monitors

It looks like it was indeed too good to be true. I talked again to the LG official and he said that the W2420P was CANCELED. Only the W2220P and the W2420R will be launched. I do not understand why LG didn't announce this.

LG announces one 22" and two 24" IPS monitors

I talked to an LG official today and he told me that the W2420P will be available only at the beginning of august. Also, the price from the stores can be significantly larger than the one recommended by LG. That sucks.
