Need script to assign permissions to folders

    GPU - diminishing returns reached

I never regret my purchases. Nor have the urge to upgrade in the short term. I only upgraded from a GTX1070 to a GTX1070Ti after a few months because I practically got it for free. I skipped Turing. I figured 1st gen RTX was going to be a mess and I wasn't wrong. Now its much better thanks to...

    More DLSS...

Are you talking abou DirectML? AFAIK, its already on DX12, don't know why nobody uses it. I recall MS demoed Forza using it on a GTX1080Ti (I think) even before DLSS came out a couple of years ago or so.

    More DLSS...

I was under the impression that DLSS is not designed for high frame rates. Can't remember where I read it but I think it topped at around 140 fps or so

aaah yes, forgot about CUDA. Wasn't CUDA made open source a whioe ago?

Used video card - What am I looking for? (Editing versus gaming)

btw you should at least double your ram and get a fast M2 ssd. Both can dramatically decrease your encoding/rendering times

Used video card - What am I looking for? (Editing versus gaming)

I wonder if the Radeon VII would be an option because of the 16gb of ram.

Understanding a "streamer" setup in regards to graphics card setup

It really depends on how serious you are with streaming. Actually you don't even need a capture card for streaming, the GTX1080Ti is more than capable by itself. My kid has done some streaming only with a GTX1070Ti But if you want to do PiP and interactions, green screen and stuff, then a 2nd...

    GPU - diminishing returns reached

I find it really funny when people invest on a high end card to last for a long time, yet complain when nothing else comes out that makes them want to upgrade. :D:D:rolleyes::rolleyes: OP you did fine, your purchase lasted a whole new generation, now get ready for Ampere/Big Navi.

[RUMOUR] Nvidia to introduce add in cards for Ray Tracing

I have little doubt that Big Navi will at the very least match Turing in RT, but Ampere? I just don't see that happening. The AMD ray tracing demo doesn't put Big Navi anywhere close to what nvidia has shown (heck I'd say it looks worse than the old Larrabee demos), but since is not on final...

[RUMOUR] Nvidia to introduce add in cards for Ray Tracing

Just like people didn't need shaders, AF, ambient occlusion, etc., etc. :D:D:D I'm not yet sold on RT, but its been really long time in coming. I'll keep an eye on it and see what ampere brings to the table.

Nvidia Ampere Rumors Point to 305W+ TDP 230 Amps , Up to 24GB of VRAM

Remember the good old days when nvidia was both faster and less power hungry than AMD? It seems like yesterday :D:D:rolleyes::rolleyes:

[RUMOUR] Nvidia to introduce add in cards for Ray Tracing

That's funny, I suggested that nvidia did that, back when RTX was first introduced. either a separate card or a separate chip. we might end up getting both btw that would explain why the cards are power hungry in spite of the smaller manufacturing process.

Nvidia Ampere Rumors Point to 305W+ TDP 230 Amps , Up to 24GB of VRAM

And that is the big question...

Nvidia Ampere Rumors Point to 305W+ TDP 230 Amps , Up to 24GB of VRAM

I have mixed feelings about this. Ever since Kepler, nvidia aimed to be much more power efficient. Maxwell was the first step into this and pascal upped the ante. Turing was only slightly better than pascal, but quite impressive IMO given the manufacturing process. I was expecting Ampere to...

    GTX1070Ti won't display

So early this morning I turned on the PC but it didn't display The pc did seem to boot but as I said no display. I reverted to the integrated video and it worked. I didn't have time to troubleshoot as my kid was starting its online class. So I'll have to wait till he finishes. Thing is that I...

How can I install a graphics card into my system, and which to choose?

I tried both ways. bridging the PSUs (basically a jumper cable between gnd/gnd and the power on/power on pins on both PSUs) and powered separately. I started using a separate PSU for my FX5900 back in the day. I've heard dozens of horror stories with burned PSUs and equipment but I never had a...

How can I install a graphics card into my system, and which to choose?

you could use a riser cable and install the card externally with a dedicated power supply. I did that a while ago with a gtx1070 on a core i3 just for kicks :D:D

Dual Link DVI-D to HDMI 1440p adapter?

IME, once you go past 6ft, you need high quality cables. I helped a friend install a projector and couln't get even 1080p from a cheap 15feet HDMI cable. He ended up buying a high speed 20yd or so cable when the project was finalized.

Dual Link DVI-D to HDMI 1440p adapter?

You don't need an active converter, a simple DVI-D to HDMI cable will work. I currently use one on my GTX 1070Ti and it works at 4K60 with no problems.
