To be honest, it's not even set up yet. This is an eval system (one X-Brick) that we've got to kick around for a while. We're going to move some high IOPS workloads over to it from a VNX 5400 and see if it makes a measurable improvement.
This isn't the first one we've set up though, they...
That was the secondary reason why I haven't gotten around it it yet, I don't trust my soldering skills enough to make that 45 degree jump between pads.
I haven't set them up yet, I'll get around to it on a rainy day probably, but we don't have any Juniper gear in house for lab use. I've used the pulse client before and had no complaints.
They've all got their quirks I suppose. I don't want to say the ASAs are without fault, but I'm certainly more comfortable with that platform over the others.
We use the Fortigates for some of our internal infrastructure and they seem to do a pretty good job, but the remote access VPN...
And some cabling pr0n:
This is a rack from a previous employer, mostly user ports and patch panels to other racks on the row. Time, neglect and sloppiness are how it arrived at this state. I gutted the entire rack, replaced some switches and installed shorter cables (2ft vs 7-10ft) and some...
It's been a while since I've posted in here, but I thought I'd share a few pics of my "permanent" lab rack at work. I rotate other gear in and out as needed, but this stuff stays put:
Top to bottom:
Aruba S3500-24P PoE Switch
Cisco 2950-24 Switch (Management Net)
Aruba 3200 Controller

Hey, I've been trying to track this mod down for quite some time after my board was RMA'd and returned with an earlier rev piece of hardware.
This is the doc that EVGA provided for the 758-A1 board on how to do the mod. I haven't done it myself as I haven't had the time, but as I interpret...
I'm looking for an X58 board that supports the 5600-series Xeons and Crossfire. I'm not sure if my board will ever make it back from RMA hell, so I'm looking for other options--I'm not hung up on specific models or brands.
Ahh you're correct, I meant 5:4--I'll edit the original post.
The problem with size is that I have to mount these to vertical motorized arms that can disappear into a desk which limits the overall width of the display.
Well a laptop LCD won't work, I'm limited on the width of the display...
Anything over a network connection is not an option, so team viewer is out.
You actually can scale down. The source I'm working with is natively 1920x1200, and it's already being scaled down to 1920x1080 for wider distribution. My problem is these few monitors can't display that, and...
I've got an ongoing project at work that has some unique requirements for a few displays, and I'm having a hell of a time finding some displays that will work.
The requirements listed below are non-negotiable and yes, I know they suck.
17" Diag Size
5:4 Aspect Ratio
1x DVI-I or DVI-D input
1x...
Recently re-racked some lab gear...
Enjoy

Folks who are underwater in large amounts of debt or in collections are considered to have a high susceptibility to taking bribes, it has nothing to do with honesty.
Probably shouldn't get into specifics in order to protect my customer's interests, but the cases are because it's designed to be a portable solution and you have to protect it during transport. ;)
That server case is a 325lb+ problem.
I always use a fully-tunneled VPN (if not more) while on the road.
On a side note, I was hoping that none of you would take seriously the notion of carting that case around while travelling... :o
^Totally useless, the wheels are on the case lid, but there are no handles on the lids to drag them by lol. I believe final weight on that case was just shy of 200lbs :x
I nearly lost a thumb to one of those a few years ago when a coworker and myself were removing one from a 2 post rack. I was holding the rear of the ups with one hand, while he held the front and removed the rack screws when dipshit decides that it's a good idea to hold a UPS by the plastic...
Just thought I'd throw this out here...
I heard that often too. It was a neat box, but tons of stuff just didn't work as described/documented. We actually ended up running a few different custom code revisions just to make some features work
