I am not pleased with this, I got the email last night also.
We (family of 5) our streaming (youtube/hulu/amazon prime) easily breaks 1 TB a month. With a couple 4k screens, couple of PC's, Xbox series X, and a few other things, 1.5 TB is low month for me.
So I am going to spin up a DNS cache...
For sure, I am super excited for the future of it, Elon said 300mbps by the end of the year, we will see. Either way I am happy with what I have if it's all I get for a while.
I just see so many comments about people wanting to ditch thier "crappy" cable company haha.
Another concern no one...
So not in that screen shot, every so often 1 time a day or so there will be a long enough one, I assume it's when finding the next satellite or something I will rebuffer Netflix. There are layers to this, we (the family) might be streaming 2 Netflix streams and someone will be on YouTube. So...
So I got my availability February 8th, got my equipment on the 18th of February. (I signed up for the beta back in September of 2020.
I live in an area of Oregon that has NO internet option other than hughes or viasat old school satellite. (And those options are a joke, totally over priced and...
So my starlink is up and running!
First day/evening I didn't have much time to get things setup so I sat the dish on the roof of my trailer that sits to the east of my house.
Got it running and ran into a lot of disconnects due to obstructions. I have a lot of tall fir trees on the west and east...
Update: from my post last week.
Equipment has shipped!!!
Tracking number says Sunday delivery.
Availability email came, ordered immediately on the 8th of February. Said 2-4 weeks for equipment to ship. So we are ahead of schedule, fine by me.
Totally I am not worried at all 😃
Plus one of the base stations is in Charleston OR, like 60 miles as the crow flies. The only person that I know that has it installed nearby, about 10 miles away, is getting speed test around 180mbps and pings in the low 20's
I think a lot of the performance...
I got my availability email Monday, and order confirmation payment processed email, as fast I could click through. Email said it could take 2-4 weeks before I see the shipping/tracking number for my equipment.
We just moved, only thing available was via sat or hughes, got via sat (25mbps 60gb...
So I currently have a freenas(just upgraded to truenas)
16x 4tb drives, old lsi hba and 2x intel raid expanders.
E3-1230v2 32gb ecc
Super micro x9scl+-f
I would like to upgrade mobo/cpu/ram, budget under $500 used is fine with me, ebay ect.
Looking to be able to handle some ubuntu 20 vms on...
They are firm on the price, That is why i am looking at alternatives / newer tech. but holy crap between all the different 1650's and 1660's and the 5500xt and 580's there seems to be about 20 different models numbers in that 150-220 price range. then when you read benchmarks and it seems in 90%...
First, is a msi 1070 8gb gaming X worth $200 on the used market? I found one for sale locally.
There is so much stuff in the 150-200 range.
There is a deal on dell for the 5500xt 4gb reference no external power for 150, or the 8gb for $180, now I hearing issues with those depending on the...
longevity for the overall system, is the main purpose, like my current setup was overkill 6 years ago when I built it. So if the next system takes me another 6 years it will be worth the little bit extra now. The ram and storage is a non issue, I will go with 32gb as long as I can add another 32...
So I am going to be building a new workstation for myself at work.
The old I7 3930K and FirePRO V5900 is showing its age now.
Main use of the is CAD/CAM software (FeatureCAM(Autodesk), Solidworks, and a few other basic stuff.
So I was thinking of doing a Threadripper 1900x-1920x vs a I7 7820X...
That is the way we do it now, and it is a little complicated for the boss to do, but thanks for the thoughts, I have a few IDE SSD's I am currently testing on one of the machines.
Not a fan of the kingspec ones, but the Transcend one I have has been working great on NT 3.51 on that old...
Oops forgot to ask if anyone has any experience with the KANGURU SOLUTIONS KCLONE, it looks like it would work but never heard of them.
the startech one that goes for about $175 has some horrible reviews when using IDE so that one is out.
I need an offline clone machine for 2 IDE drives (1 source - 1 Target)
I have some old Machines (CNC mills) that have NT 3.51 on them
as some know you can not hook up a NT 3.51 drive on Windows XP or newer as it will auto update the file system and make it not bootable. So cloning software...
well the netgears have a monthly limit, I just need that monthly to be daily and reset every day.
I just cant imagine that nothing out there custom firmware or small firewall/router box would not be able to do this, since there is the option for the monthly
Can anyone confirm that an ASUS RT-N66U has a daily traffic limit and what kind of options are there as in per mac, IP, port?
I asked a similar question a while ago, but I have seen some new routers talking about daily traffic limits now, just curious if anyone with a new router WRT or not...
You could just take some wire cutters and clip the lower cross bar if it was in the way, I didn't want to so I could take it back if I wasn't happy with temps, so for so good at a mild 4.0ghz on a 3570k
So I got one of these Antec 620's just to see how quiet it could be using just the 140mm fan in my Lian Li PC-Q11 for the radiator with an adapter bracket..
So I didnt want to cut up anything or mod anything on the cooler so I could return it if I was not happy with the results.
But I am...
I got the ASrock Z77E-ITX sitting waiting on the CPU.
waiting on the i5 3570 from microcenter, it says it will ship just waiting for the confirmation.
as soon as it gets here I will do a little mini review on it if anyone is interested.
Just bit on a 3570k from micro center for 198.00 including shipping,
Has anyone ever had any issues with their shipping? I live in oregon so nothing close was thinking of fry's but there price looks like 250 and its a long drive and I might not even get one if they run out of stock.
Hey Guys not sure if anyone cares to see these but here you go.
My new build,
Corsair Vengeance 4GBx2...
Does the one on newegg have front USB 3.0 ports?
If it does is it the 20 or so pin connector on the motherboard or is it the USB male connectors you feed out the back of the case?
Or is there a simple mod to get the front ports 3.0?
Case in question...
Archon, One cnc programmer to another honestly what was your machine run time on that entire thing.... lol
By no means answer that for me, just probably a lot of people dont know how long it takes a machine to actually surface mill that big of an area.
Your talks of carbide love cracks me...
holy crap so the version i had didnt have the option to create, thank you jthomas! I guess its been a while since I updated vm player.
Close thread, VM player 4.0.2 build-591240 has the ability to create windows vm's
yeah I am not trying to do anything without proper licensing, at least I dont believe I am, If I am please let me know.
and thanks for looking into it feverlax
just to clerify I dont want windows installed I will do that with my own cd and key, just want the bootable config file for vmplayer.
thanks but not a fan of windows virtual pc, vmplayer is just leaps and bounds performance wise ahead of it. And I have a bunch of old VM's that I use the free VM player for. So would like to use that.
Correct me if I am wrong but there is no liscensing issue here. Because anyone can register...
Can someone build me a vm config file to boot from CD using workstation 8, just a standard windows box 2gb ram 2 cpu 30gb harddrive so i can boot my own windows cd for testing stuff.
I have looked at the online builders and they are all for the older vm versions and dont support a few things...
this games success is half "Its freaking star wars man" and the other half is "its not wow man"
I am shocked at the 200mil figure I am sorry this game is no were near finished, for 200 million freaking dollars this thing should be flawless, the issues the game has while some are minor dont...
I have been given the go ahead to build a new programming machine for myself at work woohoo!
I know this is a crazy question but I have looked all over newegg for a Intel board with a floppy connector.
This is a for a CAD CAM workstation at work. We have a lot of machines with floppies...
thanks for the replies guys
so i might turn this into different upgrade,
Look forward to anyone with a 3x 1680x1050 on a 2gb 6950 that can post some real world BF3 benchmarks because if its playable with decent settings then I might still do it, or else I will just do the CPU upgrade now.
So I am thinking about getting 2 more monitors but I don't want to be disappointed in performance. So chime in any results or recommendation please.
Currently I have a 6950 2gb twin frozr and looking to add two 22inch 1680x1050 monitors for eyefinity so will be gaming at 5040x1050.
