Gigabyte is also speedily releasing. F5a with 1.0.0.6. Since I'm tuning my X3D CPU I went ahead and tried it. This one is working just fine as an alpha release so far, at least it's stable. Now if they can just bring back a feature or two they removed and improve memory OC a little bit...
And just to tie it off, Gigabyte replaced F4B with F4, a non-beta release. This fixed most of the issues, although they left DRAM Power Down off. So there is no way to turn it off on this board, at the moment. Maybe it'll come back when they release the next BIOS with 1.0.0.6.
Unfortunately that's most of the motherboard vendors. I could replace Gigabyte with ASUS in that last post and that would mirror my experiences with them exactly. Doesn't change the fact we have to deal with them because ASUS makes a good chunk of the best boards out there.
I still frequently...
(Speaking specifically of the Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX but other boards with the same BIOS set have the same issues)
There are several BIOS features that are mega borked with Gigabyte's F4B (1.0.0.5C) and have been for a month.
DRAM Power Down (mass instability if you disable it to improve...
No sign of any more 7950x3d CPUs anywhere after NewEggs 10 minutes of stock on the 13th.
If something doesn't change real fast here I'm going to take a 7900x3d and sell it later... or not. But I'm definitely not going to count on being able to get a 7800x3d on launch day. I'll have something...
That's... interesting. Really interesting. Like, why don't I buy one of those anyway kind of interesting and I can build another machine out of whatever I don't keep.
Thought I had a 7950X3D from Newegg just now... but they actually cancelled my order several minutes later. Unbelievable. It's video card frenzy, CPU edition 2023.
So my 5900x setup and mobo are gone. Sold them before I went on vacation a month ago. Seemed like a good time. Did fine on that. Now for the really tough choices:
If a 7950X3D was in stock for MSRP id just buy it right now and be done, but there have not been any anywhere online for over a...
Because my LG OLED is a universe better than my 144hz gaming IPS screen...
I'm on the IPS screen now on a secondary system I still use it on. It's ok. Good. Maybe even pretty great. But the OLED screen just obliterates it in every single way. Color, contrast, brightness, HDR, everything...
You are waffling again. :)
You were just talking about getting a 6600XT...
AMD has FSR 2.0...
The dude 2 posts up is selling a virtually new 6800XT for $400. That's GOING to play a Diablo game at 4k either with FSR or slightly reduced settings, and I'd be surprised if you had to do both.
6700xt $349.

It's going to do better than you think. I'll bet you keep it at least 2 years which should be enough time for the...
"Best setting possible with 4k" as you put it, truly only exists with the 4090. Everything else is a compromise of some kind. 4090s are $1650 today.
I play at 4k with a 3080 Ti and am completely satisfied for the moment.
Try this: $799 ASUS 4070 Ti.

Based on everything you've said, your reluctance to buy used, and...
I played through RDR2 at 1440p on a RTX 2080 which is neck and neck with a 6600 XT. The experience was memorably awesome... and that was before the days of FSR and DLSS being good.
I'm sure the RX 6600 with FSR2 on will pretty much still be awesome at 1440p. 60 to 75fps is real good for the...
Breaking this down to a nutshell without typing out a wall of text I'd do one of two things in your case:
Get a 6650XT from Newegg right now for $290 and call it DONE. You'll double your 3D perf over the 970 and you can watch for the next 12 months for a good opportunity to rebuild the whole...
While I agree with the general sentiment of not being locked to a game service and the THEORY of physical games being a more lasting medium... the reality is that Steam has so far done a better job of making sure I can install any game I have every purchased from them and play it. There are a...
You are exactly correct, but I guess the game plan is to let the glut of high end used cards filter down and become the main stream cards. I can't believe Nvidia and AMD intend this to be permanent but perhaps until the weird last few years of supply chain issues sort out they're both ok with...
If you can get $1000+ for it, you absolutely should sell it and get a current gen card. You just hit the lottery.
If you can't, might as well enjoy it.
There are many of us here with thousands of desktop hours on our LG CX displays with no burn in. If we are already talking about expensive displays and staying under 50" is required, the 42" LG is a hell of a choice.
And yes if I was buying again right this moment I'd have no choice but to...
Ok, you need something akin to an external NAS enclosure, but without anything complex. Just a JBOD plug in drives and use them. Here you go. Cheap, solves the problem, has 10G USB speeds, and you can connect it via a USB cable and have it sitting nearby but completely out of the way of your...
If you look today though, even that video from 3 days ago isn't keeping up. The 6600xt is up over $300 again.
I think there is a vast underestimation of just how many people WANT or NEED a new graphics card after literally about 4 years of insane prices and near zero availability.
In my...
The big youtube video card reviewers need to do frequent videos of $200-300 video cards running x or y latest game on both 5+ year old and 2-3 year old CPUs and critique the EXPERIENCE.
I'm moving back and forth between houses a lot right now and the place I'm working on doesn't have a good...
I'm 100% with Supercharged on this one. I have the CX48 from long before the C2 42" became available and I love it. Can't imagine any monitor lover not being head over heels in love with a LG C2 42". 4k, GSYNC, 120hz, OLED, all at the same time. No problem. And it's only 42" so not so huge...
I didn't even see the power supply question.
Bit of a LOL at that one man... you have 1000w Seasonic. That one is easy. You don't need to change that EVER until it dies. Which will probably be 12-15 years. :) (bit of sarcasm maybe not THAT long... but it could be.)
Yes you absolutely will get excellent results with that cpu and a 4090. A newer CPU might get you a few percent more frames. It is not going to be enough difference to seriously consider tossing your 11900k and buying a 13900k system. At 4k especially the video card is always the main...
That's exactly why I said it. The card is two year old tech now no matter how you slice it. There's no substantial advantage to one card vs the other beyond them being liquid cooled unless you are actually overclocking to the absolute limits.
Either way, you open the box of a brand spanking...
This isn't worth arguing about refunds. The products are close comparable enough. And they're offering a new one.
Even in the best of time I wouldn't expect an RMA of a watercooled model to go well. This is a win.
Yes. Take the new card. Don't wait on that. Just do it.
EVGA is out of the video card business. If they still have a new card to send take it.
Even if they weren't exiting video card sales, it's been two years since launch. You're lucky as hell to be offered a new card no matter what...
Great game if you play it through on the hardest setting to begin with. Just don't assume the levels on missions (or your own level) has much to do with anything on that difficulty and it gels out and is pretty fun. You don't start to get a little OP until fairly late in the game.
I wonder how many of those sales are wannabe scalpers who bought with the intention of flipping a couple of cards but will return them unopened to the store in 30 days if they don't sell?
Ha! I kind of forgot about the reviews showing the 4090 card size because of the coolers, which is the same cooler on all(?) AIB's 4080s. So yes, a smaller Founder's cooler is a big big deal with these even if you have a fairly good size case.
That's right on. What I've been surprised about is that there have not even been any decent proof of concept playable games from anyone where the entire lighting system is RT. With the release of the 4090 it really seems to me that DLSS upscaling from 1080p to 4k should be able to get us some...
That Strix is $50 less than the MSRP of a 4090. I know we've talked about it to death, but it's still breathtaking to actually SEE it for sale. That makes zero zip nada NO sense to buy. Even the ASUS TUF is $200 over MSRP. The Zotac would be the one, but still... $1200. The "worst" (is...
Well if you are talking about that new 165hz 3840x1440 QD-OLED Alienware screen, yeah a friend was showing me that one last night. I think of all the displays where you could really just say "F-it" and pair it with a 4090 that would be close to the golden combo. A little less vertical res than...
I feel you Zorachus. I'm not afraid to buy a new card the moment I can justify it on the balanced scales of "need/want/cost".
But you know I picked back up in Horizon Zero Dawn last night on my 3080 Ti and continuing along at 4k HDR and I don't feel like I'm missing performance by not hitting...
You'll notice there are no 4090s now. Everyone else has figured this out as well.
The listings that are out there are scalping between $2200 and $4000.
All part of the plan.
