Yes, but I think Premiere Pro takes advantage of the NVIDIA chipset on certain cards to deal with rendering. I'm not sure what the case is now, what cards would work (which can also be obtained) and how integrated graphics would handle it. One of the reasons I was considering a pre-built machine...
Right now I'm using 2 Dell u2410's 1920x1200. The same or better would work.
I'd prefer an 11th gen chipset, 10 would be okay but then I lose the benefits of newer PCI and faster SSD tech (I think).
My system is still running strong (but with a few glitches due to newer software not liking Windows 8 much). 3930K, 32 Gig DDR3 Ram, 512G SSD for OS and software, a few HDD (2TB worth) configured in Raid for storage, GTX 680.
I need to build (or preferably buy) another system to use elsewhere...
I'm running a production Dell R710 box, ESXi 5
Dual X5570, 2.9 Gig 4 cores per socket
96 Gig DD3 Ram
Perc 6/i controller
6 300GB SAS drives in a RAID 10 Array with 2 hot spares.
My first thought is the biggest improvement will come from SSD Storage. It's not worth upgrading the R710, since I'd...
The thought process on MVC was to force myself and any future employees working on the project into some sort of php standard/guidleines, it isn't really necessary to achieve the result I need at the moment. If I wanted to, I could probably pick up straight php fairly quickly, but then the code...
The biggest item on the wish list was the shortest learning curve based on my familiarity with Classic ASP. It appears no matter what I go with I'd be nearly starting from scratch, so it will probably be PHP/Yii (although I will fire up the VS IDE and play with .Net before making a final...
Background:
I started developing my corporate website nealy a decade ago in Classic asp (it's all I know, gets the job done quick, and with recent additions to the site using jquery it looks pretty decent) but, the code is a complete mess since the site has grown. I'm constantly having to add...
Thanks!
Took me a while, but I finally figured it out... Teamed 2 Nics, VLAN set up, and ESXI firewall is set to only allow management connections from two static ip's, one I am usualy at, if not, I can use logmein to get to that computer and add an ip from where I may be.
I am about ready to take my server over to a datacenter for colocation and want to make sure I have it as secure as possible before going live.
Management is isolated to one physical LAN card, and firewall in vsphere is set to only allow access from my LAN ip's and my office IP address. I...
I have an image of the server (which I have used to simulate a dummy recovery procedure that worked), backups of data, and another 1and1 server as a backup with data replicated to it.
For the server, I've decided to go with a Dell R710, 2 X5570 CPU's 48Gig Ram, 8x300gb SAS drives (7 in Raid 6...
I am leaning toward Xen/XCP -- Playing with it now in a nested Vmware workstation setup, but vSphere is not out of the question, just haven't figure out cost issues on it yet.
For the server, there sure are tons of choices in the sub $2,500 range on ebay. That would be about the max. price...
Not really sure, looking at this page http://www.cpubenchmark.net/multi_cpu.html to see where I can get the biggest bang for my buck. Pretty much anything is going to run better than my existing windows box (Quad Dual Core Opteron 2214).
I just looked at fleabay -- I can get a G5 with Dual...
Windows Box is used to host a corporate website & SQL Server, data intensive operations, and it gets a bit of traffic. Also host a few other sites, landing pages and blogs on it.
The Linux server is primarily for wordpress blogs.
On second thought, I may not want to build it. If I can get away with hardware that's not the latest and greatest (been doing it for 5 years anyway) it might be easier/faster/cheaper to buy one prebuilt on fleabay
I am paying over $400/mo for a dedicated Windows Server from 1and1. The box is five years old, and I've been reluctant to upgrade, due to the fact that I'd have to move everything, reconfigure, etc... Figured it's worth exploring other options first (and if I did upgrade I would most likely...
Just expanded my business, and in the satellite office I need to set up a box primarily for printing stuff that's already been designed on my X79 powerhouse box at the main office. It's still going to need to run the same programs, but I won't be heavy into design and editing, just printing...
Just got an ultraslim U300 for my wife, there is no optical drive in the machine and the One Key Recovery Program that comes installed will not burn an ISO to an external USB drive.
Will buying an external burner work, or is there an easier workaround?
I know there's a partition on the...
I am not sure about the 2Wire, I have Uverse with an NVG510 (which is a genuine certified POS). Turn off all firewall settings and use IP Passthrough -- Allocation mode Passthrough, Mode DHCPS fixed, and enter the mac address of the router you want to use. I have it working with pfsense as a...
I'm thinking it's dead. Tried everything, so I pulled the drives out, which are 2 128GB Micro SATA in Raid 0 (which by the way I've had to reformat 3x since I got the machine. I have no clue why Sony opted for this configuration, but that's another story).
Ran up to Fry's, bought a cable to...
Machine spins up, power button lights up, keyboard lights up, no beeps, screen black, HDMI out doesn't display anything, neither does the VGA Port.
It happened all of a sudden in the middle of the night. First thing I checked after it went black was to see if the shared folders were on the...
I have pfsense and Qnap TS-809 configured exactly the same as your diagram.
The "red line" is different subnet on the network or DMZ
Use 3 nic ports in pfsense, 1 WAN, 1 LAN, 1 OPT. Config the OPT as your DMZ.
The QNAP has 2 ports and they can be on different subnets.
Resurrecting this thread in case the OP hasn't figured if out -- I just ran into the same thing. Enable the http pre-processor on the interface tab. Some of the rules depend on it.
Long story short, my QNAP TS-809 was RMA'd and back, but to get it working correctly I need to update to the latest firmware which will reinitialize the drives.
Here are my questions:
I have 5 2TB drives in a Raid 5 Array and writes over the network are slow.
Would I be better off switching to...
Well the DNS issues are solved, the modem logs have been empty for a while (they usually fill up in a few minutes), but the original issue of foxpro not maintaining a solid connection like I did with DSL is still there. The only other setting to screw with in the modem is MTU, which is defaulted...
I had actually tried that with google (8.8.8.8) and it worked, but caused my asterisk server to drop calls after 20 seconds. Just tried it again with your OpenDNS settings and everything is working perfectly, thanks!
After an hour, my router log is empty. Will see how it looks tomorrow.
Apparently, the NVG510 has DNS issues that AT&T refuse to acknowledge or update via firmware. Googled it, and others have gotten around it by putting the modem into bridge mode via ip pass-through and using another router behind it.
I already had it set up this way with Untangle as my router...
Yes, the ODBC connection is on the FoxPro Machine which is connected to the LAN, no tunnels. I'm not sure if a DNS lookup is even being done, the ODBC connection uses a static ip address to connect.
No.
I forgot what the mode is called on the modem, but I basically bypassed the firewall and everything in it. The modem goes to a dedicated Untangle server, which goes to a ProCurve 1810 Switch.
Had it set up the same way on DSL with no issues.
I've been on uverse with an NVG510 modem for a few months, and I'm having an issue with the connection going down for about a millisecond or so every so often. You don't notice it when web browsing, but the problem is that I have an ODBC connection open in one of my Foxpro apps, and that...
I was so satisfied with my Noctua NH-D14 on my Q6600, that instead of taking it off, going back to stock, ordering a free bracket, and moving it my LGA2011, that I just left it there and bought the NH-D14Se2011 for the other box.
It's huge, but it's easy to mount, quiet, and works well.
Edit...
Have TMP & TEMP variables set to a Ram Drive & I just changed my Firefox cache to a Ram Drive and went to a few websites, closed browser, went back -- definitely a noticeable difference.
The biggest apparent speed gain -- Try going to a website where you are going to download something to...
First, I've never done this and have no experience in benching. The 680 was the final component I was waiting for to build my LGA 2011 box, which I finally got together today. I was anxious to see if the cuda card hack would work and how much difference Mercury playback would make on this card...
The Array is strictly used for HD video capture from my Blackmagic Intensity card. It needs high transfer rates to capture 10bit 4:4:4 raw video right off the camera. After it does it's job, the file is copied over to a secure drive for editing, and backed up to my QNAP NAS system.
As long as...
For now, I used Windows Disk Management to Stripe the drives and left the rest of them alone. Getting 465MB/s write speeds across 3 drives. Any downside in keeping it this way?
I posted this in the Intel MOBO forum as well: If I can't mix Raid and AHCI, I may need a controller card. I really don't want to have my OS and Data drives in Raid mode, as recovering data in the future might be a problem if I ever have to pull the drive and stick it in another box.
I have my...
I have my Rampage IV nearly built, OS is on an SSD plugged into SATA6G_1, 3TB Data Drive plugged into SATA6G_2.
I am trying to add a RAID0 Array to the SATA3G connectors, but the BIOS option seems like it will make changes across every SATA port (there is only one option, either AHCI, RAID...
I'm building an LGA 2011 box, OS on SSD, Data on separate Drive, each connected to an Intel 6gbs port. One of the two ASMedia ports will go to my optical drive.
That leaves the 4 3gps SATA ports open, and if I use them, I would like to have 2 RAID 0 volumes, one will be used solely for Black...
EVGA back in stock at newegg. Got lucky 3 seconds ago with a refresh and snagged one, along with some other stuff that was sitting in my cart for a few days.
