TnT2
256
8800 GTX
980/Ti
1080/Ti
3080/Ti
The way I see it, the TnT2 was the first real threat to the Voodoo lineup, the 256 was the nail in the coffin since they were on shelves months before 3Dfx had anything to answer with and, by that time, the GeForce2 was a big middle finger to the Voodoo...
That's the historical norm of corporatism. There is a difference.
nVidia had the ever-deepening pockets along the way to start buying up various IP and eventually entire companies...not one peep from the taxpayer funded government administrations that are supposed to be watchdogging and...
I'm pretty sure *most* people are using their own vehicles instead of stealing them when speeding, driving recklessly, or DUI, which vastly outnumbers the amount of vehicles stolen to be used in other crimes.
This is frivolous and ridiculous on the SEC's part.
It's like blaming the auto makers for not saying how many of their cars were sold to people that used them to commit crimes: speeding, reckless driving, DUI, getaway vehicle, etc.
That info doesn't exist in their databases!
Does the SEC expect...
This is great - as an EE that focused on electronics and computer theory/repair doing all sorts of solder work in the classroom and as a hobbyist at home, this warms my [H]eart.
Eh, you're current setup is likely not bottlenecked at all.
The differences between the 3700X and 5950X with the 6800XT being put under proper load will be negligible...
Have you tried underclocking the core and vram around 5-10% to see if it makes a meaningful difference or not in regards to the load temps?
If you're going to sell it anyway, then just sell it since it'll be the next owner's potential concern. You have proof from ASUS that they tested it and...
I have fond, fond memories of Sierra titles from yesteryear. They were one of those staple brands that really helped mold PC gaming back in the golden era.
I totally forgot about Catacomb 3-D! Which is probably why Wolf 3D gets the bigger piece of the attention pie...because a lot of others forgot about it, too.
The Descent series really sticks in my mind, since it took FPS style to another level (on a grand scale) using X-Y-Z axes for movement...
Love the Ryzen 5000 series, but this is about as worthless an entry into their Zen3 product portfolio as they can get right now.
Zero discernable real-world benefit outside of synthetic benchmarks. For those that play benchmarks all day, then grab one and more power to you...
Thanks for the heads up. I'll be staying put with the BIOS that I currently have on my Tomahawk since my DDR4-3600 and 5800X are running like rockstars right now.
When Crucial/Micron spun them off into their own sub-brand, I always kinda hoped to see some diversification of their product portfolio such as cases, PSUs, maybe even delve into the GPU AIB realm.
As far as the company, all I own and recommend for RAM and NAND is Micron/Crucial/Ballistix...
There's definitely gouging going on.
I got lucky and was able to snag an MSI 3080 Ventus at MSRP $750 shortly after launch.
Today, that same SKU now has an inflated MSRP of almost $1100.
Price these right and pump them out in abundance, Intel will make billions while solving the global GPU shortage (and price gouging).
Hope this works out!
FFS, just buy a cheap stereo alarm clock that can play media files/CDs and blare some Anthrax, WASP, Static-X, Megadeth, Pantera, and White Zombie...if they can't fall asleep to such comforting sweet sounds, then that's not the problem.
And then there was one.
One brand of 3Dfx based video card.
One brand still clinging to the hope and dream that 3Dfx will come back and reclaim the crown.
LOL
All jesting aside, this is so cool!
My absolute most memorable "wow factor" with PC gaming was when I fired up some Glide wrapped games...
Wow now that is a blast from the past! I remember seeing these on shelves of my local Best Buy, CompUSA, and various independent computer shops.
Quantum3D was *THE* brand to have, back in the day.
Had a buddy that went to work for them sometime between 98-99 then moved back about a year later...
I don't care if both of the dudes wanna duct tape their weenies to their taints and walk around in public with makeup and styling looking like they are out of the Hunger Games capitol...as long as they do their jobs writing and directing movies while not injecting a bunch of political agenda...
Took my kids to see it Christmas Eve.
Thought it was pretty good. Story had a bit of an inception feel to it and it was cool to see many of the key characters (both original and recast/"re-coded") in various parts and sequences.
I feel that it was a bit more tame than the original trilogy, but...
My first (well, my family's first) IBM PC/compatible was a Packard Bell with an 8088 and 640k RAM soldered onto the MoBo.
Sprung for the Paradise EGA 480 video card and a 14" 640x480 EGA monitor.
No HDD...only 5.25" 360k and 3.5" 720k FDDs.
Booted DOS 3.31 off of the 5.25".
Many, many hours...
As an Enterprise field repair tech that images, deploys, and supports systems for a huge power company, I have to care about Win11 because it will be in use at a corporate level sometime within the next couple of years. I've had it running on one of the hot spares for a while now: I think it's...
