Agreed. I believe the Sonos is on it's own private mesh, and the Hues may be (.. i haven't really dug into how the Hue hub works...). The biggest issue has been the Nest on the fringes, cameras having issue providing steady live-view in the corners of the house (though back up 10s and things...
Is this a limit of the Lite or the Ubiquity tech itself? 30 should be fine for forseable future I think, but tells me if i should consider one of the more expensive models or not (i haven't found a good comparison yet)
I have a 5G running now, but signal just gets eaten by my floors/walls, 2.4 *mostly* works. Good idea on channel though, i haven't really done that since I moved and moving to something less crowded could help allot.

If i'm reading right, i should be able to toss one of these on 1st+3rd floor of my current home/router, and be good to go?
Hey. I have a fairly large (~3600sqr foot, 140 yr old, 3 story brick) house in a fairly WiFi saturated urban area, I have Gig Fiber coming into my basement into ethernet to the first and second floors, and a line run from the second to the third. Today, I have Fios crap-router in the second...
I use the monitor being basically for chat; music; water pump info, stuff like that. When i'm doing something brainless; maybe toss a netflix window on there. I find currently with the vertical positioning (embedded in OP) that i full screen things and 80% of the secondary monitor is wasted...
I mistyped I think. I meant I didn't think my Ergotron MX could handle my 34" 21:9 (I had it mounted for a bit before I came to that conclusion), and that I wasn't sure if I could find a dual-stacking stand that could hold a 34" below a 21". I just need the 21" *high* :)
Dual stack arm might work; but not sure I can find one I'd trust the 34" on; I have the Ergotron MX (beefier version of the LX) that I had originally planned on using for the 34"; but it was just too awkward on it that I didn't trust. Maybe a single Tall arm for the 21" though; though I haven't...
Ideally horizontal; I'd like it centered right above the 34". I've found half my use case for the second screen since getting the 21x9 has been media playback; where the vertical is a big waste of space. I've generally found that I'm no longer wanting a vertical documentation monitor off to...
Added an old pic I had on phone; I rebuild my desktop since then and moved it to the right; but still basically the same. Vertical monitor is on a nice Ergo arm; the ultra-wide is using it's built instand. I'd like to move the vertial monitor above if possible as the single 34" is probably as...
I have a 34" 21x9 monitor; with a 21" 16x9 on it's side next to it on an arm. Ideally; I think I want the 21" mounted directly above** my 34"; though My arm won't go that high. Any suggestions on how to either 'extend/raise' my desk so I can use my existing arm(Arm is just clamped to the side...
Nice. is there a good pci-e card to add a bunch of these things yet? I have a Samsung 950 in the only slot on my mobo; but I could see adding a bunch more in an expansion slot at some point instead of adding traditional SSDs...
Humanity is doomed :) Ha. I talk to my wife and most of my friends via gchat because we just kind of shifted there over time. It doesn't 'replace' sms; but it's just ~better so when she needs to send me a grocery list or ask a quick question; it just tends to be wherever is most convenient...
Facebook has a chat protocol built in. They split it out and have been (agressivly) adding tons and tons of features to it over the last few years.
There was a backlash that they split it into a separate App; but it does make sense when you see how they're expanding what it can do.
On...
I think it's also true that 99% of the average customers won't notice a difference between 480p and 1440p youtube video on their cellphone. My mom didn't see a difference between 480p and 1080p on a 55" plasma when they upgraded.
The 1% that will notice the difference are also those who are...
And to be clear; the issue people have is that it's enabled by Default.
unlimmited Netflix streaming on my phone on a roadtrip? Yes please; i'll want that enabled 95% of the time as 480p is generally fine for mobile viewing; even on my 1440p cellphone. I trans-coded every star wars movies to...
No; not at all.
It's enabled by default; and throttles *all* video streams to 480p. Services that TMobile Vets; when @ 480p and Binge-On, well... on.. don't count against your data cap at all.
Youtube with Binge enabled; will be throttled to 480p; and still hit your data cap (though...
I'm not sure why people buy the cheaper CPU and more expensive GPU. Why not go for the 6700k; and 970 TI? (or even just 6600k and 970 to drop the pricepoint)
GPU is much easier to upgrade later; easy to leapfrog them and stay in price/performance sweet spot .
It's a good deal; but also somewhat hard to stick to 1gb/data less you go out of your way to do so. If you use ~2; T-Mobile is a bit cheaper if you have multiple people. I have 4 lines on a 'family' plan for ~110/mo after fees/taxes with 2.5gb data per line. Fi would give you a bit better...
Having powered through DA:Origins twice and even a couple of the novels, i was excited for DA:2. I was ~OK with the more 'actiony' fight system, and the repeated dungeons didn't bug me too much. Then I lost hours of gameplay repeatedly due to freezing and couple pick it up to play the same...
I personally have a Blue Snowball mic on a boom arm i swing out for voice chat; lets me focus on quality of the headphone without worrying about MIC. In your case; I'd probably buy the best headphone for my style of music and put an AntLion ModMic on it. Can update headphones and Mic...
How has this not been worked out yet.
My 2 year old MBA works awesome with my monitor; acts as a usb3 hub wonderfully for keyboard/mouse/dac/etc. Then when i switch it back to my desktop I have to manually fumble with cables.
IEMs or Buds? Lots of IEM suggestions, so I'll toss in an 'open' bud
My favorite Buds are probably Yuins, PK3s are in price range but I've seen PK2s from Massdrop or similar for 50 bucks. I liked my PK3s enough that I picked up some PK2s when I saw them on sale and it's nice having a pair...
Open headphones generally sound a little better, but let in more ambient noise (and let other people hear what you're listening to). It's a trade off, I prefer closed for LANs and at work but open at home.
Headphones can be as good or as cheap as you want to make them. Budget, where you'll use them (closed vs open), what you plan on doing (mostly gaming?), and what sound card you are planning to use all factor into what's best for you.
There are really nice PC headsets (the Ath linked, the...
Much better than it used to be; was a PITA of swapping batteries in phone to charge them throughout the day. I pretty much only use the usb battery packs when traveling, and being tethered to a small brick doesn't matter. (both fit in pocket or backpack while out-and-about).
On a day-to-day basis; how do you keep the backup battery charged? That was the killer for me when I tried to do that back in the era of the blackberries (eventually I found a dock that charged my backup overnight, but it was happily retired when USB batteries became cheap)
I think USB battery packs have pretty much replaced replacing batteries for travel. Easier to charge the backup battery (just treat it like another phone) and a single backup battery can charge multiple devices. I just bring a charging hub with 5 USB ports on it when I travel now; make sure...
All, It looks like my ASUS RT-N66U is kicking the bucket; needing ~daily resets now due to signal going out.
My usage is 6 Sonos speakers, Gaming PC, 3 laptops and 3 chrome casts spread around 2 stories of an ~2700sq/ft house (Router in top-front room due to layout issues with Fios line)...
