I’ve been told there have been huge shipments of 3080 12gb models lately. I wonder if this overstock will start to cause prices to come down from the high end.
Still about $200 over msrp but at least it’s in stock. I wouldn’t expect an AIB card with a “better than stock” cooler to sell for msrp but in theory it shouldn’t be more than $100 over. The price scales fairly appropriately from what the 3070 and 3070ti is selling for right now.
My MSI 3060 also has two PCIE connections and never seems to draw enough power to warrant it. Even overclocked I don’t think power would be the limiting factor. Not sure why they did that. Most aib 3060s other than evga are going for around $520.
If you have a windows store account I think you have a chance of getting an invite to buy a bundle that cost ~$600. I got a second offer and they were available to ship right away but passed on it. I think once they send you a link you can always put an order in too but it may take longer to...
They are very capable of running both into the ground. Look at command and conquer 4 and EALA. I think at one point both EALA and C&C were both basically a mobile game studio/game franchise and it was god awful.
I’ve had a ton of crashes on my Ryzen system but none on my Intel system. Enabling dx12 in the config file seems to have helped. Many have said there’s a memory leak and enabling dx12 seems to help it out some. I have double the ram in my Intel system so maybe it just hangs on for a little...
I’m more bothered by the game bundle. None of those games seemed worth the price. They should have at least given a $10 discount on the controller (they are frequently available for $10 cheaper) and thrown a game in for free ($30 for GTAV you have to be kidding). I ended up ordering it for a...
We’ll because you’re trying to keep it below 70C apparently? 70C is not that hot these days compared to newer cards. You’re in for a rude awakening if you upgrade to something like a 3070 or better. Most of these newer cards are meant to run routinely 75-85C depending on the specifics and have...
To me RT was poorly implemented and is asking for trouble in MP. I always got long pauses and stutters in the beginning of a round and that's with a 3090.
I think possibly what got botted was when the queues were first opened for new cards. The evga site was barely working for most of us when those queues first opened. So I think it’s likely that there were bots being used to stack the queue, possibly for the same individuals.
The whole system was kind of flawed. Not to say I didn’t take advantage of it. I was able to get a 3060 (launch queue) and step up to a 3090. But for some reason if you were in the 3090 queue before the 3060 launch it may have taken longer to get a card. And you get charged shipping basically...
I haven’t entered the Newegg shuffle in ages and was selected for an MSI 3060 unbundled. Kind of overpriced like everything MSI but decided to buy it anyway.
Did you all see in the steam survey how there’s more 3090 market share (the lowest of all nvidia cards this generation) than the ENTIRE AMD lineup this generation? Crazy stuff. Obviously AMD is more concerned about other chips right now.
I concur that the RX 6800 XT is a very impressive and underrated card. It sits between the 3080 and 3090 in some benchmarks. The only downside is raytracing performance isn't great and I hear AMD's equivalent to DLSS, FSR, has a way to go.
The 10700k is being cooled by the arctic cooling liquid freezer II 240 and the 5600x is cooled by the msi mag 240r. The 10700k for the most part peaks in the mid 80s in stress tests and the 5600x peaks in the low 70s. Kind of wished I went with a 360 radiator for the 10700k.
Should be alright for a 10600k. I think I lost the lottery on my 10700k as it runs quite toasty at its necessary voltage for the overclock which is a fairly modest one at best, 4.9 ghz all core. Could get to 5 ghz but didn’t like the stress test temps.
What cpu is in that cyberpower pc? If it’s an AMD processor with a 65w tdp it may be more than adequate for that. I have a 240 aio on my 5600x and it’s quite overkill. It runs much much cooler than my 10700k.
Especially lame because I got a notification from the queue specifically saying -KR was removed from production and I would be moved to -KL (light hash rate version). So maybe it did end production but why not release however many made to people in the queue?
Tbh I think at scalped prices it’s more like 6+ months and the problem is the bubble peaked so quickly that it may take longer than that since the peak was only April-May (say 2 out of the 4-6 months needed to break even). I think at msrp it could be as low as 2-4 months depending on the card...
I don’t know how buying a scalped card and mining was ever a profitable venture. At best buying a card near msrp and then selling it used at scalper prices to buy a new gpu at scalper prices would be one of the only ways to make that work.
I had read a report from an analyst that claimed 1 in 4...
I think the biggest factor is the move to proof of stake rather than the price. It’s a complex calculus, but mining was profitable when Ethereum was over $700/ether and will likely continue to be somewhat profitable. One of the reasons pricing has tanked is due to the China crackdown. There is a...
I thought the FTW3 had a better thermal pad setup for vram than the founders edition. Will have to see if others say that helps. I saw one person took the back plate off and installed ram sinks.
As was my concern, the memory Tjunction sensor runs hot hot hot especially when mining on the 3090. It’s been a very hot week here outside so I have had to definitely ramp the fans up. I can at least keep Tj to 100C with a few tweaks. Running with the case side on is an immediate run to 110C...
1650 super runs a little slower in some cases than a 980. So I’d imagine a 1650 runs slower than a 970 by a fair margin. The difference between the 1650 and 1650 super is pretty significant due to the memory bandwidth I believe.
I’ve heard the gddr6x ram is a beast to cool and having 24 gb worth of modules on it really taxes the 3090. One reason why the 3070 ti draws so much extra power and takes a bit more to cool.
Evga is top notch. Though I see a lot of people complaining about the 3090 FTW3’s power limit being too low and locked by bios despite having a theoretical maximum power draw of 525 watts (apparently pulls little to none from PCIE slot the way evga has it programmed). Is it that limited compared...
