right now I installed Wheezy + Xen, made the video passtrough but after installing the nvidia drivers on the Windows Guest, the video card has a yellow triangle in the manager stating error code 43.
Hey guys,
I recently purchase a video card for my Dell C1100. I am currently running of Ubuntu 14.04.1. I spent 2 days trying to figure out how to get the video card to work. I had to 'update-pciids' to get my video recognizard properly for 'lspci' i installed the nvidia drivers from Nvidia...

Hello
I just purchase some new hardware.
supermicro x10slm
intel e3-1220 3.1ghz
corsair vengeance ddr3 1600
When I boot the whole thing. I says "IPMI initialization" and after a few seconds it hangs to "System initialization 15".
I checked many forums, manual, etc. no one seemed to...
I only picked that board since it had 8 sata and supports the new haswell socket.
How about: Xeon E3-1220V3 Haswell 3.1GHz
SUPERMICRO MBD-X10SLM-F-O
and 2x4gb ram drr3 ecc from a place I can find it cheap. I don't know about ECC RAM price, how much should I pay for the above?
and of course...
I find ECC RAM expensive, unless i am not looking at the right place. If I get M1015, i would need to change my actual cables. I am not sure of the benifit from going xeon/ecc since this is used only to storage, I have another rack for VMs and stuff. Thanks for your inputs :)
Hello guys,
I wanted to get an expansion for my current norco 4220, but I decided to upgrade the hardware instead.
What doesn't change :
Norco 4220
3ware CBL-SFF8087OCR-06M 0.6m Multi-lane Internal SFF-8087 Serial ATA Reverse Breakout Cable
PSU: 850w corsair
New hardware :
CORSAIR...
th @westock2000, I will check for articles about that over the internet.
i have a norco 4020 atm with 14 drives and I don't have such delay/timer device. It boots just fine. The HBA/RAID card actually scan the bus before the OS boots to see the drives. I could also add...
I listed the 4570S but it was not because of the watts, I will go with the haswell i5, but I don't know which yet. 32gb ram seems overkill, it will run debian. Can you tell me why I would benefit from 32gb ram?
for the power supply i guess i will go for Corsair-Enthusiast-Series-Modular-TX850M
Hello guys,
I am going to get myself a BackBlaze storage pod 3.0.
With 45 drives in it, I was asking myself what kind of power supply I am going to need.
After some reserach, I found those 1200watts with the c6/c7 idle mode for 4th gen intel cpu. see...
The current rack is a 4020, sorry about the mistake. It already has 20 drives. My plan is to add another rack with 24 bay.
I didn't about SAS, I am not sure why.
Is there a similar card I could use in the expansion rack that doesn't require power from the pci express?
Hello guys,
I am going to upgrade the hardware from my norco 4020 rack and I wanted to check if there is anyway if I could plug another 20/24 drives to the rack.
For the "main" part of the rack i need 20 sata ports :
4 x h4 xport multiplier
6 on mobo
Total : 22ports.
Here comes the fun part...
I recently broke my Supermicro X7SBE
I need a board which will be LGA775 since i got Xeon 3000 serie and 2 PCI-X slot for my AOC-SAT2-MV8.
250$ is expensive for the board, i wanna look for an alternative with another board, i looked into it and didnt find anything better yet.
i dont...
Sup guyz, im going on the next phase for my media storage, i remember that i saw in the pass that 4U-5U with some 25+ HDD room in it, it was RED could you guys help me find it
I guess i will get a frame/skeleton cabinet, then i will make wooden or very light metal panel for it. That way i can customize it and put flames on every sides !
Just kidding, but it is still the most reliable solution
Hello guys,
I am looking for a server rack for my Norco 4220(btw i need to post my build 14TB, 7slots out of 20 taken) and im looking for a cheap solution here. Im looking around 24U and it can be open frame, then i will make panel from somone without any problem. If you guys got any...
i was goig raid0 for performance, but it seems not to be a good idea, i will try to stick with WHS, but i will just put the share option on the drives from My Computer
What about Freenas
aight, i got 2x500gb and 2x1tb, i will soon puchase 4x2tb: raid0 them. transfer all data from the 2x500 and the 2x1tb to them. make a raid0 with the 2x500 and raid0 the 2x1tb,

I got a setup just like Andromeda, i just got a 850w PSU and a supermicro X7SBE(only diff with him). It seems that i cant get the pci card to work. while booting, i can see them on the screen since my motherbaord scan the pci channels. They light up during the boot also. But once totaly booted...
i know that, it help add more hard drive to the system. sounds like i will stick with the build posted in my first post
i just saw that the mobo has 4 pci-x slot, is there anyway to get a 20hdd enclosure with that, so the enclosure would have a PSU, CASE and HDD.
oh those cables, yeah didnt know it was SAT2 or whatever. Still i dont nkow if I should take supermicro mobo and raid card or desktop mobo with 3wire/chebron
I dont get the SAT2 part.
The Norco 4220 is already purchased.
I have build like this using desktop mobo and 3wire/chenbro combo. Should i go with that??
About thr airflow, i might buy better fans likr seen in other threads about this issue in this forum.
I just bought a norco 4220 case and I would like to have some lead about the spec i should get. I have already a build in my head but i would like other ppl opinions about it. The build consist into a main system with 20 HDD no extension.
