Being that I can't really afford both a new GPU and a new CPU/Motherboard/ram/case, I will go for the later and stick with my old 2080Ti for a while. My 5820k@4.3GHz's life has just about run it's course. I'm sure the 2080Ti will perform much better with a 7800x3D setup.
Hopefully a reasonably...
I’m really chomping at the bit to upgrade now. My 5820k is getting quite long in the tooth for 4k gaming, Unfortunately it looks like I’ll have to wait until April before I finally jump.
In the meantime I purchased Ghoat of Tsushima Director’s Cut for my PS4 Pro for $20. Amazing game...
I have a 5802k@4.3GHz w/2080Ti and FV43U monitor. I guess we’ve gotten to the point where I need to upgrade my setup to play the latest games at higher resolutions/refresh rates.
I can afford to upgrade my CPU/motherboard/ram but not the GPU. Was waiting of the 7800x3D first. I guess I’ll be...
Come on people! I have higher expectations than usual for the folks here. Don't buy unfinished/unoptimized/poor ports. It only encourages this kind of behavior.
I know, this game is going to sell gangbusters no matter what but I refuse to buy a shitty PC port. I still haven't purchased...
Too many good games out to waste time on new unoptimized ones. I just bought Ghost of Tsushima PS4 (I have Pro) version off eBay for $20. When they fix Hogwart's PC I'll play it.
The use of DLSS is really good in this game too. On my 2080Ti @ 4k/144Hz with DLSS Quality and VRR I’m able to play it with all the features maxed out. I have t checked my framerate but it’s a smooth experience and it’s still very sharp.
It’s kind of sad we’re so easily impressed by a mostly bug-free, smooth running Unreal Engine PC release in 2023.
The game is good but it’s the execution that’s the shining star here. I really hope this is a good sign on Bethesda titles moving forward. I say that, but I know Starfield is...
Freebie Gamepass game that came out of nowhere. Has a Sunset Overdrive vibe, it's a lot of fun. I don't think I'd pay $30, this is more of a $5-$10 game.
PC Gamepass is definitely worth the money.
You guys are a glutton for punishment. I stopped preordering games way back when Watch Dogs (1) came out. At least you can refund a game now on all the bigger PC platforms.
I can upgrade my whole PC (I will) for less than the price of the GPU.
I guess I'll be holding on to my 2080Ti for a while. At least my new 4k monitor supports Gsync to help smooth things out.
The 7800x3D has a lower boost clock (and base it looks like) so it will be interesting to see if it will be worth it for the extra money. I bet they did this to keep it from eating into their upper priced chips too much.
Only 16GB of ram (provided they have any in stock) with the 7600x, I’m wondering if I should even bother with the 7700x (32GB with that). I’d probably want 32GB of ram anyways.
What motherboard, case, cooling should I get?
I'm going to be by the Cambridge, MA Microcenter for the first time in a while on Monday (should be insane in there) so I'm wondering if I should just go for it and grab a 7600x or 7700x with free ram deals or should wait to see what's going on with the new x3D? Plus I need new case and...

Definitely a 1000nit display. HDR10 and HDR10+ are a media profile. There’s a table in that page that describes the various DisplayHDR names.
The FV43U could probably support HDR10+ if Gigabyte chose to update it. It already supports HDR10.
I haven't noticed it, I need to check- you should report it to tech support.
Does this monitor have a sleep mode? I can't figure out how to get it to turn on.
Dated 12/12/22 so it’s probably new? Who knows. They don’t post any update notes so grab it while you can.
Win11 now officially supports HDR10+ so I sent support an email asking if they could add it in a firmware update- support replied it’s a HDR1000 display and doesn’t support HDR10. I tried...
It shouldn't matter- but isn't this display bandwidth limited over HDMI 2.1?
I mean for $600 I thought it was worth it- but then the 48" OLED was the same price a couple of weeks later. Either way, I figure eventually OLED will become the standard for all PC displays, so in a few years I'll...
5820k @ 4.3GHz w/2080Ti. I was planning on upgrading this holiday season but I figure I've waited this long I might as well wait a little longer.
Once the new x3D reviews start coming out I will decide my next step.
Has anyone used the Windows HDR Calibration tool for Win 11 with this display? I can't figure it out. I'm wondering what people's suggested settings are.
I assume this display doesn't have HGiG support?
Well I live within an hour drive to Microcenter so I’ll probably pick up a 13600k or wait for AMDs next 3D cpu release. I need to buy a new case as well.

Well it’s on the old side but that’s the one the product I registered links to. EVGA also sells a 12 pin cable for their modular PSs but I’m not sure if it will work right on the new 40 series of cards.
So which is the best chip for a new 4k gaming build? 13600k or 13700k?
I have a lot of DDR4 but it’s all slower, 2200, so at this point I think I might as well go DDR5.

Should be able to handle it? Looks to be single rail. They still sell these today. Good PS.
I'd like to build a similar setup. My current X99 build has an old EVGA Supernova 1300 G2, I assume that should handle it? I assume even though it's 7yrs old it should still be good, correct? That PSU was the only one in it's price range I could find that would push a 1080Ti SLI setup (yes, I...
