Yeah I had messed with reducing the PL when I got my Suprim 4090. At 90% PL, I did a OC of +150 and +1000 memory and saw around a 5-7% performance boost (depending on benchmark) while consuming 50W less power at 400W peak. Not sure if it was 100% stable there, but gamed for a few hours...
No issues running my 4090 on a Corasair HX850i with a 7700X, (2) NVMe's, 1 SSD, EK AIO + 7 total fans. Debating picking up a newer PSU once there are more options out there and giving my HX to my son to replace his ancient LEPA G900-MA 900 W that has been running happily since late 2011.
Picked up a new MSI Suprim (non X) and plugged it in today. Great looking card and no coil whine compared to the Gaming X I had before it. Although I did not use the supplied power adapter and used a PSU specific 3x1 cablemod power connector, so maybe that may have helped with the whine...
What really jumped out to me was the gaming power consumption. 44W average with the 1 CCX disabled (essentially what will be a 7800X3D) seems mightily impressive for the gaming performance achieved. 13900k was using over 3x as much power for essentially the same average gaming performance.
Yeah as others have said, you should be good with a quality 750W. I was running my Merc with a HX850i and even with messing with an overclock I think it barely got much over 600W for my whole system at peak gaming with my 7700X
Example playing.
SOLD my XFX Merc 310 RX 7900 XTX Black. Purchased from NKD here on these forums for over $1200 a month ago. Nabbed a 4090 I wanted to play with so letting this bad boy go since it won't fit in my son's case.
Fantastic card, a good amount faster than the reference 7900 XTX I had before it and...
Just picked up my MSI Gaming X today and started messing with it. 27346 with +175 core and +1300 memory. https://www.3dmark.com/pr/2137680
Interestingly I can go +1400 memory, but only if the core is lower. I think maybe I am running into a power wall since this card has only +6% max power...
I've had good luck with MSI cards in the past, although I think the last one I owned was a GTX 1080 (still running in my brothers computer). Had great luck with MSI motherboards with a Meg Ace X570 my most recent. I actually had a DOA evga GTX 260 way back in the day, but problem free otherwise.
I think the MSI Suprim was also the model I was most interested in, mostly for aesthetic reasons though. I ended up ordering a Gaming X Trio from BB since I had that 10% off coupon and $100 in certificates I needed to use before they expired. Was not my #1 choice, but the price was right...
Agreed, at least at the quality settings (DLSS and FSR2) upscaling at 4k looks excellent 99% of the time. Balanced settings are pretty meh on occasion though (FSR more so than DLSS). Although I have not tried DLSS3 yet, almost want to pick up a 4090 just to play with it and see what I think.
Yeah there seems to be some weirdness going on over there. I am having issues with my new BB credit card. I was supposed to get a $100 new cardmember bonus, it says I was issued 0 in my account even though I have the card and it is activated and I did my obligatory purchase (42" LG C2) over 2...
Yeah I suppose that is the real question. Just an example with the numbers, but would Nvidia prefer to sell 500,000 4070ti cards at $300 profit each or sell double the cards at 1,000,000, but 1/2 the profit at $150 each. If they stick to their guns and refuse to drop prices, they will...
I think you'll like it. Fun card to play with and cools pretty well. I am still sort of tempted to try a 4090 if I could get one for the $1599 MSRP just for the hell of it, but the XTX has been rock solid for me so far (unless I undervolt too far). This was from my last gaming session with...
100%. That gigabyte gaming oc model has been in stock almost non stop for the last week. A few other models hang around for hours and hours. Like NKD said, not sure is up with BestBuy though, they have not seemed to have any significant drops in a long time.
Pretty sure AMD verified it was not a design flaw with the reference cards, it was a manufacturing defect on a few batches of coolers that did not have enough enough water in the vapor chamber impacting a small percentage of cards. I've heard reports all over the place from 1-11% of reference...
That hot spot temp seems high for the cooling potential on that card. But my questions is what is your ambient room temp? What is the actual fan speed when hitting those temps? If it is not consistently that peak 1300rpm or higher I would test locking your fan speed at 50-60 percent and see...
Not sure but maybe that error is from one of the tessellation settings in the Adrenalin software?
Also, I have to say that the XFX card looks pretty dang good. Although I need to pull it out and install the brace, just to be safe.
Like arestavo said, worth is relative. I think it depends on your use case and what you want your graphics card to do and how much you really want to invest on a GPU. Are you really into production tasks that heavily leverage Nvidia features? Then 4090. Do you insist on turning on all the...
Pretty dang pleased with the Merc I just got from NKD (w/7700X). Just started playing with it. Thanks NKD
Compared to my old OC'd 6900XT (also a XFX Merc), this card OC'd is over 50% faster in Time Spy Extreme. Not too shabby.
That went OOS, but the Gigabyte gaming has been in stock for like 30 minutes at least and at one time, 4 4090 models were in stock at the same time on NewEgg. Seems like 4090's show up at NewEgg every day and stick around at least for a few minutes lately.
Pretty sure the ultra high end is going no where. Consumers have voted with their wallets and $1600-2000 appears to be no problem for them to sell out the top end card like 4090's instantly. There is hope for the other tiers, but I don't think we'll see real reasonable pricing again. Better...
Agreed, I've been able to buy a dozen 4090's over the last week if I wanted one, mostly through NewEgg. None have been the $1599 variety though, so not interested.
