Saw this in one of the youtube comments (yes... I know) of a video regarding the s95b burn in. Again, it's a youtube comment so it is probably pulled right from someones ass, but maybe it has some truth to it:
"Regarding the burn in on S95B and A95K, 1st gen QD-OLED uses Hydrogen (Protium)...
With all this oled vs qned debate going on, is there a consensus on what the better option is for text? I look at walls of text for 8 hours a day for my job, and from what I understand oled's pixel layout is not the best for text. What about qled for text?
I tried to make this change last year...

Can someone with more knowledge than me explain why OLED panels don't run at 500, or even 1000hz?
I thought with the instant pixel response of OLED we would start seeing massive bumps in hz, but yet the speeds just mirror what we have seen in LCD for years.
I'm sure there is a simple...
I just want a 42" 16:9 upgraded anything, a bump in hz or a qd-oled or MLA oled panel, any of these would be great.
I'm curious to know how well the 42" LG OLED sold, as I'm getting a little nervous that maybe only the PC gaming segment purchased them. If the sales were low enough perhaps LG...
I know the 49" is a 1440p ultra-wide, so not something I'm personally interested in, even with the 2000 nit brightness upgrade.
However, they are making steps in the right direction, and maybe, just maybe, this means next year we will get 42" 16:9 4k 2000 nit screens.
Whatever comes first will get my money (and probably many of yours):
A 42" 4k 16:9 qd-oled, or a 42" c- series with 240hz refresh.
Either of these will be a show stopper.
Hey guys, I have been watching some Steam Deck setup guides as I wait for my Steam Deck, one tip I saw was "set your UMA buffer to 4GB".
I have only seen this one youtuber talk about this, is this still something that needs to be manually done? What are the downsides to doing this?
The Odyssey Neo G9
"More details will be unveiled soon at CES."
Not something I would consider buying, but cool to see another step in monitor advancement.
Exactly, DLSS and the 4090 has pushed the envelope to now making 500fps a reality. For the first time in years GPU hardware is surpassing what monitors can do.
Hot take: 4k 1000hz is the final pinnacle of pc monitor tech. We don't need more then that. 8k for anything less then a 100" screen is unnecessary, and only freaks would want a 100" PC monitor.
4k 1000hz everyone, demand it, yell it from the rooftops!
How clear is text? I plan on using these for gaming, but also would like to use them as a virtual desktop, but if text is blurry then that won't work for a 8 hour workday.
Uahh yes, the ultra is significantly less expensive in Canada then the extreme, I will need to compare speeds between the ultra and the extreme. If it's not much of a difference I'll just go for the ultra.
Thanks for the idea
Just got my 64gb steam deck, obviously I need to upgrade the hard drive with a 1tb microcd, is the SanDisk extreme still the SD card to get? I understand it's the fastest, but I just wish it wasn't as expensive as it is, so I was considering a lesser speed/expensive sd card.
I know that the sticker price for gaming can be a lot to deal with initially, but the ROI from gaming is a great value. Look at it this way, you spend $1000 on a GPU, that's a lot of money for most people, but think of how many THOUSANDS of hours you can game on that GPU. Where if you go to...
Yeah exactly, the 4090 feels like this is 'it', that this card will cover you regardless of what monitor tech you shoot for in the next few years. 8k 60? Sure why not? 4k 240hz? Go for it!
We are also forgetting that the FPS benchmarks for the 4090 are based off games that are available TODAY. In one to two years from now there could be games that are released that cripple anything below a 3080. I get the feeling the 4090 is the new 1080ti, not in the cost/performance aspect but...
yeah that is how I always felt, I upgrade my system to match my monitor, as having a monitor that is not being taken full advantage of is leaving performance on the table.
This is a chicken or the egg type of issue, maybe no one games at 4k because there was no GPUs that could really push 4k at...
Holy hell I want these, shocking it’s taken this long for a company to release a simple HMD that is just a large screen.
I don’t need head tracking, just give me a large clear screen that floats in my face.
To me it all comes down to this. The amount of people I've seen say the biggest issue with their deck is the screen, and how small it really is. The idea of taking a deck and making it a large viewing experience, but on the go, has to be the future of mobile gaming.
Haha awesome battey/hub...
