So I'm basically trying to get this setup transitioning smoothly
Input Director doesn't seem to allow me to place the server between the two slave screens, and I couldn't get Synergy working correctly either. Does anyone run a similar setup and can offer some advice? Thanks!
Sorry for being vague, I've never really built a server before so I don't really know how beefy the hardware needs to be, but the budget is around $800-1000, with a bit extra for some backup drives. We haven't come to a consensus on an asset management program yet, but if I had to choose I'd...
A bit of background first:
Some other artists and myself want to create a small local studio and start freelancing(fun times ahead in this economy!). We cannot afford to rent actual space, so we are going to work out of our apartments. What I'm trying to do is come up with an ideal asset...
The short of it is I'm working on and installation in a gallery, and I would like to be able to project an image that is about the size of a standard A4 sheet of paper. Problem is the only projectors available to me don't focus well until they are about 3-5 feet away from whatever surface they...
Ok, sorry about the vagueness, been busy with work, but this is the case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811292003
Getting inside, there are no distinguishing labels on the PSU itself that I can see.
Well, embarrassingly enough, I think my psu is some 450-500w thing that came with my case. I don't overclock or use any really high-end components so the wattage shouldn't be a problem, but I can't speak to it's reliability.
Ok this makes no sense, but miraculously after I tried that and reconnected the power to my mobo, and then when I tried to power my machine up...it worked. Now I'm wondering if I overheated something...?
Does this sound like a blown power supply? How do I test for sure, barring swapping to a new PS immediately, since I don't have one lying around? I was just playing a game of left 4 dead and bam, complete shut off, and now when I try and power back on, absolutely nothing happens, no POST, no...
I bought a cheapo DVD drive for a secondary system, so I popped out the old CD-Drive and put the DVD-Drive in it's place, booted, and got this:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/CONFIG/SYSTEM
I stomped around cursing for a while...
I've got a little switch a bought a while ago(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122029) that's been working great till I tried to connect my girlfriend's Vista desktop. She cannot connect to the internet while my machine is on, and visa versa. If I shut down and power...
I tried putting 4gb on my mobo under XP Pro 64 and would crash out of games. Works fine on 3, just a useless stick of Corsair lying around now till I get Vista, I guess :(
I had a fit of nostalgia the other week and downloaded UT 99 off of Steam, but it's been unplayable because of the horrid mouse acceleration/lag I get when playing. It just feels so off that I can't even begin to play it coming from CS and TF2 and such. None of the input settings in the games...
Upon looking at that image on a CRT screen, it looks a lot worse on my LCD. It's just a screen capture from Eve, and the transitions between colors are horrible pixelated and noticeable, with a kind of layered effect bleeding outwards as the brighter colors in the lower right fade into darker...
I'm getting some pretty horrible image quality on wide expanses of color. It doesn't show up in most games with highly detailed textures, but when I fire up a space game, for example, it's hard to miss with shit like Eve Online and Homeworld 2. Anyone know how I can fix this and properly set...
Thanks for the suggestions, anyone got a link that can walk me through what I need to do to adjust the voltage/timing stuff? I've never needed to do anything like this before so I want to be careful to get it right.
I've been told my problem is running Windows XP Pro x64, but I just upgraded to a total of 4 gigs of ram, up from 2, and it causes games to stutter horribly and quickly lock up my machine. I was able to do everything else alright, from what I could tell, but once I started up TF2 or Counter...
Ok EVE just did the same thing to me just now, before the first screen even loaded it started stuttering horribly with slight blinks of activity on the screen. Took out the 2 new gigs of ram, if that doesn't do anything I'll try the drivers that came on the CD with the card...
So I finally replaced my 7800GT with an 8800GT(MSI flavor from newegg, if it matters) and dropped in 2 more gigs of ram. I loaded the latest official drivers from nVidia to be safe, and the other games I play like WoW and EVE Online appear to be running just fine. If I try to start CS:S or...
I can't really afford to get state of the art parts, so I usually spend a couple hundred every year or two depending on what I'm playing and get a nice midrange graphics card. I'm starting to feel the strain on my 7800GT and was planning on picking up an 8800GT this summer now that it's pretty...
I'm looking to pick up a new graphics card this summer, but I don't want to get something expensive that will outperform what I need it to do. I'm a college student so I need my money for other things, for the most part, so I don't want to spend more than a couple hundred dollars on this. My...
yeah, heh, I was more looking at the 130 dollar kits I saw on Newegg and hoping I could jury rig something to get it outside the case, not spend 300 dollars an enclosed, self-contained unit because that's just much too expensive.
Ok, so I'm thinking of doing a basic watercooling setup. The noise is starting to bother me, and I live in a very small room on the third floor of a house, so my computer literally heats to room up to an uncomfortable level. I've done a bit of research about it, and I think it would be ideal...
I even rolled back to older drivers because someone told me that the latest forcewares were causing overheating in the 7-series of cards and that didn't help. Everything is screwed and seated on just fine, too. My case is small and has bad airflow, which I will be fixing this weekend, but I...
I cleaned off and reapplied thermal paste on the contact, but the temperatures still skyrocket above 100c under load. It's even idling at around 60-65c. When I pulled to cooler off there were several cloth strips covering what looked like little black squares or circuits, and some of those...
update: moved the HD farther away from the card and wiped away some dust, no change. Got done with a half an hour of TF2 and it was at 100 celcius. Framerate cut in half after a few minutes of gameplay, with some occasional slow-mo action, which looks cool, but is probably a bad sign. Any...
I doubt it's dust, since this is a relatively recent phenomenon. I've not noticed anything drastic before last night, and dust would be building slowly.
Like the title says, I have an 7800GT that has served me well for 2 years until now. I just noticed a sudden drop in framerate while playing TF2 that happens after 5-10 minutes of playtime. I downloaded a temperature monitor and low and behold I'm sitting at 88 degrees celsius. This just...
I think this is the right place to ask this, but I'm having problems installing some drivers on an older motherboard. I've installed XP Pro using a disk that includes SP2, but my driver disk is apparently too old and wants SP1 to install anything, so I'm guessing it doesn't know what to do with...
That was the ticket! Before I had installed the SATA drive, I was using a single IDE cable that ran from my mobo to my DVD Drive to my Hard drive, and all I did was unplug the HD and install the new one without thinking about it. I uplugged the IDE cable from the DVD Drive and plugged in the...
