jdk's eBay thread - moving out of country, mic / recording / watercooled gfx / blu rays / misc / sony mirrorless

I just bought the dual NIC on ebay. I'm putting together another NAS/media server with old stuff lying around. If you have some stuff that one might be useful for that, I'd certainly be interested (DDR4 Reg ECC, 10gb SFP Nic, etc.)

    Quantum3D Obsidian2 - S12MB - 3DFX Voodoo2 (RARE) Retail BOX (PCI Version)

Wow, I had no idea that regular Voodoo 2 were selling for so much! (not the one in the listing above....some are even more $ than it). I have a mint pair of Voodoo 2 in a box 10 feet from me.

Milwaukee M18 Fuel Impact Driver Starter Kit $159!! (DEAD, now $299)

Did you work with Milwaukee prior to the TTI acquisition? The quality of Milwaukee tools went to shit after TTI purchased them. I was a very larger Milwaukee, Makita, Bosch, and DeWalt distributor for many years. It is really amazing to see the build quality difference in a Sawzall, for example...

Lou Ottens, Father of Countless Mixtapes, Is Dead at 94

Damn, that sounds like it is named appropriately! It appears that we've paid Uncle Sam too much $, so hopefully the UII+ will be back in stock soon :) I've played about with a Sophia 2 equipped machine and the output is unbelievable. It isn't much different from Altirra on this laptop.

Lou Ottens, Father of Countless Mixtapes, Is Dead at 94

I'm aware of the whys and hows of the 1541 mess. I own ~ dozen C64/128 machines, but haven't messed about with any really high speed IEC stuff (just Epyx Fast Load). I have, however, played with divisor 0 over SIO a shit ton and love it. I always wanted a Black Box or the like to try out a high...

Lou Ottens, Father of Countless Mixtapes, Is Dead at 94

You really don't need anything other than a RAM upgrade to run CP/M on them. I have three Indus GT, but one is in storage somewhere and I can't account for it :( I will always standby my notion that the Indus GT is the coolest looking (even sexy in an early 80s type of way) external floppy disk...

Lou Ottens, Father of Countless Mixtapes, Is Dead at 94

True that! I never owned a C64 or C128 back in the day, but did have occasion to use one with a 1541. Good God, is it ever bad. Damned shame Commodore didn't spend the literal pennies per machine to rectify the shift register issue. It wouldn't have been a speed demon, but would have been much...

Lou Ottens, Father of Countless Mixtapes, Is Dead at 94

My experience was the opposite. In Eastern Europe the guys were still using tape drives into the 90s with various 8 bit systems. I used an Atari 410 tape recorder with an Atari 8 bit computer until 1987 (it sucked really bad!). Thankfully, at school we only used tape drives from 1979 until...

    The Rise of Retrocomputing

I'm sorry, but no. As a matter of fact I am going to have to start going to AA (Atari Anonymous). I got a couple of PokeyMax (FPGA Atari Pokey sound chip replacement, setup as two Pokeys and one Covox), an Antonia 4MB (65c816 CPU upgrade and 4MB RAM upgrade), a Sophia 2 (Atari GTIA replacement...

    Fry's Electronics permanently closing Feb 24, 2021

Hmm, I don't think that is it. I will have to think on it. There was also a place in the Atlanta area that sold a good deal of stuff in their retail store and online. I bought several AMD64 CPUs from them when those first came out and they sent out t-shirts with each one - albeit all large or...

    Fry's Electronics permanently closing Feb 24, 2021

Does anyone remember the name of the PC parts supplier from the Tampa area? I bought several things from their online store in the early to mid 00s. It seems like the main support guy and last one there was a member here at [H] back then, too.

    The Rise of Retrocomputing

I haven't noticed this trend. If this is the case, I'm going into my storage and pulling some of them out and trading them immediately. I have a couple of 1902/1902A, but no 1084/1084s :( On the bright side, I got my third new to me 8 bit Atari in this year and a mint Indus GT with case.

    The Rise of Retrocomputing

This is an amazing piece of hardware, Susquehannock! I have several really nice modern machines, including the laptop I'm typing this on (10850H, 2080, etc), but I still use my old machines more. This laptop and another are mostly used with tabs open with PDF manuals for various old machines.

    The Rise of Retrocomputing

Grab a V9958 and really bump up the performance :) I do understand wanting an F18A, though, I'd like to have one, too. Isn't the guy working on a new revision of it? I have some Atari 8 bit parts coming in that are kind of similar to the F18A. My daughter bought me a new in open box Atari...

    The Rise of Retrocomputing

Those are such wonderful machines. The natural and spiritual successor of the Atari 800 hardware. Jay Miner , Joe Decuir, and crew did such great work. The stuff Joe Decuir and his guys did with Atari's SIO interface was visionary (as it is essentially the first version of USB). Anyway...want...

What Is Your Personal Favorite Video Card of All Time?

Without doubt my pick is the Atari 8 bit's ANTICI/GTIA combo. I still use them several times per week. Still have my Atari 400 from nearly 40 years ago, plus a dozen or so similar A8 models. The Righteous 3DFX VooDoo was just a wow moment. I still have a like new Voodoo II SLI set to put to use...
