Thanks for the reply! I had checked those things, but good call as that could have easily been it!
If you look at my posts above this, I found the cuplrit - it was LG's OnScreen Control program for the monitor! [I'll update my original post to reflect this as well.] Thanks again for the...
Yup! I just stopped it from starting automatically and only will use it when I need it or to check for updates. =)
It's weird it introduces such a performance hit. o.O
Thanks! Great suggestion but I'd already been all through power plan settings, even the advanced ones, which is why I was puzzled.
I think I found the problem, though! Turns out, it was a utility for my monitor from LG called "OnScreen Control". When I'd bring it back it must have been doing...
I haven't noticed flicker myself on the OLED with the VRR engaged, either in SDR or HDR. Actually, one of my criticisms with the FALD IPS was it seemed to flicker at times, especially at lower frequencies. The OLED seems more constant to my eyes. I should note for SDR I'm still using sRGB...
As far as I know, there isn't an SDR slider for brightness in Win11 per se, at least not in the same place the HDR slider is when it's enabled. (I know there is a Calibrate Display Color tool for Windows, and I honestly haven't tried that yet as I've been so pleased I haven't felt the need. I...
Thanks for the suggestion! I ran that just in case (it did happen to find two corrupt files - BthHfEnum.sys and BthA2dp.sys...but I guess that can commonly happen from certain video driver installs? Seems relatively common.), so we'll see if it makes a difference.
But let me clarify - I...
RESOLVED 01/31/23: I think I found the problem! Turns out, it was a utility for my monitor from LG called "OnScreen Control". When I'd bring it back it must have been doing some kind of polling to the monitor to see settings (the utility can be used to interact with settings on the monitor in...
Just looked into this. I didn't see it before because for sRGB, which is what I primarily use, the "SMART ENERGY SAVING" option (2nd scroll down under General) was grayed out so not selectable.
It IS available on other SDR modes like Game 1, Game 2, Calibration 1, and Calibration 2 (haven't...
Just FYI I ordered direct from LG's website (the pre-order option) on the 23rd and it just arrived today! Dunno if that situation has changed, but definitely no waiting on my end.
First impressions! (Keep an eye out for things marked "EDIT" as I'll add additional thoughts/findings as I have...
I had the same concern. It's looking like ASUS is launching essentially the new version of this later this year (PG32UQXR) as announced at CES, but it's not known all the details for that yet (AFAIK anyways).
There is an older ProArt that uses similar tech but is a lot more expensive and there...
Just my two cents on the matte coating: while I would have preferred glossy and am curious what ASUS and Dough will be doing, as someone who's just tried two (one edge-lit, one full array local dimming) 32's (and was underwhelmed by the local dimming sacrifices) and is coming from a 10+ year...
Just in case anyone's curious, after a lot of thought, talking with friends, etc. (also firmware updating the ProArt), I've decided to return both 32"s and go with the 27" LG OLED since I need something now and I feel like this might be my best option for the performance I want at a (more)...
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I found a 3rd dead pixel so it's definitely getting on the border of unacceptable.
Use cases are about 25% gaming, 50% productivity/work, and maybe 25% working with images (I like accurate, but nothing that requires accuracy, though that's always an ice boon if...
Hey all,
I'm kind of in a dilemma and would love some advice.
Just got a new gaming rig, and along with that, purchased a new monitor.
First, I went with the ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQR 32” monitor. Long story short, while fairly happy with the picture, I was not happy with the local dimming...
Could still get there! I watched the Q&A - they're going to continue funding post-Kickstarter, but it's gonna take a bit to set up (corporate stuff). That'll include PayPal and some merch as well. So I think $1.4 should be easy, and hopefully beyond that if the incentives are good and they...
I hope we hit some more stretch goals too (and there's a possibility of more funding after the campaign if they choose to do that, but I think for KS purposes it's best to treat it as if that won't happen, then if it does, it's gravy).
They just announced a 24 hour livestream they'll be doing through the end of the KickStarter, so I'm hopeful there's still a chance for some stretch goals! =)
It's approaching the last few days of the KickStarter (it's funded, but there are some really cool stretch goals yet to be reached), so if you haven't already, try out the demo and if you like it, back if you can! =)
Agreed with 1.4. I'd LOVE to see that remix at 1.9, and I'm very curious what the hidden goals will be. They still haven't gotten a system in place to do PayPal, still could announce for PS4 (they're talking to Sony), and there's nothing saying they can't still sell copies/addons/etc. after...
I watched a YouTube video about this a while back (can't remember where exactly.)
Unfortunately, the original game *wasn't* particularly well known and didn't sell well - it was a loss for Origin at the time, despite how groundbreaking it was. They also made a fairly severe marketing...
imyourzero, I plan to play the original - I played it years ago, but not since. Nightdive also released the Enhanced Edition (can be had cheaply via Steam or GOG) last year (playable on modern PC's with enhancements like mouselook and higher res graphic options than it originally had). It's a...
I've had a crash as well, but I'm not too annoyed by that since it's pre-alpha and I figure it's to be expected (it's still more polished than any pre-alpha I've played before.) You and me both re the expanded station - I think 900K will be easy; I just hope it continues rising after that...
Nope not at all - it would be amazing if a whole new audience discovered the brilliance of System Shock. =) But you don't have to wait if you don't want to either - last year, this same developer (Nightdive Studios) released both System Shock Enhanced Edition and System Shock 2 on Steam (I...
REALLY excited about this! There's supposed to be a demo update coming this week!
CrimsonKnight13, yes there is, and at the time (1994), a really innovative one too. Most of figuring out what you need to do is by E-Mails, Messages, and Audio Logs you pick up, but overall it tells quite a...
