8600k for $229 or 8700k for $~380-$450. hmmm I remember buying my 2500K awhile back and regretting not buying a 2600K or 2700K with hyperthreading.

Wouldn't the 8600K be a more fair comparison to the 1700x? From what I see it is available, and is easily better than the 1700x with a OC. The paper launch is more of a strategic move than anything. Creates even more demand similar to what Apple does every year (I.E, inc. iPhone X)

Thinking about upgrading the 'other' computer - 2500K not performing well anymore in newer games (at 4.3 OC). Worth the upgrade? Thinkin 8700K, but 8600K looking good. Regretted not going with HT before though.
