I like my 4080. I know it’s slower than a 4090, it’s also cheaper. My favorite thing is many manufacturers are using the same giant heatsinks on the 4080s so they run super cool. Mine does anyway lol
I’m in software development and anyone at his level who wastes time coding is shooting himself in the foot when the visionary and leadership stuff is a much bigger opportunity to move the needle in an organization the size of Facebook. It sounds like they offered him a higher level than he...
my last gaming build was a threadripper + 1080ti. since i skipped two generations RTX 4080 seems like a reasonable purchase. as an upgrade from 3080+ ? maybe not so much. but who cares what other people think if you like it lol
I've used Windows, Linux and Apple computers for software engineering work, and I find that Macbooks and MacOS are just a bit better to use for the types of work I do (some linuxy terminal stuff plus a lot of browser and Adobe Creative Suite). The only way to run Linuxy stuff in Windows is via...
My husband bought an Alienware Aurora R10 to get a 5950x / 6800 XT and then shucked the components into his existing Corsair case because the Alienware Aurora R10 thermal performance sucks balls.
To give an idea of how godawful this case design is, here is a photo from PC Magazine:

I've transacted with dutnguye many times in the past and actually met him in person a couple of times to do trades back when I lived in the SF Bay Area. he has always been a stand-up guy and for whatever it's worth i take him at his word when he says his account was compromised.

Check my positive Heatware in signature for 15+ years. I had this in a Linux workstation box (also in sig) and barely did any gaming with it. The thing looks sick with RGB.
I don’t think cellular is ever worth it for an iPad. Most of the time you will have Wifi, and the rest of the time you’ll have your phone and can tether it.
Do you have the expertise and equipment to reflow / re-solder those components yourself?
In principle, yes, it's fixable. But probably not by you unless you're an electronics expert.
