I appreciate the ideas, but I'd like to keep the Alienware system it's in configured exactly as it shipped out as the X58 based Area 51s were pretty rare.
you see the HWU youtube series about optimizing performance/quality for that game? it took 2 nearly half hour episodes to get through all the settings. They saw some pretty substantial fps games without sacrificing visual quality.
Have you seen Hardware unboxed's youtube video series on optimizing RDR2 settings for balanced performance/eye candy? It's an eye opener on how ridiculous the graphics settings of that game are.
Due to a spilled Dr. Pepper I am in need of a new (used) motherboard.
Don't really care too much about generation, but would not be very enthusiastic about an A320...
As ever, budget is a huge consideration, just need it cheap, so if you got a B350 collecting dust let me know.
Not sure about itx form factor, only 2 RAM slots right? they're both running 4x4GB DDR3 RAM right now and I don't want to either drop down to 8 or find an 8gbx2 kit.
I think we would probably agree on most points if we were making apples to apples use case comparisons.
I use my hd 6xxs for music only. I use it exclusively with a Darkvoice 336se and a Grace Design SDAC that I spent waaay too much money rolling tubes on until I found the perfect pairing (to...
I have to say I slightly disagree. I find the bass difference between the X2HR and the Ships to be much more pronounced.
I also would never trade my HD 6XXs for the X2HRs. They both have their strengths and very different use cases.
Yeah, I've got a couple on the watch list on ebay, I just figured an [H]'er might have one stuck in a closet somewhere and want a little extra cash for the holidays.
We got them running 4.6 on a $17 "snowman" cooler from Ali express (1 hour of Asus Realbench stress test and they hit 82*C and 84*C) on a friends board! No WC up in here, I don't have the money for that!
So, I got gifted a couple of i7-2600k cpus from a local e-waste recycler friend, but the mobos on both looked pretty terrible (bulging caps on one, and some mystery burns/stains on the other).
I think these could be decent upgrades to my both my kids PCs (they're both sporting Athlon II X4...
Also the "Ships" as they're nicknamed originally linked by OP are outstanding open backed HPs.
But if you want some ridiculous bass along with the "open back" feel and presentation the X2HRs are excellent (they may fall down a little in the highs, but it's kinda track dependant). I love the...
Skip ATH-M50X and go straight to the M40X. MUCH better experience. Throw some thick cow leather pads and a shorter cord on them and you have my go to (non-amp'd) headphone. The M50Xs are a mess (screachy highs, muddy or non-existent bass) the M40x is much more well rounded.
I'm with OP here on wondering why used video cards are still so expensive.
The release of the 1660 Super means that the GTX 980 Ti and GTX 1070 *should* all go for less (preferably considerably less) than $230.
Especially when one considers things like warranty and efficiency gains (you could...
I like where your head is at, and not to hijack OP's thread (we're problem solving for you here my dude), Janas, how would you propose to connect a laptop docking station to a SFF PC?
I'm not aware of any 1050 class or older LP cards that will support 4 monitors, and not many that will support 3.
I think the older quaddro idea has some merit.
I do have a Sapphire 6670 1GB GDDR5 LP card that will drive two monitors for sure. But I've never hooked up all three outputs (HDMI...
Your total fixation on TR3's core count for the sake of core counts, while completely disregarding the MASSIVE leap in pretty much every other front (Base clock, boost CLock, L3 Cache, infinity fabric architecture improvements, the list goes on) just means that basically, you, sblantipodi, are...
So again, to my previous point, this will invalidate every socket currently on the market, and anything introduced in the next 18 mos at a minimum. Not just a TR3 issue.
